Okay Industries is located in New Britain, a.k.a New Britski. I got a factory tour back in the '90s. I don't know about now, but at that time, they were OEM supplier to Colt.

I had a boatload of OK industries mags back in the day. Never had an issue that wasn't "user induced". Actually had a muppet load a round in the mag backwards. That was a fun one to clear. Cleaning rod is out, because primer. No joy on extractor because no rim to grab. Ended up having to take the gun apart, and use needle nosed pliers to wiggle the round out.
Also knew a guy who had a brain fart and forgot to put the firing pin retaining pin in. That was fun, had to beat the gun with a rubber mallet, to get it open and unfuck the issue. Near as I can tell, when the carrier group when into battery, the firing pin bounced out the back, and fell into the fire control group.
Short of theoretical cartoon physics, that was the best I could come up with.

I am also a big fan of these mags. Lancer l5 are my favorite. My .300blk setup exclusively used lancers and I haven’t had any issues over a few years of use. Including in simulated FA.
These mags are really wicked because of the texture. No matter how slippery your hands: that texture digs in.

Pmags and Okay / Surefeed are the only Mags I use .
Uncle Sam has been using OKAY Ind Mags for a very long time. Even the OEM Colt mags were by Okay .
I do know around the prime of GWOT Okay couldn't make mags fast enough so they also awarded Brownells with 1 million mag order . Brownells are another solid USGI Mag .
D&H is super solid as well . I do not believe they were ever contracted but BCM and other manufacturers use D&H as OEMs .

It really is quite cool to watch you run and gun on here sometimes. There's a reason why I say that. You run a gun to me in a way that's realistic and comparative to real life. It's not that I don't like from time to time watching some of the other guys that just shred go to work but I feel a lot of what they do is just a show and that's fine. I think a lot of drills and moving while shooting routines that you show are just a little more realistic when comes to real life application.

    • @David-vg1wl

@Freddy Ruger actually Okay Industries are the original supplier of magazines since the early '60's. Also, it has been known that the Gen 1 and 2 Pmags 'lips' will creep open if the ammunition are stored in the mags for any length of time, especially in hot climates-leading to feeding issues. That's why the current Pmags come with a clip to relieve the pressure off of the lips. The E2 mags in the video are basically a textured version of the original magazines so being "not battle proven" is silly.

    • @David-vg1wl
      @David-vg1wl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@Freddy Ruger I not saying PMAGS are bad, but for my use Okay is better. And big Army has not switched to PMAG but has authorized units to use their own funds to procure PMAGs. The Marines approving PMAGs is curious since they tested the PMAGs with FN M4 and it is well documented that HK416 the Marines are going to do not like PMAGs very well. I stopped using PMAGs in my SCAR when I noticed scrape marks on my bolt. At a recent CQB course, one of the student's Sugar Weasel in 300Blk would not feed reliably from his PMAG. I handed him my PMAG and his gun ran well. Why? Who knows, he admitted that he stored the ammo in the mag several days without the tension clip. There are no "Go/No Go" gauges for PMAGs like metal mags-so was it out of tolerance or interoperability issue? About the same time PMAGs came into service--mags are no longer consumable/disposable items but rather issues items that the service member must account for-hence the use of dump pouches. Does this accounting include the tension clip? Funny thing about the metal mags feed issue in the late 80's and 90's was largely resolved by using Magpul follower. The better metal mags use Magpul followers. Lancer mags should be the answer being a hybrid construction--I have a few, time will tell. Lastly if ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain, PMAGS weigh more.

Over the course of my 22+ years on active duty I must have ordered thousands of the Okay mags for my shooters. Even now I have a good inventory of them and they see weekly training use. I do have some Pmags but due to admittedly small physical characteristics, the Pmags being bigger/ longer etc. I normally grab the Okay mags first.
I have also found on some rare occasions the Pmags due not play well with the triple digit AZ heat. I have had some malfunctions with Pmags in intense heat that does not occur with the Okay mags. It could be a heat vs plastic thing or it could be that I abuse them. I'm NOT a static, range fashionista myself and my gear get a full workout.
Not sure why, Okay would stop production? I will look into that.

@@hurt1704 Dont listen to these clowns---the AR15 was designed to feed from a alloy 20 round BOX magazine and that is what works and always has......the square mag well is NOT designed for a curved 30 round magazine....stick with 20 rounders.....GI type or Lancer are best. Pmag 20 rds are okay when new but dont last as long....but are cheap top buy. I stopped using 30 rounders ages ago---and stopped having mag problems since.....

@@hurt1704 The dimpling on the e2's can be a plus for some, but not an issue for me. I have found on a couple of the e2's they stick just a little in the mag well, but nothing a little emry cloth can't fix. I do prefer the normal mags, as I have never had an issue with them in over 30+ years. The rep at Okay Ind. told me they would stop production this summer and continue to ship until the end of the year. He did also recommend the Dura Mag as a replacement which are very similar to the okay mags and also made in the USA. I have one for testing and will rotate it into my training and see how it goes.

@@chadhaire1711 That's not entirely true. Each rifle is a little different, so to say this is junk or that is the best is not an honest statement.

Personal preference but I don't even consider a mag for purchase unless it has a view window or load indicator.

I like these mags for lightweight, slick magwell insertion. I really dont care about the nubbs, hate the name stamped on the body. If they stay cheap, I will buy more, but Magpul is always cheap & reliable.

I’m only halfway through the video so I might be speaking to soon but isn’t Okay ind. getting out of the arms industry? I heard they are leaning into their medical equipment side of things, of course this doesn’t mean that someone else might buy the division. Honestly this is just something I’ve heard, take it with a grain of salt. Well you just mentioned it as I finish writing this post, lol. Love your work man thanks!
