Hi Lizzie, You will always get some beautiful romantic vocals & harmonization when you react & listen to The Platters and other "Doo-Whop" Groups from that era!!! Well done my friend!!!
This was one of the early great songs of the Doo Wop era. I had the pleasure of seeing the Platters in concert in Reno, Nevada in 1998. Of course none of the original singers were still with the group. They were fantastic.
Fantastic classic by one of the greatest '50s groups! It'd be awesome if you would also react to "My Prayer" by The Platters (1956), it's a beautiful love song with gorgeous lyrics. Honestly Liz, there's SO MUCH outstanding music from the '50s and '60s, and your reactions to them are such a blast to watch, that l hope you'll extend those two decades an additional week for your reactions. This is so enjoyable!
Tony Williams, in my view, had one of the greatest voices of all time. I was a kid when they were most popular, so I didn't hear them until their music was played on the radio as golden oldies or oldies but goodies. Their harmonies were always so great. I love them to this day. I like that you take time to discuss the nuances of the performances.
There is so much beauty in the world that you have yet to see, I grew up with this music, The Platters were huge, try "Smoke Get in Your Eyes", "Twilight Time" are musts, love your perceptive reactions, God Bless!
I just subscribed because seeing someone in your age bracket who appreciates the great music of the late 1950s and into all the decades beyond it is so refreshing for someone my age. I learned about "real music" growing up in New York in the late 50s and then the 60s and went to the classic rock and roll shows of that era at the Brooklyn Fox and Brooklyn Paramount theaters hosted by some of the great DJs like Murray the K and others. You may be young but, in terms of music, you've got an old soul in the best sense of that term.
Actually pretending to be alrighty is a good first step to healing. New studies show all these years of talking problems with therapists, just keeps you from moving on. Fake it til you make it! lol. Great reaction
The Platters are a timeless treasure, and we're very fortunate to have videos of this '50s powerhouse group. Anytime you drift back into the '50s, another of their hits will be waiting for you! One of the best was "Only You" th-cam.com/video/rAUJSc6unAg/w-d-xo.html
Tony Williams was a phenomenal singer. They don't make them like that anymore. I like Zola Taylor (1938-2007). She did a lot of solo material such as : Love Me, Or Leave Me Mean To Me My Old Flame I Don't Know Why Who Wouldn't Love You
This song reminds me of my mother. Cleaning and cooking on Saturdays while listening to this great music. Tony Williams is so good that his voice doesn't seem real.
This was playing on the radio when my dad took me to get a haircut (flat top crew cut) at the barber shop. And then afterwards to the the drug store soda fountain. Those were some of the hold overs from the 1950's for sure.
One of the best recordings of one of the best songs ever recorded by one of the best groups of all time, sang by one of the best singers of all time if not the best in everything. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. This song brings a tear to a glass eye.
My sister is 4 years older than me and I was 7 when this came out. So, I got to hear this via her. She would watch The American Bandstand after school.
Lizzie great to be catching up with you again, missed you. Love the hair by the way. I know you sometimes like orchestral tracks, so I have an old TV theme you might enjoy, its from a programme here in the UK from 1972 called Van Der Valk and it's called "Eye Level" by The Simon Park Orchestra. Going further back, by 11 years, so 1961 "Stranger On The Shore" by Acker Bilk, was the theme from another TV programme of the same name in the UK. And if you really need to chill, may I suggest "Albatross" by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Take care of yourself sweet girl, listen to your body and it'll tell you what it needs.
Lizzy Great to See you on TH-cam Beautiful hope you are Doing Good The Platters One Of The Greatest Groups of All Time and Tony Williams One of The Greatest Voices of All Time Another Highly Recommend Song by The Platters Smoke Gets In Your Eyes Superb Song Music
Dear Liz . . . so nice to see that you appear to be doing well and in good spirits . . . . 💯 love Smoke Gets in Your Eyes 💚🎶🎵
The Platters doing "Only You" really shows off the voice of the great Tony Williams.
Maybe the greatest singer ever.
"Twilight Time" and "Only You" are two Platter's songs with a more positive romantic outlook.
This is my childhood...my father loved the Platters...he listened to them all the time

Ebb Tide by The Platters was my parent's wedding song in 1959...❤❤❤❤ Tony Williams has an incredible voice!!!!❤❤❤
I danced many a mile to this classic hit back in the ‘50s. No autotune back then … just talent.
Love this song! Thanks for reacting and keeping it alive!

My parents were Big Band era but they liked The Platters. So do I.
Fabulous music!! Love this song!! Thank you dear Liz!! 😊
these past few weeks you have been getting a REAL music education. The lady in the group is sooo cute.
Yes, what a wonderful smile she has.
I'm 76 and I will listen to this music all day long. Don't even mention the word "Rap" to me. And Zola, oh my, she could have been Miss Universe.
its very interesting to watch you react to these classic 50s/60s vocal groups. :)
I grew up listening to the Platters and Temptations. Diana Ross and The Supremes, the music of this era will never be matched.
Please never change you are funny love the faces you make
I could see instant love on your face with the first verse. Everyone reacted the same way.

For me it is the voices particularly that of the lead singer that make the song.
Great reaction to a fantastic song 🎉

"Smoke gets in your eyes", one of my favorite songs, EVER!
One of my favorite groups.

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes.
This song brings a tear to a glass eye.
Thank you Lizzie. I grew up listening to the Platters. Everything they did was great. Had a wee bit of a crush on Zola too 😚 haha. Great reaction.
Brings back memories.
You're doing one of my other favorites of this genre. (You have good taste.)
My sister is 4 years older than me and I was 7 when this came out. So, I got to hear this via her. She would watch The American Bandstand after school.
Fake it til you make it work for you! 🎶🎵
Keep the groovy songs coming our way Lizzie 💚

Try the Drifters "Some Kind of Wonderful" ...great love song
This is DOO WOP. Another good doo wop group is Dion and the Belmonts. Here are a couple of their songs, RUN AROUND SUE and RUBY BABY.

Another great song of their's is, ONLY YOU.
You are beautiful dear. I appreciate a lot your appearance and your analysis ❤
TWIGLIGHT TIME, BABY, TOO!
Twilight Time - another great one of theirs.
The Platters are great Lizzy
Love the Platters
No click track, no computer bass line, all real with humans playing instruments, no one sitting behind a computer picking the bass and percussion.
You should listen to the female singer ( Zola Taylor ) and her songs called ( He's Mine / Dance With Me Henry )
Beautiful singing, but breaking up is really tuff. It comes across, but still hope springs eternal.
