One of the best female voices ever. In my personal opinion the 70s is the best decade of music hands down.

A reviewer with Rolling Stone once said "Karen Carpenter's voice is like the sound of a lover whispering in your ear." I still get chills when I hear her singing, and I graduated high school in 1978.

One of the top female voices of all time. Gone to soon. She passed at age 32 of eating disorder. Karen's is smooth and rich contrallo voice which is a low pitched. She can sing an emotion which alot of singers don't do well. She is unique. She can switch from chest voice to head voice easily. From octave to octave. The best!! Do more please.

You can cite those who sing louder, higher, and bark, but NO ONE can sing as well as KC. NO ONE. Such a tragedy this woman left us too soon with her God-given, untrained talent with a hauntingly enchanted voice and singurly best female drummer of her time.

Another timeless gem from Paul Williams and Roger Nichols (who also co-wrote We've Only Just Begun) as only Karen could do it justice. You didn't utter a single word during your reaction Liz, which was perfect because your eyes and smile spoke volumes. Thank you for yet another beautiful Carpenters reaction, I hope there'll be plenty more of them to come. ❤️ 🤗

I'm glad you are discovering the artists of the 1970s. It was truly a good time in history for music. I graduated high school in 1975, and I felt like the world shuddered on its axis when I learned of Karen Carpenter's death. Some of her music seems so melancholy in perspective. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and impressions.

Her brother did the arrangements on all their music, they had great chemistry. Her drum talent was highly respected by the best drummer of the 60’s-70’s, Buddy
Rich. Her death was so tragic, she suffered from an eating disorder which back in those days
    was unknown and because they
really had no treatment lead to her death. 🙏🏻✝️❤️

I saw the Carpenters in 1972. Karen sang and drummed at the same time. I was blown away to see Karen sing and drum. She drummed and sang at the same level as Phil Collins or Levon Helm, check out on TH-cam her cover of the Beatles Help and Dancing in the Streets. Karen was known for recording a song in one take. In other words, the first take was perfect. Check out the song Superstar-he recording is the first take. She read the lyrics of the song off either a napkin or envelope. I think the very best song Karen sang is Trying to get the Feeling Again. The song was lost and then found by Richard --he released it 11 years after Karen died and 19 years after it had been recorded. It is on TH-cam. At one point, you hear her turn the page on the music sheets.

You certainly chose a wonderful song to play for us, Lizzie The Gangster Hippie and The Stuffed Squad.
When you're posting a video, I listen to the lyrics calmly and serenely. I have lost count of how many times that I've heard "Rainy Days and Mondays".
As I listened along with you Lizzie, I finally heard and understood:
"What I've Got Has Come And Gone Before"
Up until your video, all I understood was that Rainy days and Mondays make her sad.
I need for you to know that I appreciate your videos, Lizzie. On top of the serene feeling I get. I know how much you 'prepare' before each of your videos.

Lizzie... You've GOT to check out Tori Holub's version of The Carpenter's "We've Only Just Begun." If you're not familiar with The Carpenters' version of that song then, of course, react to that first.

I would love to see you jam this beautiful song by the Dramatics called "Be My Girl" and dedicate it to yourself.

Karen was magical in so many ways. I've never gotten over her dying so young. What wonders did you take to the grave Karen?

Karen Carpenter's voice could bring the soul out of the soul-less.
