- I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I couldn’t even utter a word during the MV. It's ridiculous how quickly this song got me in my feels. There are moments where you just have to shut up and just be there with the emotions, with the present and take everything in and this was one of those moments. I needed to take that time to be present and assess things and I needed to not say a word to truly appreciate the feelings and emotions. The feeling of coming back home and being greeted by the earth and cozy familiar feeling. This is how this song felt. And hearing their voices somewhat removed the weight that I had on my shoulders and my heart too. This felt like a reward or some sort.
The tears were tears of happiness and relief probably, admiration too. Everyone can relate to this song and that what makes it so remarkable. It is in its simplicity that you find comfort and peace. This was simply beautiful and so incredibly human but also so them. And I missed that, a lot more than I thought I did.

As a YG stan this hits deep just like 2NE1's Goodbye. I think each will be moving on to their individual directions.....it will be a long time before Big Bang releases new music again...if ever sadly. Thank you Big Bang for all of the great memories.

I think it's not the end of the group, it turns out that after the release of still life everyone was thinking that it was the end of BIGBANG and YG's stock was going down so YG had to come out and say that this is not the end of BIGBANG it's a new beginning for the group, , a new beginning of a bigbang with four members.......although of course now the members have new individual and group goals so we will surely have to wait a while for another BIGBANG comeback

Honestly gives me major 2NE1 Goodbye vibes bc there was a huge feeling of moving on. I mean I knew with THAT THING happening & now TOP leaving YG to go out on his own. I was passed out when T.O.P sings "For Life" lol. I was emotionally overwhelmed. The message was clear and strong. I am sad but appreciate the song and their attempts to talk with us, VIPs.

The chair which is shown in the GD's set is a prop of his set showing his story taking us through his solo concert reference, the VIP reference if you see the yellow lights in the back. Each member has a different set, weather and story which they're representing. I get why VIPs might think it's for Seungri but it's not as that was a symbolism for how they're gonna walk their own paths for a while and then comeback, that seat being seungri who has retired from the industry doesn't make sense to any story or symbolism the group might wanna potray through the song.

@@willa9880 Ok I will try to explain the whole mess with T.O.P. (which centers around him smoking marijuana and a possible suicide attempt). There was a 21-year old girl - Han Seohee - who had been a successful trainee with both Source and Jellyfish (was rumored to be considered for both GFriend and Gugudan, as well as JYP) but was asked to leave all three agencies. In March 2016 XIN (who was a stylist at YG and a close friend of Big Bang) got busted for smoking marijuana in Tokyo. (He had also been caught smoking cocaine in Cali back in 2014 - and there were big fears that the drug scandal would end up involving kpop idols because he was close friends with several.) Apparently they considered bringing in Big Bang members but there wasn't enough evidence.
One year later, in March 2017 the police began investigating Seohee for illegal drug use. She admitted that she smoked pot to help deal with stress. Apparently she told police that she had smoked marijuana with T.O.P. They apparently found enough evidence to bring him in for a drug test, and he tested positive. At first he denied it, but he ended up admitting he smoked pot with Seohee in his home 3 times. This happened while T.O.P. was serving as a conscripted police officer (for his mandatory enlistment) - and he was suspended. While he was waiting for a decision from the police, he was found unconscious in the police barracks - he had overdosed on anti-anxiety medication. There were a lot of concerned people who still wondered whether this was an accident or an attempted suicide. Eventually he received 2 years probation and had to re-serve his entire military duty again (till 2019).
This was a huge scandal back in 2017 and basically made T.O.P. shrink away from the public eye, even after he finished his military service. Also, throw in that he saw just how difficult it was for Park Bom (2Ne1) to fully recover from her scandal and I don't blame him for not wanting to promote again.

I just realized something.
Thats why the song is called "Still Life".
If you look it up, Still Life is a genre in the arts. A painting or drawing of objects like flowers, etc.
Its like Bigbang wants to capture their years as Bigbang and preserve it in a painting, but in this case, in a song.
Its impossible to control time as it passes by, but you sure can preserve it.
Instead of referring to the past as "years", they instead used the 4 seasons (which makes up 1year) to describe the good and the bad they went through since they started.
Theres a lot to unpack in here actually. They showered easter eggs all over the place.
Oh btw, I do think they grew their hair on purpose, which symbolizes the time passed.

It's a song that did not represent Bigbang and VIPs only, but all 2nd gen groups and fandoms that went through hardships but are still together after all those years. The waiting that we have to endure to see them again and like what you said, to finally be at home was such a great feeling.

Hearing their voices together again and watching them gave me major nostalgia and made me cry. BIGBANG are literally legends.
This is literally the only song I've been listening to all day and everytime GD'S part comes in after TOP'S verse, i cry even more. This song is already making me cry from the moment Taeyang starts the song off but Idk, i just love a guitar instrumental in a song, there's just so much rawness and vulnerability to it. But Daesung and TOP took it home for me 😭😭😭.
And watching the reactions of veteran kpop fans and hardcore VIP'S just hits different and it makes the experience of listening to Still Life even more beautiful and bittersweet than it already is ❤ So thank you thank you for waiting and remaining hopeful for the boys 😭😭

BigBang is on a level where they just make music that they want. This comeback really feels like a fulfilled promise. Would it hurt if this were a "goodbye" rather than "see you later", yes. But. At the same time... I also feel like this is enough. I want them to be happy. Whatever that means for them. I want to wish them well.
If you want to really know what's going on, see the lyrics of this song. It is heartbreaking. BIGBANG is coming back, but this time without Seungri. Now, they are reminiscing the good old times together, where they rule the world with KPOP music. You will surely understand why they are so respected and loved hardly by the KPOP industry. They are the standard and trademark of KPOP hiphop and RnB type of music. KPOP newbies just don't know about all of this. I haven't really watched reaction videos to Still Life until recently but one thing I noticed from all VIP reactors (I mean, you can tell which ones are VIPs and which ones are just Kpop fans or just reactors in general) is the way they (we) look at Bigbang in this MV. There's a certain longing in the eyes, and very focused to the point of trying not to blink. I still cry no matter how many times I've seen this mv or hear the song on Spotify but I'm happy watching VIP reactions because I don't feel so alone with this feeling for Bigbang. Like, I'm not [crazy] because others feel the same way.

Listening to this song, I realised that you never truly get over your first love. TOP is the one that hits me the hardest even though Taeyang is my ultimate bias and the one that got me into kpop. We haven’t seen TOP in anything other than his random insta updates.
When he sang “For lifeee” and we saw his face that’s when I started crying for real. When everything happened and he finished his military service, he said he would never sing again and my heart truly broke.
I thought this was a comeback but it really sounds like a goodbye to the BIGBANG we know and grew up with.

I became a kpop fan in 2017, at that time i was introduced to BIGBANG as one of the best in the industry. And you know, since 2017 i have never actually seen a release by them but i listened to each of their songs and i felt that there was respect and admiration for the artists who were there. Now it's been almost 5 years since i consider myself a kpop fan and seeing it is witnessing a release of a name as strong as BIGBANG is simply an honor. I can say that i had the familiar feeling when i first heard 2NE1 Goodbye, the same feeling of respect and admiration for the artist, the fans and his entire trajectory.

My first reaction is exactly like you. I feel warm and gratitude for them for finally willing to release song for us, the waiting fans. I didn't realize it at first that it's actually a sad and goodbye song? Many people say so and after multiple hearing I think so too. but for me, it's a goodbye to their past youth, the glory on stage and the painful mistakes, goodbye to all the memories throughout the seasons.
