Thank you - nice thing to say. 50 years supporting them this year and he was my boyhood hero. He was the best player I'd seen in a West Ham shirt until Paulo Di Canio came along. I begrudged handing the accolade to Paulo (but it was deserved - just)!

If Brooking was Dutch, German or Italian the press would have raved about him as a international player.

Ron Greenwood made Football League history, this game, when he picked Clyde Best, Ade Coker and Clive Charles to play against Spurs the first three black players to feature together in the same team.

I'm sorry, I don't know the names of the AC Milan defender from the 90's or the Real defender from recent times. They were great defenders but Bobby Moore did his work without being dirty.

Any West Ham win is something to be enjoyed - but just that bit more when against Tottenham !! 😎😎

Players don’t even get muddy now…

That's because we don't have muddy pitches, mate - Almost all pitches are to some extent - 'hybrid'.

West Ham should have had Gilzean instead of Greaves in exchange for Martin Peters..

    Pitches were bad back then!

If you think this pitch was bad, watch the Man City v West Ham video. It's easy to get nostalgic about 70's football- both teams fielded great players in this game, but some things have improved, notably the pitches.

The West Ham goalkeeper Peter Grotier later went on loan to Lincoln City. After some impressive performances Lincoln wanted to sign him permanently, but couldn't afford the fee. So the supporters stepped in, raised the fee, and he became a Lincoln player.
