    I am currently studying at IPU College Palmestron, pursuing a master's in International Contemporary Studies, which is research-based and combines business management, environmental studies, political and development studies, and cultural studies. After completing this course, I am wondering which type of job would be easier to obtain permanent residency, as this program is not specific but rather a combination of studies covering business, sustainability, and politics.

    Thanks for the informative update. Have there been any substantial updates to the investor or business owner residency paths? Last I checked the ballpark figures for those categories were 3 million direct company investment or 7 million into institution level, and something like proof of $100k income per year for a business with a 2 year requirement to apply for a business transfer.

      Hi there. I am not sure where you have got this information from. The current Investor Category is set at $15million NZD, with a reduction of the total amount depending on where and how you will invest. There is no ongoing income requirement in that category. There is also an Entrepreneur Category that has a minimum investment of $100,000. You can find out all this criteria on the INZ website.

    Thanks a lot for this information.
    I'm on an AEWV as a sound technician/rental producer with a pay rate of 32nzd/hour.
    My wife and daughter (a four and a half years old) arrived 3 days ago on a partnership visitor visa( one day after the new rules)
    I would appreciate it a lot if you could have any information if they are affected by the new rules, if I want to support my wife for a partnership work visa, while she is in NZ, and if I can support my daughter to start the school here.

    Thanks for the clear explanations because wow, it changed a lot indeed! Seems a bit more straightforward imho. I had the chance to work for Gameloft Auckland back in 2015 for about a year but had to come back home in Canada because the studio unfortunately closed. Since then, I've been wanting to come back but the pandemic happened...but I'm finally starting to look again. Just one question, from what I saw on the immigration website, with the Skilled migrant category resident visa, depending on the ANZCO job level, the minimum salary requirements change? Like for example, as a video editor/director/producer, it goes under Skill Level 1, which means if I'm paid the median or above, I could be eligible? I'm asking because I see also that for some jobs, it needs to be paid at least 1.5 times the median to be able to add some points.

    • @immigrationchambers2143
      @immigrationchambers2143  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Minimum salary requirement is the same for all jobs under the Skilled Migrant Category, namely at median wages. However, if you need the points then a higher salary may be necessary. It really depends on personal circumstances. Also, you need to keep in mind that you should be paid a salary that is within the market rate for the industry you are in.

    • @bengirard1984
      @bengirard1984 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@immigrationchambers2143 Thanks for replying. I appreciate it. Ok, so basically I could still get a work visa if my salary has the minimum threshold (or higher) like I had back in 2015 but if I want to get permanent residency, then in my case (because I’m sure a video editor/director is not on the green list tier 1 or 2 haha) to get the minimum 3 points under the salary, I would need to get the 1.5 times the median, meaning I would need to have 47$/hour right now? I hope I’m not too confusing.

    Thanks for the structured update. Though I still see controversy in the process: Skilled residence/skilled migrant visas mandate a standing job offer, and visa application processing takes months, whereas employer's job offer won't stand that long, will be withdrawn or just expire during visa application process. Bluntly put: the company offers me a job, I apply for a skilled visa, and the company doesn't wait too long and moves on with another candidate. Yes, it's a point for applicant to negotiate with potential employer, but how many companies would agree to wait for more than 2-3 months? Is there any reference info that could clarify this? Thanks.

    • @immigrationchambers2143
      @immigrationchambers2143  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is a valid comment. In this case, if a temporary visa application takes too long to process, then unfortunately the risk of losing a job offer is real. This is something that Immigration New Zealand is constantly under criticism about and they are working on improving processing times.

      Hi Nauroze. Doing a Masters in New Zealand is a great idea because you would be eligible for 5 points under the Skilled Migrant Category, and then you could apply for residence potentially after just 1 year work experience. However, the point is that you would need to find suitable work, which honestly speaking can be difficult in the field of Marketing in New Zealand as a new graduate. The answer to your question really depends on your ability to find the right job in the end, and whether there are other more suitable areas of study that match your profile.

      If you obtain registration in New Zealand then you can apply directly for jobs as a registered teacher. Once you have an offer of employment you can apply for a visa.

    • @nikhilahlawat6824
      @nikhilahlawat6824 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, but your job must match your degree and at least one year of prior work experience in a related field to some degree.

      For example it's become very difficult for liquor store managers to get a residence visa especially if they are on an Accredited employer work visa but if you came here on a master's degree in a management course and worked one year at a liquor store say during your studies, you can then apply for residence after one year of full time study. Your application will be stronger and more convincing.
      I'm a law student, lemme know if someone finds this information wrong or helpful. Cheers

      @@nikhilahlawat6824 Thanks for your contribution, but actually this is not exactly correct. When you apply under the Skilled Migrant Category, the job and experience can be completely unrelated to the qualification you claim points for. You still must show that you are qualified for the job, but the points can be from a completely unrelated degree.

    • @immigrationchambers2143
      @immigrationchambers2143  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nikhilahlawat6824 yes it can be hard for liquor store managers, but the real reason for that is due to the perceived skill level required to run a liquor store. INZ officers often take the view that simply buying bottles and selling them does not require a lot of skill, and that in most cases the managers are not involved in the real decision-making of the store. It is not impossible however, so there is still a possibility in some cases. Good luck with your law school studies.

    • @immigrationchambers2143
      @immigrationchambers2143  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can apply for residence based on the partnership once you have lived together for at least 12 months and can demonstrate the partnership with evidence. If you have lived together outside of NZ for 5 years then you could potentially be granted permanent residence immediately without going through the 2-year "temporary" residence period with travel conditions.

      You can possibly continue on to bachelor's after studying at level 5, but you should be aware that these days INZ is quite strict on processing applications for lower level study. Also, you should consider carefully about the type of study because a generic business qualification does not easily lead to highly skilled employment. Please feel free to enquire with us on advice@iclegal.co.nz.
