Thanks for the video! If you like the Kalopanax, you will love Manihot grahamii, it reminds me of it. Pretty hard to find, but looks sensational. And apparently it's super fast in the growing season
It's a slow grower. I planted it out in spring 2023. It was only 35 cm. Didn't really grow. Lost it's leaves in november. It's grown 10cm in the last month. It only seems to grow with the new "flush" of leaves. I'm really happy it survived the very very wet winter. Also, it doesn't like strong wind. Another one, which was a lot bigger, was planted out in the front garden (not a sheltered spot). And died because the hard wind in December and January.
I'm looking to plant out my Kalopanax this season. I do have a broarder leaved variety than yours, more like oversized maple leaves! I'm also going to try the B.fatsioides in a sunny spot, since the leaves are much thicker than B.mitis i hope it will take more sun.
Yes please more!! I would love one but maybe not a good idea while they are still expensive as I have a major snail issue.May be wrong but I thought Yorkshire Chris has a Kalopanax. It's been on my wish list. Going to have to seek out that phormium!
I think there are two things negative on Brassaiopsis. Not even thinking about the snales, once it grows larger it will only get a spiky stem, trunk, and the leaves will be very high in the sky. Secondly lost mine in a not so cold winter, so hardyness ...
This was great 👍 looking forward to the next one. 🤓
Thank you for the encouragement.
Look forward to the next one, good stuff. Nice details on the plants
Thank you. I’ve done episode 2 and hopefully film episode 3 this weekend. Cheers
Love this , keep it going 👌🌴🌴
Cheers. I really appreciate the comment.
Always good to watch. Appreciate any thoughts or knowledge you have. Its great to get inspiration for varieties to try.
I appreciate that!

Hi. Yes I love Manihot Grahamii and it’s on my list of plants to buy this year. Hoping to get it in the next few weeks. Cheers.
Looking fwd to seeing it feature in one of your Talking Plants episodes
I've got the Kalopanax in the garden and it's hardy. Stunning plant indeed.
Cheers. How long has it been planted out and has it grown well?

Hi. I’m not sure how well Fatsioides would do in a sunny Spot to be honest. I’m going to plant mine in dappled shade. Cheers.

Thank you. I’m glad you liked it.
B. Hispida has tough leathery leaves.
I have grown Hispida but mine died last year. I’m going to replace it though.

Sorry to hear you lost yours. Which variety and what lows did you have.
