- Shakuntala Railways, built during the British Raj is a 190 km long narrow gauge railway line between Yavatmal and Murtijapur. During the colonial era, trains on this track were run by Great Indian Peninsular Railway (GIPR) which operated across Central India.

This area should be made a museum, involving the station a few buildings, coaches, engines, two set of tracks one with passenger coaches and the other with freight boxes. Could include both engines the steam and the diesel. Cordon the area off with a fence. The authorities could put it on the website as a tourist area. Those who love trains will surely try to visit and see this piece of history. Thank you for bringing this to us

1) मुर्तिजापूर यवतमाल
2) मुर्तिजापूर अचलपूर(अंजनगाव सुर्जी)
3) मुर्तिजापूर खंडवा(MP)
2 नं की लाईन 2020 तक चालू थी LOKDOUN के बाद बंद हो गई

ये ट्रेन बहोत धीमी चालती थी. 2014 की बात है मैं मेरी बाईक लेके अकोला से अमरावती जा राहा था तो बिचमे इस ट्रेन का फाटक आया जो की बंद था. 5 मिनिट बाद ट्रेन आयी और फाटक पर ही रुक गयी. ठीक से देखा तो पटरी पे कुछ बकरिया खडी थी. तो ट्रेन का ड्राइवर उतरा उसने बकरिया भगाई और फिर इंजिन मे बैठ कर ट्रेन आगे ले गया😂 That is so memorable for me

1997 me main bhi howbagh jabalpur(victoria medical college) at age of 13 fathar k sath by that route gaya tha..very beutiful natural jungle k beech se jaate hue..and kuch junglee fruits shayad bhilwa k ful(buy frm local station adivasi ) ko khate hue jouney kiye the and beech me nainpur bhi aaya tha...purani yaad dila diya apke comment ne..thanks😊
भारत कि एकमात्र एसी रेल जो जहा से उटती है वही ठहरती है (मावली से बड़ीसादडी 82किमी का ट्रेक हे सर्दी के मोसम मे आफिम की खुश्बू के साथ तीस किमी प्रती घंटा चलती थी बड़ा मजा था याद फिर ताजा हो गयी आज !!!

I have spent my childhood travelling in this train from Achalpur to Murtizapur. Ticket cost used to be 11 rs per person and we were getting a hard yellow paper ticket... I used to collect those. 😍😍😍😍😍♥️♥️♥️♥️

Sandeep sir I have a question/doubt that is when all the India was getting AC overhead wires then why did Mumbai-Pune line got DC overhead wires ?
DC motors are easy to use without much processing with power electronics that was not available when they get introduced in 1925 at Mumbai. Secondly DC requires less voltage (1500 V) compared to AC (25000 V). Mumbai trains are very old and hence they are using that aged old DC technology. Now it is changing. Most of the trains, especially newer air conditioned trains are AC motor trains.
Mumbai Pune line already converted to AC traction in 2016
