Shawn, as others have said, you would LOVE the movie American Graffiti! The movie is great in its' own right, but...the soundtrack, has your name all over it!💜 Maybe you could react to the movie as a future reaction???
Great reaction. This is such a great song. It is before my time. However, I love music from the mid fifties through the sixties even though I was born in 69. This is absolutely great music.
Such a classy group. So glad we had such great music back in the day. You might want to react to Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. Thanks so much for the great reaction. Great channel. 👏👏🥰
Oh, my goodness! My parents played the Platters all the time. This and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes are my faves by them. My dad introduced me to the 60’s and the 70’s music. 😊😊 Janis, Ray Charles , Three Dog Night, etc. There are so many great songs during that time. ,
Love The Platters. I agree with others regarding their picks, especially "Twilight Time". Thanks for the reaction , Shawn. This place feels like home to me. Blessings all.
They were singing in the late 50’s, very popular in those days. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, “ is fantastic. Don’t know if you already played this one. 👍💛💛
I remember listening to this song as a kid back in the 70s on the oldies radio station from Tijuana that the LA lowriders used to listen to at night while cruising the boulevard. Lowriders loved those old oldies.
@@bryanCJC2105 spent many a Friday nights driving the Blvd with friends. Listening to oldies and doo wop. What I wouldn't give to be that young again. 68, 69, 70
Shawn, I love that you cover reactions to several generations. ❤I LOVE The Platters!! "Twilight Time" is a lovely Platters song too. American Graffiti is one of my all-time favorite movies next to Star Wars, (of course). 😀I appreciate what you do here. Say "Hi" to Shanna. 💜
One of my favorite oldies! Beautiful vocals and great lyrics. For a funny song, you should check out Chuck Berry “My Ding-a-ling ”. It’s fun and funny, and I think you’d get a laugh. ❤
This is another fabulous group from the 50's-60's. This was the time of classy romantic heartfelt songs. Sadly they don't make music like this anymore. They had so many great hits such as "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", "Only You", "Enchanted", "(You've Got) The Magic Touch", "My Prayer", "Twilight Time", "Harbor Lights" etc.
The Pretenders was my play list for my wedding in 1975. I was 21. Was an unusual but much enjoyed by all selection Loved them forever! Twilight Time. The absolute best ❤
In the 1950s records were put out as singles on 45s, but some were still put out on 78s. Frank Sinatra is credited with having the first Pop album, In The Wee Small Hours, in 1948. Others say that Rubber Soul, by The Beatles, was the first Rock Album.
@@visaman No one suggested they were "concept" albums. It was very simple: records were singles. Period. There were "albums" of singles during the 78s era -- each single was in its own sleeve, and the sleeves were gathered together in binders. Then LPs were invented (the first had 10 tracks0. And the way to fill them out, and make money, was to issue what had only been singles gathered together as albums. Go through such as Chuck Berry's catalog: a bunch of singles, and then his first LP comprised of those singles.
Not only did American Graffiti have a great soundtrack but it also has a who's who of stars that got their start in the movie. Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Harrison Ford, Cindy Williams, Bo Hopkins, McKenzie Phillips, Suzanne Summers, and an appearance by Wolfman Jack Highly recommend you give it a watch in your spare time. 👍👍
The Platters were just plain class and talent. “Only You”, “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”, “My Prayer” and “Twilight Time” are all great Platters songs!
Smoke Gets In Your Eyes
💜that song and I first heard it in the movie American Graffiti, where it was used so perfectly!
Check out their "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
THE PLATTERS - the absolute class act of the 50's. vocal perfection.
Born in 62, and grew up listening to my parents favorites from the 50's - The Platters were definitely in their collection 🥰🥰🥰
Shawn, as others have said, you would LOVE the movie American Graffiti! The movie is great in its' own right, but...the soundtrack, has your name all over it!💜 Maybe you could react to the movie as a future reaction???
Saw them at the Avalon. Right after they sang "The pretender", Tony
shouted out: "What Time Is It"? The audience replied....."It's Twilight Time".
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Oh I love that!

Skilled musicians and vocalists that practiced for days to create real music, no computer enhancements, no click track, all real.
All of the Platters songs are incredibly beautiful
Just love this so much....thanks!!!
Tony Williams lead vocals are some of the best....pure magic
I'm a psychotic Elvis fan but Tony Williams may be the best singer ever.
My mother used to play these 50's classics on her 45, we grew up listening to the Platters, The Four Tops, Temptations, Elvis! I love this music.
People actually had to have talent then.
My late father's favorite song. Always moving to me.
If you haven’t seen the movie American Graffiti, you must! The music is amazing!
I always think of that movie when I hear this song. Great suggestion, @KimSimful!

One of my earliest musical memories.
That and "Harbor Lights" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"..

"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
@@jnagarya519 That too!
Tony Williams in his prime is one of the greatest pop singers of all time. He had a tremendous tone, full and resonant with character.
Smooth. Kinder gentler rock and roll. Thanks.

So, so good from a by gone time, Freddie Mercury brought it back to a new audience ... great song
Got to see them perform in 1968 at the University of Miami.
With non-original members.

Encore Of Golden Hits is a greatest hits album. Most of these songs were released as "singles" on 45 rpm records. (early ones on 78 rpm).
Awesome! Love this group and their musical harmony. Also check out Little Anthony & the Imperials.
♥♥♥
Loved it when it was released, and I still love it.
❤❤❤
A classic
You just listened to greatness! Thanks for sharing with us, and God bless you!
"Enchanted" is another great Platters' song along with the other ones mentioned.
watch the movie. It's in my top 5 of all time

Frank Sinatra is credited with having the first Pop album, In The Wee Small Hours, in 1948. Others say that Rubber Soul, by The Beatles, was the first Rock Album.
For some years records were released on BOTH 78s and 45s during the transition to 45s.
"ONLY YOU" IS TOP OF THE LINE!
The platters are great. Good tunes !
The Encore of Golden Hits was released in 1960. It was a collection of singles by The Platters.
The first several years of LPs were actually collections of singles. See as examples Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and Muddy Waters.

You should listen to songs by the female singer ( Zola Taylor ) ( He's Mine / Dance with me Henry )

Very good.
Checkout Freddie Mercury’s version.
I second that suggestion.
Two other great hits from the 50s: "Mr Sandman" and "Lollipop" by the Chordettes

Doo Wop at its finest. Tony Williams - RIP. Back when lyrics actually meant something....
Steve Perry references this song in Journeys “I’ll be Alright Without You “.
Nobody like Tony Williams!
I'm not pretending when I tell you, Shawn, you will love "Presence of the Lord" by Blind Faith😅
This is what illiterate "Rap" and "Hip-Hop" replaced.
Prison filling music. Created for profit.
😂😂 and sad.
