1060 was incredible jump in performance. The difference between 3060 and 4060 is like 10%, so meh, and it has 4gb less VRAM. That generation was really a let down.

Been playing for 4 hours straight today on my 3060. Playing on 4k and 90 to 110 fps and it's amazing. Btw, If you wanna turn off the fps limit, turn on VSync, The fps limit will be turned off. Rockstar quality game right here😂

Exactly. It is always super fun to see how much performance one can extract out of older/worse hardware. Same is true for COUs as well. :) Currently running a 7950x3D and 4090, therefore I already know my rig can run this fairly easily. It's still interesting to see how certain cards hold up.

Glad to see that my 1060 6gb can handle this game, I always wanted to play this game. Back when I bought the xbox 360 I wanted to buy this game but never did it. This card was the first card I ever bought with my own money and I still have it. Currently I'm playing Horizon zero dawn but I've played other games like God Of War 2018, RDR2 (I haven't finished this game yet but I will) and other ones. Also nice video mate.

My legion go is absolutely struggling with the latest demanding games. It runs black ops 6 really well though apart from zombies where the cpu gets absolutely battered. Stuff like silent hill 2 remake is off limits but rdr1 runs quite good.
It seems to be on par with its time on the old cards. I’m sure back then if you played this game at 50-60 fps 1080p maxed it would of looked “ insane” lol
First off, thanks for the tests! Really nice to see some older hardware being tested with this game, and then also so many generations of the same class of GPU - pretty cool. 😁 It seems like your benchmark is rather lightweight, though, and thus not too representative of performance. At least I had checked benchmarks from a site I generally trust and in their results the GTX 1060 just achieved 66 fps average on 1080p Ultra, with FSR Native though (so maybe ~75* with no AA? bummer you didn't test it, especially as you tried with the 960 before^^). The RTX 2060 did 118 fps. Their benchmark scene was in "Hennigan's Stead" because of the vegetation and volumetric dust, which is rather demanding, but _still_ not a worst-case scenario. For some more numbers, in 1440p (Ultra, FSR Native) the 2060 did 93 fps and the 3060 108 fps. * that's what I would expect at least. But given the _huge_ performance difference between the 1060 and 2060, much more than for you, I have a feeling FSR(3) doesn't work correctly or just very slow on Pascal..
Amazing. I played it back on PS3 when it realeased, and from the looks of it my GTX 670 that I had back then would still be suitable at 1080p lol. I see FSR is off which makes sense, I remember my 670 not being able to use it in RDR2. Also, yes, I did play RDR2 first on my GTX 670 (4GB) before upgrading to my 6700xt lol.
Currently playing RDR 2 on my Core i5 12th gen, RTX 4060 ti (8GB) & 32 GB DDR4 Ram. Easily hitting 70-80 fps on high-ultra with 2K Resolution. This game came right on time for me!!!! Will play it right after completing RDR 2 and hoping to get even more great performance results for this title!! Keep creating quality content mate. anyone with older gpus, just lower shadow quality from Ultra to high, huge fps boost and quality reduction is not even noticeable. Put AA to FXAA, every other settings doesn't have huge impact on fps, also Krizpy with gtx 900 & above u can use FS3 native anti aliasing option other than FXAA
I always lower shadows to medium simply because i don't like razor sharp shadows it looks unnatural to me. I think it's the reason why as of late we get the 'soft-shadow' option in the latest game releases. Funny part is the medium shadow option almost looks the same as the more expensive 'soft-shadow' option :)
Yeah, if a benchmark channel is missing a 1660 benchmark, then just watch the 1060 benchmark. The 1660 is approximately on the same level of performance, but a little tiny bit better, as the person above me said.
That gigabyte GTX 660 is a pure classic. Gigabyte was glorious back then! I had the exact same one. Also, that MSI GTX 960 is another classic! I used to have a green legendary edition of it. Although it wasn't as good as 660 in its times, it was still decent. 60fps @ FHD @ almost every game on launch for 200 USD. It sad to look at what PC gaming had become.
Completed the game on medium 1080p on gtx 960 paired with 15 year old xeon, 60+ fps most of the time with just few drops in blackwater or bigger mexican cities, good optimization for a console port

Wild requirements, I was playing this on a Surface Pro 8 yesterday, 11th Gen i7 with Iris Xe graphics, very playable at 1440x960 max settings (did have some odd rectangles in the skybox though)

Got that exact model of the gigabyte windforce gtx 660 2gb and I got it for 20$ back in 2020 (It was my very 1st gpu buy after highschool), got to platinum on apex legends back in season 4-7 using that, truly a nice find imo. I did trade it for a 2060+cash last year, but before that it was really usable overall really it was not bad compared to a 750ti with atleast 50$ back in 2020 I think (it was my first time upgrading/buying a gpu). Glad to see its still kicking in 2024 👏👏

RX 7600 with a 5600G and 24GB of ram here, runnning 1440p slightly over 'High' preset and it runs great! No numbers, but also no stutters or dips, so it's over 60 and smooth! (IG I could do Max eh?) I HAD THE SAME 660 :) Nostalgia

The same flickering of objects in RDR1 was on the Suyu emulator, but the Ryujinx developers somehow fixed it. Tested this game on a GTX 950M with an i5-6200u CPU at 2016 dying laptop with very old HDD.

Ultra shadows is the most intense setting. By lowering it to High your FPS increases drastically, and in the same time, visual hit is almost non existen. I bet GTX660 is capable of 50+ FPS all of the time with High shadows

The 960 was one of the last video cards with analog output (DVI-I) so you still can connect an old CRT on it for the real retro experience.
I want a GTX 980 Ti just for that.

The true minimum system requirement of this game should be GTX 750ti for medium settings and recommended should be GTX 960
I think Rockstar meant 60 fps on 1080p as minimum even though the game was published on a 30 fps console.

Lowering shadows to high, saves a lot of fps
Setting the game to medium gives a 40% uplift in performance and barely looks much worse.

In rdr1 you will be 100% locked to 144fps through the entire game at 1440p ultra.

Since there is no gtx 1660 tested here, I did it myself. 2K res all graphic options max and FSR 3 quality settings was getting over 100FPS easy.
