This was one of my Mom and Dads favorite songs from the Easy Listening Music Era .My dad always had a variety of Ray Conniffs albums .And this song, truly became one of my all time favorites. I still sing this song and play it today in my car .Ray Conniff ,was a truly gifted songwriter and arranger .RIP Ray ,I miss you. 😪 Timothy Gerber .
My father had this LP back in the 60s and he would play it in our Pioneer & Garrard stereo with the big cabinet. Our family loved all the songs in the album but the title track is my favourite, it has a special place in my heart and brings a tear often. My mother, sister and I miss my father who passed away too early at 56 y/o. This song brings those wonderful moments back
What an emotion! This words and music make my cry for happiness and nostalgia. Nostalgia is an Italian word expressing how much I can miss someone I do love. Coniff was a genius for music. What an exclusive and rare talent!
Oh this is audio heaven! I will never ever tire listening to Ray Conniff and The Singers…Thank Goooood! I never bought a single CD of say ah…Britney Spears and the likes…
I am 83 and this is one of my forever songs, which I play often on my Yamaha keyboard.-I now have this playing on a TV monitor as I play the music. My visitors love it. 👍😁🎹🇦🇺🦘
Fantastic...have always liked this type of music....while the rest were smoking pot and listening to heavy metal. Glad to be different. Keep up the good music.
Somewhere, my love there will be songs to sing Although the snow covers the hope of spring Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold And there are dreams all that your heart can hold Someday we'll meet again my love Someday whenever the spring breaks through You'll come to me out of the long ago Warm as the wind, soft as the kiss of snow Lara my own, think of me now and then God speed my love till you are mine again You'll come to me out of the long ago Warm as the wind soft as the kiss of snow Till then my sweet think of me now and then God speed my love 'til you are mine again
Mr. Manfred, muchas gracias 🙏🏻. Dios lo bendiga. Qué hermoso es admirar con tanto respeto y cariño a un artista. Dios tenga en su Santa Gloria a Ray Connif 🙏🏻☁️💙✨

It's funny because as a teen in the late 60s and early 70s, this music was considered lame. Something your parents or a square would listen to. Never liked any of the easy listening/sunshine pop era. I was into T Rex, Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath at the time. Now, as an old man, I look back and realise how great these songs were. Somehow, it's more of a time capsule of the era than any of the songs I listened to back then
There definitely was a Ray Conniff sound. He was a big band arranger and then he hit on the idea of adding a small chorus. The musicians were all top notch and I count 15 singers here. That contributes to the smooth sound, but today they would want to cut back on payroll which is a shame. You seldom hear that quality anymore.
From the film dr Zhivago..this version really touched my heart... Zhivago was smitten with the young Lara.. he lost her to his rival and how sad to see his true love taken away on a sleigh sad.
I love Ray since the 50´s. I wonder why are 8 male singers and 7 female singers? may be a music thing? and one mic per 4 or 3 singers, now musicians use 2 mics per singer in recordings *wink* Thank you from frozen Patagonia, Argentina.

@ I so thank you. You do know about Ray, it is amazing.
Manfred - I have been poking around the internet looking for Ray Conniff Christmas music. There were 3 albums? I have seen a number of compilation albums that are just re-issues of materiel from the original albums. Also, I ran across several youtube posts that say Ray Conniff - We Wish you a Merry Christmas 96 (th-cam.com/video/27lOcKkmXYM/w-d-xo.html) , Clearly this is not the 62 recording, but it does sound like his arrangement. Do you know what this is?

Hi there, in fact, Ray Conniff recorded four Christmas albums. The last one, titled "'S CHRISTMAS" was only released in Brazil and for subscribers of PBS in the States. It featured re-recordings of songs he recorded for "Christmas With Conniff", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Here We Come A-Caroling" plus two instrumentals, previously not recorded. (The PBS release only features one of them.) You are right, some uploads on TH-cam do NOT feature the Ray Conniff Singers but a group that recreated Ray's arrangements for his "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" album. (You can tell the difference immediately when you listen to the rhythm section and bass.) I have three of their CDs, which feature the same tracks in different sequence. On one of them the group is named "Peter Carrol Singers", and on another CD it says "The Starlite Holiday Chorus", and on CD #3 the group is unnamed. They all use the name Ray Conniff in big letters on the front, which is very misleading. If you want the original recordings, look for a two CD set titled "The Complete Columbia Christmas Recordings". Unfortunately, his fourth one is not included, because it was recorded for Avril Records in 1999. If you find any of the sound-a-like ones on the internet, please write a comment saying that these recordings are not by Ray Conniff. Thanks.
@ Thanks so much for the information. I have been a Ray Conniff fan since my grandmother played me "Tie me Kangaroo Down Sport" in 1966 (I was 6). That was one of my favorite songs as a child. I think Ray's version is better than the original. I have been commenting on those bootleg versions. I just wanted to make sure I had the facts. I knew you would know.
Forget today's rubbish ...this is music for the ages thank God.
I agree 💯 percent with you
The Ray Conniff singers had the best harmony ever. Wish they could still sing for us.
❤right one of the best songs
So beautiful song!Christmas 2024
The 1960s and 1970s gave us great memories and music 🎵🎶🎵🎶

This is the definition of good music. What a rare talent Ray Conniff was. His music lives forever.
I like to listen this song again and again. I've heard this song just now.
Love Ray Conniff and singers. I was a child of the 1960s and 70s. My friends made fun of me because I have always loved this kind of music.
Be Proud.
You have class and good taste.
My friends didn't understand me also.
Except I could beat the hell out of them.

Este Señor con su orquesta me embelesado y no puedo dejar de escucharlo ❤❤
I have the 1966 vinyl record which I play regularly. Full of great songs
Wonderful! How I wish we still could listen to music like this on the BBC instead of the awful noise that's played on Radio 2 daytimes these days
Nos hace recordar tiempos pasados que nunca volverán pero si podemos sentirlos.😊😅😊😅
I first saw the movie in 1966 at fort belvior while in the army. I was spell bound and have been ever since.
I'm absolutely amazed with this rendition.
Somewhere, my love there will be songs to sing
Although the snow covers the hope of spring
Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold
And there are dreams all that your heart can hold
Someday we'll meet again my love
Someday whenever the spring breaks through
You'll come to me out of the long ago
Warm as the wind, soft as the kiss of snow
Lara my own, think of me now and then
God speed my love till you are mine again
You'll come to me out of the long ago
Warm as the wind soft as the kiss of snow
Till then my sweet think of me now and then
God speed my love 'til you are mine again
Thank you it's Dec 11, 23! Enjoy your holidays!
