That soundtrack was everything. We would do our Saturday house chores to that soundtrack. My mom and sister and I, such great memories. I know it by heart to this day!😂 Thanks Jordan🤘
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Mountain Lake Lodge in June 1978.❤️The lake was still there and we went out on it in a small boat a couple of times. The movie came along about a decade later. Later, our family enjoyed the movie often as our kids grew up with it and the marvelous soundtrack, and the family lore of mom and dad staying “ at Kellerman’s”.
Funny thing about Patrick's song, it was my favorite song on the soundtrack. Lyrically it's a beautiful song! Thanks for the great vlog of one of my favorite movies ever! ✌️
I always loved the scene at the gazebo where Baby was talking with her dad. It was such a peaceful and serene location with the gazebo overlooking the lake. It's terrible that the lake has dried up, but still nice to see the cinder blocks Patrick stood on. And yeah, the soundtrack was everything back then! I bought the CD soundtrack then, still have it and enjoy it! Great video!
There was a study done on what happened to the lake, and there was actually a " hole" that had opened in the bottom , and it emptied into a small underground crevice/cave area and it caused the lake to eventually drain out somewhere on the other side of a hill. When this movie came out, a friend of mine had a small video rental place at the edge of his yard. He said a young woman rented it like 31 times.
Oh Jordan! Thank you so much for going there and filming the place and showing that Memorial rock in honoring Patrick Swayze. A few years ago, I was online, and I read an article that says that they also play the movie there, I don't know if that is still happening or not. You just made my day bright. Thank you, Jordan.
They have Dirty Dancing weekends at certain times of the year. I believe they are listed on the calendar of the hotel website. It gets sold out quickly.
This was a great video yet made me kinda sad to realize he is really gone. 😢he was such a talented actor and seemed like such a genuine, compassionate person.
I love this, Jordan! Dirty Dancing was my mom’s favorite movie! She loved Patrick Swayze too! I live in Houston and my best friend’s mother went to high school with Patrick at Waltrip. My mother would have loved your video! She passed away in 2010. I really appreciate you, Jordan!
This was a awesome video and history lesson and one of the best videos you done. This was my mom and sister favorite soundtrack when I was kid they would blast it and sing along with every song. They’re both gone now but I have great memories. Thanks again.
The Lake Lure Inn is where Patrick and Jennifer stayed during filming. They have two suites named for them that they used. The boat tour is awesome and the docks and beach are across from the inn. I was able to see the stairs and remmenants of the building where the hotel staff danced. Now all is left are the remmenants of the steps with new housing development around. Thanks Jordan for a great vlog of Smith mountain lake resort. ❤
Just to clarify, this is Mountain Lake near Blacksburg, VA and Smith Mountain Lake is a man made lake about 2 hours away and very, very large. Probably the most famous movie filmed at Smith Mountain Lake is "What About Bob" in 1991.
Hi Jordan! I live 45 miles from Lake Lure in NC. We stayed there and took that boat tour in the 90's. On the tour, they told us the lift happened there and pointed out the cove supposedly where it happened. Funny, right? Also if you decide to visit, another movie was filmed right there beside Lake Lure at Chimney Rock! "The Last Of The Mohicans". Some of that movie was filmed also at Lake James where they built a fort. It is very close to Morganton, NC which is my hometown. My cousin was an extra in Mohicans and the male black dancer in Dirty Dancing was from Morganton. About 20 miles away in Hildebran NC, there are some of the locations used in the"The Hunger Games". Enjoy you channel!💖
Another movie was also filmed nearby in Chimney Rock. Firestarter with Drew Barrymore when she was a little girl. Watch it & you'll see main street & other locations. I lived less than 2 hours east and our weekends were always spent in the mountains. So beautiful & peaceful! Air so Fresh!!! Lake Lure was so beautiful! (I hope it still is!)
@@qtbrniis You're exactly right! I had forgotten about that movie! It was a long time ago. We stayed there several times with my daughters when they were young. We took the boat tour which was very interesting and also went to Chimney Rock. It is very beautiful there. We went back a couple of years ago and it hasn't changed much. They have added a few new restaurants.
Yes, some scenes were made in lake Lure North Carolina! My father in law had a vacation home on the lake.. back then the famous lift and dinner scenes was at Apple Valley..
You did a wonderful job; I would say better than anyone who could. You brought me back to a time forever lost in history. A super great movie. Also, our sweet little Jah is getting old. Love that little puppy, he is so special. He always behaves himself when he travels with you. Hugs to you both. Thank you Jordan.❤❤
Wow, thank you so much for this vlog Jordan. I've been a, Dirty Dancing fan since it came out. Rented it at least a 100 times back then, till I bought one. I remember for the longest time there was a HUGE waiting list at the video store to rent. Absolutely love Patrick Swayze in everything, and was totally heartbroken when he passed. Again thank you you made my day!
For me Patric Swayze is my absolute most favorite actor ❤. I’ve absolutely loved every second of this Vlog & so sad when it ended. Love this movie so so much 😭💗. What a special treat for us to see through your camera lens & so glad you and Jah got to stay in BABIES cabin 🤯🤯
Brought back so much memories! In 1987 l was 18 years old, only saw the movie in 1988 and is still an all time favourite. Married to my school sweetheart going on 30 years and two months away from becoming grandparents! How time has flown past! Thank you, this was special, love from South Africa ❤
Thank you for doing my favorite movie. I loved Patrick. I still do. My he rest in Gods loving hands. I miss him. Thanks again Jordan and Jah. Take care.
This is one of my all-time favorite movies! Perfect cast, perfect location and perfect story. Thanks for sharing Kellerman's with us, Jordan. Great vlog!!!
Such a cool vlog.i did this in 1990 when I was 12 years old.we actually went to Johnny staff cabin before it was all torn down,I have a bunch of pics from inside his cabin, the stairs everything.this brought back alot of great memories, thanks so much Jordan.
I loved this, thank you so much for taking me back to my youth again. As I’ve grown older and most of my family have all passed away now I seem to be more nostalgic even though I’m only 48 yrs old, but this film was a film the whole family loved and my mother especially loved it who has also passed away now , such wonderful memories that I’d forgotten about until you did this video. In 1987 this was a huge film over in the UK and I was only 12 yrs old. I watched it and everyone tried to do the dirty dancing dance to “ Do you love me” . Love your vlogs they are all so interesting and your knowledge is amazing. Thank you so much from UK/ Norway. 😊❤️
Bless you Jordan for doing this great one....I still can't believe he's gone :( I watch this movie all the time!!! The best ever!!! It is unfortunate that we lost a few of the actors who were in this iconic film years later...considering that a few of them were so young and talented!! Have a great week everyone!!!
Awesome video Jordan! I love this movie....and now so does my daughter! (One of the movies we quote often 🥰) don't think this movie will ever fade away. Hard to believe Patrick has been gone 14 years next month. He would've been 71 on 8/18. I'm grateful for all the phenomenal movies he gave us. Love, hugs & God Bless you 💕💕
You're always so good about matching up the shots at these filming locations! So cool to see how they look now versus then. So cool that those cinder blocks are still there!
Out of all the videos I’ve seen about this location, yours is the best. I’ve visited this place as a child and went back when I discovered Dirty Dancing was filmed there, the lake was already disappearing on my last visit. Patrick is still missed. I read this book that Lisa wrote. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking. This was a favorite but he really had many movies that he was great in. He will forever be in the hearts of his fans and I happen to be one of them. RIP. Thanks for the video.
This was wonderful Jordan.👍 I didn’t know Patrick wrote songs, and what a lovely song that is. Great movie and what an amazingly stunning 🤩 place. Glad you took us all there. Thanks Jordan. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
I love the way you carefully place the videos and pics, Jordan. Great job! I am here enjoying from Brasil. Thank you so much! Cannot believe Patrick Swayze is gone...
I just loved this movie! When you do your videos I’ve noticed how well you explain the entire thing makes it easy to follow! Thank you for going out there and doing this for us

I live 5 minutes from Lake Lure and the saddest par is there was a huge fire several years ago and we lost several buildings that they filmed in. The lake and a lot of it remains but it is very sad. I go to Lake Lure every week it is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this amazing video such a great job. xoxo
That was fun to watch. That movie got me through a very difficult time in my life. It made me feel better when I watched or just had it going in the background. Thank you for the nostalgic trip.
Dirty Dancing is such a classic movie and one of my favorite. I love that you stayed here and explored the filming locations from the movie. I love all the plaques where certain scenes were filmed. It's too bad that lake dried up. Hopefully it will fill back up soon. I would love to visit there one day! Thanks for showing us!! Hello to Jah!❤
Jordan you had me crying, I thank you for putting this video together. This is the first time your video came across my life. Patrick swayze is still my favorite male actor. The movies I saw were uncommon valor, dirty dancing, ghost and black dog. Thank you!
I loved seeing this mountain house years after dirty dancing was made although I'am sad that the lake has dried up as it was a great part of what made the place beautiful. Thanks for this tour, it was great ❤
Im one of those people that did not go to the theater to see the movie (my loss), because of the title & certain clips from the trailer. We were at a family members home & they were watching Dirty Dancing (a year or so later), and I fell in love with the story.💖
Thank you for this tour. I ❤ all the details you showed from the movie. It is nice to see Jah again. The others two movie hit soundtracks in the 80s were Footloose and Top Gun.
So weird how the lake dried up. Supposedly it was some strange phenomenon where the lake would dry up, and then come back again. But it sounds like the lake has dried up once and for all now. Love this vlog, Jordan!!! So surreal to see the resort now. And, seeing those cinder blocks!!!
It doesn't dry up, its cracked. The lake is on top of a mountain the water basically leaks out. They have a Dirty Dancing themed weekend, I did it many years back and they explain the whole lake issue while your are there.
Thank you for taking us here. Such an amazing video! Absolutely loved this movie and still do to this day. 🤍 Happy Heavenly Birthday Patrick! 🤍 My birthday twin!
We were here for one of the dirty dancing weekends they put on, super fun and interesting to see all of this! The resort is 100% worth a visit for a vacation, even just on its own. great video, exactly as i remember it
I got so excited when I saw that you were visiting Mountain Lake! My friend keeps her camper at a campground just 30 minutes away from there. It’s my mission to drive over some day when I’m down there. It makes me sad that the lake is gone, though and sad that Patrick is gone as well. 😢
From what I understand it’s not that the lake is gone it’s underneath the lake bed. Apparently that lake is one of a kind on this planet. You can google up a website that explains in detail. It’s actually quite interesting. I would love to visit Mountain lake one day too. Sadly I’m pretty far away from it.
thanks for the clip about the location today of Dirty Dancing. I am bron 1977 in Germany and this film is and was my absoulute favorite Patrick Swayze i Loved him as a Actor
I have always loved this movie 🍿 ❤thank you so much for doing this video ! It was so great to see where this was filmed . I have always wanted to go there .
My mom lives in Pembroke and good chunk of my family on her side lives up on the mountain there by Mountain Lake. My aunt worked there for decades and was there during the filming. She said Patrick Swayze was a true gentleman. She said he would drop what he was doing during dinner or other off-time and run to open doors for all the ladies and would come down at night and bring beer for the cooks and waitstaff. She didn't get to interact much with Jennifer Gray because but said that during the few times she did encounter her, she was friendly. The director, on the other hand, was a real jerk and treated the staff like dogs. The lake has been dried up for a long time now. I think the last time I saw it full was around '95 or '96. There's a crack in the earth under the lake that causes it to drain out periodically. It partially fills every several years, especially if there's a particularly rainy year, but it rarely gets to about half of what it was back then. Thankfully, its a beautiful resort even without the lake, plus this movie making it a hot spot for fans also helps it continue to thrive. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's a beautiful place. It's made me kind of homesick. lol. Maybe I'll drive up there when I go visit my momma in a couple weeks.
My best friend Jill and I would watch Dirty Dancing and replay the soundtrack everyday. We would practice the lift in my pool all summers long. She died of cancer in 2015. Thanks for the memories
Jordan, an incredible tribute to Dirty Dancing and Patrick Swayze! I loved seeing the current state of the resort. I must say the new pool they put in looks awesome. I guess they kind of needed it to replace the lake! People in general go to resorts for the lake experience. I know our family always did. Except we went to the Wisconsin Dells to a resort called Castle Rock along the Wisconsin River. We always spent 10 days there mid August and came home and started school a week later, lol! There was nothing like growing up in the 1970's and early 80's. I was a Mom by 1986! Wow life goes by fast!!! Loved this so much! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved this tour! What an awesome time you had. The resort really does a wonderful job showing the different filming spots. I have been known to super geek out at stuff like this. The movie was so good. Thank you so much for sharing! 36:52

This is such a great explanation and the back and forth of the move and the present is genius perfect and Jawster is ❤❤❤
Movie not move😂
And now I want to watch the Movie all over again for the Millions times I had watched it lol, thank for this re cap of this amazing place..
COOL!!!!! Greetings from Poland
My best friend Jill and I would watch Dirty Dancing and replay the soundtrack everyday. We would practice the lift in my pool all summers long. She died of cancer in 2015. Thanks for the memories
Enjoyed this one thoroughly! Now I feel I have to watch Dirty Dancing again😛
You’re before and after vids are absolutely incredible.
what a beautifully maintained resort!
thanks for the great vlog, Jordan.
this was great!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Lake Lure is worth a look you are right by Chimney Rock state park. It's a pretty little area.
