Can’t really blame her. The avengers have never truly had the mutants back in the comics up until recently. Anytime tragedy happens from mutants, the Avengers NEVER assemble to save them. So it only makes sense that she would respond to Captain America that way.

If you were ever in a situation where for example, you witnessed your friends or even family being murdered. Imagine seeing your best friends, your partner or even your parents and siblings squashed by buildings, or perhaps even sliced through the throat by metal shrapnel, body parts blown into a splattered mess. And then the perpetrator pretty much escapes with no remorse or any sense of closure. And then some self righteous superhuman/hero refuses to help you, because they are worried about being judged and imply that you and your family/friends are problematic. Bruh X-men is going the f**k off. It's all over the place and wonderful. Last minute swerves, all kinds of familial and relationship drama. It turned into a full on Tarantino movie at the end. 😂 this show is great

The reason Magneto didn't get a funeral is , Rogue was holding Gambits body at the end of ep 5. So they had his body. Magneto's body hadn't been 'found' yet. So they'd be burying an empty casket. They were probably waiting to 'find' him.

What If has always been in the Marvel Animation logo. You just now noticed it. Captain America was in the original X-Men series. There's an episode where he and Wolverine were on a mission together during World War 2. War Machine & Dr. Strange are cameoed in the Phoenix saga. War Machine saving people and Dr. Strange sensing when the Phoenix does something. Also Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver are still Magneto's kids in this animated series.

Speaking of: i thought Morph's ability to use other mutants' powers was based on physical characteristics, not just physical abilities (like having a durable metalic skin as Colossus or flight as Angel with the wings out, but not having super strength as Molly Hayes... maybe super strength was a bad example), anyway does Quicksilver's superspeed come from muscle structure and density {which i guess would make sense on an evolutionary standpoint (mutant)} or is it not based on his physique?

@@slight9217 As far, as I remember, Morph couldn't imitate Mutant Powers in the comics. So this must be TAS only.
But what we haven't seen of the TAS Morph so far as well, is his ability to transform into any object. So far, he has only imitated people.

I think Quicksilvers speed is based on a super fast metabolism. Some stuff he produces in his body. So it is a physical mutation and therefore Morph can copy it.
“I have never seen Beast this upset.” Someone forgets the episode where Carly got kidnapped by the Friends of Humanity. Wolverine was the level headed one in that episode and Beast was the one that went Berserker.

I made a comment last week on their video about something else they missed in the 90s. I don't think they actually watched X-Men back then to be honest but their enthusiasm is good to see.

Like I watched Beast Wars back then and watched it again a few years ago but there are small details I don't remember from almost every episode. Doesn't mean I never watched it xD.

The voice acting and sound quality of this show is top tier.
Bastion is voiced by Theo James. The actor who played Four in the Divergent series
Theo James can calibrate the moral alignment of his voice, but he makes the same 'soft, whispering evil boss' tone that it unintentionally sounds like Jimmi Simpsons' Doctor Hemlock (The Bad Batch) despite having different accents. Don't get me wrong, it's really good voice acting and sounds exceptionally well, it's just that they have the same soundwave for this type of character.
And he also voiced Hector in Netflix's Castlevania, not to mention Vesemir in Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

True. Captain America can’t just show up in another country unless there is an outward threat. You risk an international incident or starting a war. When he went to Germany the war already existed. And any other mission he was working as a shield operative to contain a threat (hydra) avengers 2 and Capt 3 are good examples of this. However if no threat exist and he goes rogue or if an enemy is surrendering and he doesn’t give them due process it would not only be an internal incident but also a pr storm.
If Cap entered Mexico bashing heads without Mexico permission, it would cause an international incident. For example, the whole Mexico/Ecuador incident.

What If was in the logo because it's for Marvel Animation which that falls under. Cap has shown up in the X-Men show before and this isn't a crossover with the MCU. Remember, this is in the '90s and Cap didn't wake up until about 2010 in the MCU
Why are yall shocked that Captain America is there? He was in the animated series in the 90’s. All of Marvel comics were associated with the X-men in the 90’s… it’s not a crossover with the MCU. It’s MARVEL their characters were always connected
In their previous videos, Jaby mentioned that he hadn't finished the original X-Men animated series. Plus, the episodes he watched were out of order. Achara said she only was able to watch a few episodes from the first season. It's also understandable because even though all these characters are from Marvel, the MCU and the Fox Marvel films have been separated for so long, they probably forgot. I even met people who didn't even know that Fantastic Four were Marvel characters and have a huge connection with Spider-Man. So it's understandable. At least they know now 💪

MCU was the thing til 2019 (and still today but 4 me MCU ENDED 2019)
You have to be a complete comics/animated series nerd OR be in your 40s+ like moi to know that the *Marvel Animated Universe* existed.
Shows like Xmen TAS, Spiderman TAS, Iron Man, Fantastic Four were all connected with virtually every Marvel Super hero there is.
I think SpiderMan TAS followed by Fantastic Four featured majority of *MARVEL SUPER HEROES*

I understand the confusion, but remember, the X-Men animated series didn't have the same restrictions the MCU had. They were able to follow the Marvel comics lore very well despite being a kids show. Since X-Men 97 is a revival of the same classic series, they can still keep that same Marvel lore. Hope this makes sense! 🙏🏽💪

It's not the MCU. That specifically refers to the movie-verse. It's just Marvel. All of the original comic books (X-Men, Spider-Man, the Avengers, etc) were connected, and the 90s cartoons are adapted from those comic stories.

I assume they didn’t give Magneto a funeral because they couldn’t find a body and assumed he was dead or at least dead until they find him. It’s kinda the same way there hoping to find Pryor. And the end of the episode shows that he was captured instead. That’s just how I took it.

I think it's also important to remember that in the 90s series, Rogue absorbed the powers of Captain Marvel. So yeah, she's a Powerhouse.

It may have been mentioned, but the funeral was with Gambit's people. That was the Xmen bringing him back home to rest. No one else should be talked about at that time.

I think a huge chunk of motivation for Rogue's actions stem from not only survivor's guilt after the loss of Remy and Eric, but guilt and shame for choosing Eric over Remy. I also think that's why Magneto isn't mentioned as much because they're trying to give you an idea of Rogue. She screams "My man!"...I don't believe she meant Magneto.
Yes. I think a lot of her rage is with herself. Remy was killed before she could tell him she left Magneto after their dance.

The song Bastion listens to at the end, "The Purple People Eater", is very fitting for his character. It's about a creature that comes to Earth that only targets "purple people" i.e. mutants as opposed to regular humans.
Not to mention that his original costume had purple accents, and he flew, and he unalived (e "ate") people...
Just to note, they didn't have a funeral for Magneto because they didn't have a body. While I don't think they were holding out hope he would be found alive (especially given what Rogue witnessed) he was still considered "missing." So I think they were waiting until they had cleared the rubble, or found more definitive evidence he had perished. Plus, Magneto's funeral would likely be a huge public spectacle, and will likely draw a whole lot of angry mutants looking to use his death as a flashpoint for war. And thus probably will get its own episode, assuming he's not publicly revealed to be alive before then. So yeah, Magneto's potential funeral is going to be a whole other can of worms.

Also, in the original Spider-Man even had a crossover with the X-Men series, and it answered the question if Spider-Man was a mutant or not. They even had their version of Endgame, but better. Secret Wars! Which were going into soon. Doctor Doom was the main villain! I understand the confusion, but remember, the X-Men animated series didn't have the same restrictions the MCU had back in 2008-2019. The Marvel Animated Shows in the 90s were able to follow the Marvel comics lore very well. Also, despite being a kid shows, they were able to touch a lot of mature themes. The X-Men 97 is not just a revival of the same classic X-Men animated series, is a revival of that same Marvel Animated Universe! Hope this makes sense! 💪

Actually, the first time that the ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ theme was used in live-action was in ‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’. When Strange is brought before the Illuminati and Professor X floats out in his levitating yellow chair, the theme “announces” him.
Nightcrawler telling Rogue she didn’t cause Magneto or Gambit to die but caused the to live actually made me cry.
The writing for this show is just too damn good. It’s like how I felt like with Andor as a Star Wars fan, like it was almost too good to be true.
Knew Emma diamond form was coming. In the comics she’s the sole survivor however in the comics by that time she had left the hellfire club and was a teacher of sorts to mutants. She actually emerges herself in her new diamond form holding one of her own dead students. I think that should have been done but they glossed over that arc of hers sadly.
Magneto wasn’t part of the X-Men from the beginning. Him not getting a funeral like Gambit makes sense. He was always an enemy.

They haven't technically met anyone from THE MCU. They're meeting iterations from the Fox Kids Universe. i.e. Captain America showed up in the 1997 episode, "Old Soldiers."
I pretty sure they are setting up Onslaught for season 2 as we see him talk about Xaiver and we see him holding Magneto prisoner. Onslaught is a combination of the consciousnesses of two powerful mutants, Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto, and has superior physical and mental powers. He can also possess the minds of others and use their bodies as his own. We could see the Avengers team up with the xmen or even see the avengers mind controlled to fight the xmen, anything is possible.

In the comics, The Avengers & X-Men always had an indifference towards each other. So Captain America’s stance is in line with the books. The MCU is different from the animated series or the comics.
The 90s cartoon had a whole episode of Wolverine and Cap in WW2. Also a crossover with the Spider-Man cartoon.
Marvel always kept the rights of X-Men and Fantastic Four for animation so it never had the limitations from the films for crossovers.

Jean really showed up this episode! Threw a whole building into a lake without fainting!. Good to see her active in uniform. Definitely concerned about Beast, those of us who know his story arcs will know why!.

Magneto being turned into a mutant sentinel is a touch of pure cruel genius by the writing.
Look up Onslaught. While he was not a sentinel in the comics I think that may be the direction they are heading.

Beast quoting "the ever-affable Mr. Rogers" makes me choke up every single time I hear it. It's also understandable that Beast's peaceful side gave way so easily while standing on the literal ashes of his people.
This episode is so emotionally real and discomforting that when there’s a rare moment of levity or warmth or relief, it feels like a port in a storm.

I'm beating Season 2 will be X-Men vs. Avengers, and will be because the X-men look like the enemy, and are wanted fugitives. The Captain America cameo was just the beginning.

Aside from the common comment of "because there is no body", there could be several reasons why Magneto wouldn't have a funeral:
1. Perhaps he did have one, but since people would still be "shaky" about if Magneto was actually doing good, it may not have been attended by many X-men, and the most likely people to go under normal circumstances regardless of recent events (Rogue, Xavier, Storm) would not be present, and there is no reason to "film it" for the audience.
- Also, if given a choice between Magneto and Gambit's funerals both the show, and the majority of the team would focus on the latter.
2. The show is setting up his unexpected survival at the end of the episode, so that explains why there wasn't any air-time dedicated to it.
But these two reasons are also why there is no "funeral" for anyone else who died (Sebastian Shaw, Banshee, Dazzler, etc...), as in: we just weren't shown any others. The closest we get to see any other memorial is the one for Callisto and Leech.
However there is likely a reason why there wasn't a funeral (yet):
3. Magneto was a BIG DEAL(TM), having been the leader of several mutant societies, including being Chancellor of Genosha. He was a recent public figure of interest due to his UN trial and subsequent pardon, and those who still saw him in a negative light consider him of the most notorious mutant terrorists.
- If his enemies were to arrange his funeral, it would be in secret and discreet, like with for Osama Bin Laden
- But more likely, there will be a ceremony in Genosha once search and rescue is finished (they were still fishing up bodies and survivors in this episode) to commemorate all the lost and unnacounted for. Magneto would get a state funeral as former chancelor and to recognize his efforts fighting for mutant kind including leading the defence of the people during the attack. More than just the X-Men would be invited / want to attend, as it would likely include major mutant leaders, and as many survivors as possible, as well as any world leaders for whom showing up wouldn't be political suicide.
