      It's such a pity you don't explain at the start, however briefly, WHY you move the tee outside to inside. Or WHY aim for the seam in the second swing and WHERE that is for viewers who, of course, can't see it. ---So many important points and lessons are omitted, that would help the student get oriented and better understand what he's doing, and why, and that take only a few seconds to impart.
      Teachers: Always, always give your students a sound idea why you're asking them to do something. This allows them to sync up mind and body, idea and action.

      @@johnstrawb3521 I have like 3,000 videos on all of these topics in our hitting playlist. This was more just me and my son hitting.

    What great kid! You were meant to be a father and coach. Heart warming to see how kind you are to him and still manage to teach. Great great example.

    Love watching everybody’s hitting routine they use especially with kids. My son is 7, he plays 8u kid pitch travel ball. When him and I go to the cage we start with a bucket of 50 balls off the tee and I move the tee all around from middle, outside to inside then finish with 10-12 balls of elevation starting the tee at the chest then progressively dropping it to the knees. Then we go to 50 swings of soft toss. Then go to 50 balls of underhand toss from about 15 ft away at various speeds to train his eyes to find the ball quick. Then we’ll finish with a bucket of overhand from about 30 ft again with various speeds. This routine has worked really well for his hitting development. I’m eliminating the soft toss this year and I was looking to add something else to our routine. Any suggestions? Love the videos brother. I stole some of your infield drills. There great.

    Great to see. Thank you for this video. I can't wait to show this to my 7 year old. Last season I instructed him to "pre-load" just like your son is doing. His timing improved a lot. Now we're working on saying back instead of lunging forward for the ball.

      Just let the 7 to 9 yr olds have fun. Don't get caught up on too many corrections. Have fun and lots of reps is the name of the game. Make everything a competition.

    Great video! My son and I honestly appreciate the top notch videos. You break it down so that young kids can understand it better. 👍 👌

    Matty is on his way to get heckled with "YOU GOTTA START EARNING THAT MONEY!" and late night Panda Express. At least he wont get called an embarrassment by Vin Scully.

    I know I'm late to the party on this vid, but just wanted to check in to say that if Matty goes on to have a great career, it's not going to be just because his dad was a major leaguer - it's going to be because Matt is obviously an awesome, patient, caring coach & dad who not only provides instruction but also exactly the right kind of encouragement and knows exactly how to build a kid UP the right way! That's the stuff right there that's going to stick with Matty FOREVER, no matter where he ends up in life. ❤

      "That's a good swing right there, down and away."
      "Line out."
      "That's ok."
      Exactly. Process, not results.

    This is incredible, absolutely love it and going to try it with my kid. The kid is totally aware and on it so not trying to sharpshooter here, but what about a helmet?

    • @ryanbranco9786
      @ryanbranco9786 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was thinking the same thing about the helmet. Not only for the obvious, but also for your eyes and neck muscles. I have my son wear one even on the tee. Am I wrong? To me, “when you’re practicing anything, do it the same, as you’re doing the real thing!”

    if he used a lighter bat would he hit more to right and right center?

    Matt. Any advice or a video for t-ballers. My son is 4 and loves baseball. As a former college player I don't want to over teach/coach. He asks me constantly to hit and field. What r your thoughts?

    • @dblankenship88
      @dblankenship88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know you asked Matt but I would recommended letting him hit and field as much as he wants or time permitting.
      Fixing mechanics shouldn’t start till he can hit coach pitch.

  • @BestOpsPro
    @BestOpsPro ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd like to see his bat start less wrapped around his neck and more up, 45 degrees and athletic. Also I'd ask him to keep his feet in the same place relative to the plate than relative to the T. Good kid, good swing.

    Do you think he is hitting more to opposite field because of how he's wrapping the bat back behind his head?

    • @AntonelliBaseball
      @AntonelliBaseball  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally think it’s because he likes to drop forward and doesn’t stay behind the ball well. Also, has a tendency to start his load very late

    • @cmajr1232
      @cmajr1232 ปีที่แล้ว

      You think it’s fair to say, it’s also because of that tee work- Working his hands inside out etc?
      At 9 years old, having that ability or concept hitting the other way, being inside the ball is amazing.
      I’ll take that all day rather than constantly wrapping, pulling etc
      He’ll obviously make the necessary adjustments on that inside pitch soon.

    • @AntonelliBaseball
      @AntonelliBaseball  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cmajr1232 I agree I’d rather this. We hit on the tee only a handful of times in the last year so I don’t think it’s that. Just think it’s how his body current moves

    • @cmajr1232
      @cmajr1232 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AntonelliBaseball I’ve been working with my 11 y.o. son on the tee, using the same concepts of moving the tee outside/in etc although he still has some difficulty with that inside pitch, getting the barrel out front. He stays inside the ball well but I think you know what I mean when referring to the inside pitch
      I believe you made a comment about doing some sorta closed/open stance front flip drills to work on some of these things….Do you have a video you can refer me too?

    These mats need thin white lines so you know if your toes are in the same spot for Out, Middle and In setups. Too easy even for adults to cheat towards the ball, let alone a 9 yr old

  • @unclestinky6388
    @unclestinky6388 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems like Matty is reacting real late to the pitches from the machine. The ball looks like it's right on top of him. Today's hitters get started much earlier and are almost waiting on their back leg with their front leg up. I wish I had done that when I was younger

  • @bigbens33

    What kind of gum are you chewing? It sounds like you are really enjoying it.
