That last advice is vital- never be scared to use your tools. I do illustration for a living (despite all the doom and gloom around AI- they have not killed me, yet!) and I've felt the terror of shelling out hundreds of dollars on supplies that you're certain you're going to waste. But being too scared to use them *assures* that the money is a waste, instead of it possibly being wasted on "bad" art. No art is bad as long as you got something out of making it.
