I am currently studying at IPU College Palmestron, pursuing a master's in International Contemporary Studies, which is research-based and combines business management, environmental studies, political and development studies, and cultural studies. After completing this course, I am wondering which type of job would be easier to obtain permanent residency, as this program is not specific but rather a combination of studies covering business, sustainability, and politics.
Thanks for the informative update. Have there been any substantial updates to the investor or business owner residency paths? Last I checked the ballpark figures for those categories were 3 million direct company investment or 7 million into institution level, and something like proof of $100k income per year for a business with a 2 year requirement to apply for a business transfer.
Hi there. I am not sure where you have got this information from. The current Investor Category is set at $15million NZD, with a reduction of the total amount depending on where and how you will invest. There is no ongoing income requirement in that category. There is also an Entrepreneur Category that has a minimum investment of $100,000. You can find out all this criteria on the INZ website.

Hi, you can find average processing times here: www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/preparing-a-visa-application/the-application-process/office-and-fees-finder
Thanks for the clear explanations because wow, it changed a lot indeed! Seems a bit more straightforward imho. I had the chance to work for Gameloft Auckland back in 2015 for about a year but had to come back home in Canada because the studio unfortunately closed. Since then, I've been wanting to come back but the pandemic happened...but I'm finally starting to look again. Just one question, from what I saw on the immigration website, with the Skilled migrant category resident visa, depending on the ANZCO job level, the minimum salary requirements change? Like for example, as a video editor/director/producer, it goes under Skill Level 1, which means if I'm paid the median or above, I could be eligible? I'm asking because I see also that for some jobs, it needs to be paid at least 1.5 times the median to be able to add some points.
Minimum salary requirement is the same for all jobs under the Skilled Migrant Category, namely at median wages. However, if you need the points then a higher salary may be necessary. It really depends on personal circumstances. Also, you need to keep in mind that you should be paid a salary that is within the market rate for the industry you are in.
@@immigrationchambers2143 Thanks for replying. I appreciate it. Ok, so basically I could still get a work visa if my salary has the minimum threshold (or higher) like I had back in 2015 but if I want to get permanent residency, then in my case (because I’m sure a video editor/director is not on the green list tier 1 or 2 haha) to get the minimum 3 points under the salary, I would need to get the 1.5 times the median, meaning I would need to have 47$/hour right now? I hope I’m not too confusing.
@@bengirard1984 Hi again. Feel free to email us on advice@iclegal.co.nz if you would like to discuss in more detail. The key point is that everyone's individual circumstances are unique and requires some careful thought to ensure that you are on the right pathway.

Nice explain, thanks. I have a problem. I am working in new zealand as a baker. Is there any restriction to get my family here on this new issues. Thanks
Thanks for the structured update. Though I still see controversy in the process: Skilled residence/skilled migrant visas mandate a standing job offer, and visa application processing takes months, whereas employer's job offer won't stand that long, will be withdrawn or just expire during visa application process. Bluntly put: the company offers me a job, I apply for a skilled visa, and the company doesn't wait too long and moves on with another candidate. Yes, it's a point for applicant to negotiate with potential employer, but how many companies would agree to wait for more than 2-3 months? Is there any reference info that could clarify this? Thanks.
That is a valid comment. In this case, if a temporary visa application takes too long to process, then unfortunately the risk of losing a job offer is real. This is something that Immigration New Zealand is constantly under criticism about and they are working on improving processing times.

@@nikhilahlawat6824 Thanks for your contribution, but actually this is not exactly correct. When you apply under the Skilled Migrant Category, the job and experience can be completely unrelated to the qualification you claim points for. You still must show that you are qualified for the job, but the points can be from a completely unrelated degree.
@@nikhilahlawat6824 yes it can be hard for liquor store managers, but the real reason for that is due to the perceived skill level required to run a liquor store. INZ officers often take the view that simply buying bottles and selling them does not require a lot of skill, and that in most cases the managers are not involved in the real decision-making of the store. It is not impossible however, so there is still a possibility in some cases. Good luck with your law school studies.

How or after how long can I apply for residency? And how will my 6 points come? Please let me know it would be helpful. thank you
Thank you for helpful Information. I have a question, my partner is a Butcher for almost 1 1/5year as of today, and his salary is around 28/hr., can you give us advise what to to apply resident visa? And when is the right time to apply? I also work here in New Zealand under partner visa without condition. We are planning to get our daughters once our applications will be approved. Thank you.
The question of eligibility for residence will depend on a number of factors. You may need to contact us for a professional assessment of your circumstances. advice@iclegal.co.nz.

Hi there. This appears to match the requirements for 6 points, but it will depend on your pay rate and also other eligibility factors. You may need to take some professional advice to be certain.

Hello dear, my husband already has obtained an offer for Masters based on research course. He is a civil engineer (chartered) . Along with the offer for Masters he will be eligible for full time work rights. If he manages to secure a job in Green list NZ, will he be able to apply for PR in NewZealand without working for 1year no sooner he obtained the job offer? Please advise. Thank you so much for your tireless efforts in advance
The role of Civil Engineer is on the Green List, so if he meets the eligibility requirements with an appropriate job offer then yes, he can be eligible for residence immediately after completion of study.
@immigrationchambers2143 Thank you so much for your early response sir. Furthermore I need to know having a job offer under green list while following the course, is it mandatory to wait until completion of the course to be eligible for applying NZ PR? Because my husband will be eligible for full time work rights while following the course as itis research basis course. Thank you in advance
@@ayomaratnayake5615 The answer to your question is probably yes. However, we would recommend that you take professional advice before making any big decisions. If you contact us on advice@iclegal.co.nz then we may be able to assist.
@immigrationchambers2143 l will sir. Thank you so much for your precious time
My brother scored 54% in his graduation in 2023 from India. Now, he wants to pursue a master's degree in the same field in New Zealand. Will this 54% mark be a reason for refusal?
This will not likely be a reason for visa refusal, but could be a factor the college will consider when you apply for the college entry.

Hi , I’m Albanian nationality and I live in Uk, I have a resident permit in Uk , and I’m married to a New Zealand passport holder, can I get a permanent visa or a NZ passport while I’m living in UK. Thanks in advance
As a partner of a New Zealander you can apply for a visa, and possibly also residency. You can do this while you are in the UK, but Immigration NZ usually would need to be satisfied that you intend to move to New Zealand. We would advise to take professional advice before applying.
I'm a caregiver with over 5 years experience. What is the pathway for a job
You can apply for jobs in New Zealand in the same way as usual, by applying on the job vacancy websites. Good luck.
Hello Sir, I have applied for visa on 17th May and classes start from July 15th. No visa yet. It is 7th week running. Is there still chances that I will get visa interview call? And what is the current visa processing rate?
Processing times can sometimes be extended depending on volumes of applications. If you miss the intake then you should contact your college and ask for an updated offer of place for the next intake then upload this to your application with a cover letter.
Thankyou
Hello Sir,
I have applied For university in New Zealand as well as applied for visa on June 4th via an agency after accepting the offer i recieved for pursuing my master's in cyber security and digital forensics. But have not recieved any updates of my visa and the classes starts on july 15th. May i know what i should do?
In this case you simply have to wait longer, and then if you do not receive the visa in time then you should contact the education provider to request a new offer letter for the next intake.

If you obtain registration in New Zealand then you can apply directly for jobs as a registered teacher. Once you have an offer of employment you can apply for a visa.

Hi there, you can find average processing times on the NZ Immigration website.
hello sir can i apply horticulture level-5 i completed bsc chemistry in india ?
You will find it difficult to be granted a student visa for a level 5 course, but it depends on your full circumstances. Feel free to email advice@iclegal.co.nz if you need professional assistance.
SIR I HAVE DOCTRATE DEGREE WHICH IS ALREADY ASSESSED BY NZQA. WHETHER I HAVE REQUIRED JOB EXPERIENCE OF NEW ZEALAND OR I CAN APPLY DIRECT RESIDENCE VISA.PL.REPLY
For any application for a visa you will need a job offer. Good luck with the job search.
Thanks for info. If the job is not in green list , is it possible to go for master degree, then to obtain 1 year work experience to obtain residency ?
Yes, but your job must match your degree and at least one year of prior work experience in a related field to some degree.
For example it's become very difficult for liquor store managers to get a residence visa especially if they are on an Accredited employer work visa but if you came here on a master's degree in a management course and worked one year at a liquor store say during your studies, you can then apply for residence after one year of full time study. Your application will be stronger and more convincing.
I'm a law student, lemme know if someone finds this information wrong or helpful. Cheers
@@immigrationchambers2143 thank you for the info sir.
My wife is kiwi, and i have a partner work visa for 1 year, can i apply for residence or permanent residence?
Yes you can apply for residence based on the partnership once you have lived together for at least 12 months and can demonstrate the partnership with evidence. If you have lived together outside of NZ for 5 years then you could potentially be granted permanent residence immediately without going through the 2-year "temporary" residence period with travel conditions.

I got an unconditional offer letter from ICL graduate business school, Auckland a couple week ago in diploma in business with stands to leadership and management level 5.
Can i study bachelor degree after completion of diploma in business level 5.
What was the demand of this business related course in new Zealand.
Can i got for pathway to residency after completion of bachelor in applied management courses in new Zealand.
You can possibly continue on to bachelor's after studying at level 5, but you should be aware that these days INZ is quite strict on processing applications for lower level study. Also, you should consider carefully about the type of study because a generic business qualification does not easily lead to highly skilled employment. Please feel free to enquire with us on advice@iclegal.co.nz.
