Just an observation, but I believe the canned asparagus would read as high in IRON, even if it was a new can. Asparagus is a vegetable that is naturally high in Iron content.
I grew up about 10 miles from a canning factory in Indiana. I learned a few years ago that companies order so many cans of product and are labeled for that company....same green beans for Del Monte, etc can come from the same vat, farm, etc.

It's occurred to me that we had the same exact can opener from when I was a kid in the 90s until maybe five years ago when it finally became way too dull to slice through anything and I always wondered how old it was, so I guess I know now. Makes sense since a lot of our stuff growing up was things family gave us from the 70s and 80s since we were all dirt poor at the time and it was what they could spare.
