I almost drowned once and it is true that I started reaching the top but I couldn't eventually I started losing consciousness like falling asleep, it felt very calm and my mind was completely blank and then boom! my step father grabbed my hand and got me out before I lost full consciousness. What I never felt was the burning feeling.

As a survivor of drowning I can confirm ALL of this is true I was 7 years old and just finished my swimming lessons and was finally aloud in the big pool but on the shallow side only my brother had finished all of his classes before me since he was older so he and his friend were hanging out in the deep end I wanted to impress them so I swam over there they were talking and didn’t notice I was even coming over there I started to slide underneath the water and soon realized I was drowning I was under the water for a minute before they noticed I was not breathing and my brothers friend pulled me up. If you ever read this thank you so much you are the reason I’m here today and if for some reason you see this it was at life time fitness and the friend you were with was Hudson.

This is so true. This happened when I was 9. I was hanging out at my cousins house when we all jumped into the pool. We all got hungry and ate. I jumped back in the pool and I was only like 3'1 so I couldn't swim in 12 feet. These girls (lets call them Rebecca And Kailie ionk) laughed at me and teased me until I tried to impress them and jumped in 12 feet.
I couldn't stop panicking and screaming. The girls were still laughing and calling me weak. Everything was going blurry. No one heard the crying as it was a HUMONGOUS pool. I felt myself sinking to the bottom of the pool and I started to black out. When someone that was practicing scuba diving saw me and came to rescue me immediately. I was running to my mom crying and was practically vomiting water. Rebecca And Kailie's moms heard about it and they got whooped right in front of everyone.
Moral of the story is: Never try to impress anyone if you know it is life threatening or can harm yourself. (or others)

As a lifeguard sometimes you're underwater, trying to save someone or operate equipment, the feeling you get when you drown is none of this, your body will force itself to surface, as you panic and your heart feels like it's going to implode.

I have drowned before and here is the story of how
So basically I went to the public pool with my family to just hang and out and go swimming ofc. So basically I didn’t know how to swim very well so I cannonballed into what I thought was the more shallow part but apparently it wasn’t, the signs on the pools that showed how deep it was were wrong. So at first I panicked when I realized that I couldn’t reach the bottom, and then I tried to swim back up but I couldn’t manage to make it, and my parents were gone at the bathroom to change into their swimsuit so they couldn’t help, so when I was trying to swim back up, I just kept getting water into my mouth and nose and I was coughing up water and inhaling water and everything. So I had goggles on so I could see, I was just trying to swim to the bottom so I could launch myself back up but by the time I was at the bottom it was too late and I had no breath left cause it was around 9 feet deep, so I breathed a ton of water through my nose and it burned my nose and chest so bad, and my vision did get blurry and messed up, but by the time I knew it I was already up onto the concrete coughing up water and blood so yea I just kinda felt some after effects like chest burning and I was scared to go in the water after that.
So that is my story of how I drowned😅

I was really stupid as a kid so I went into a pool and I couldn’t swim and I had one of those pool noodle things to keep me up and it works but my mind was so dumb that I went to the deep end while paddling my feet cuz that’s like the only thing I knew with swimming or whatever and then I think I fell off? And I just fell in the water I think I fell unconscious? idk. I just blacked out I think? I felt the bottom of the pool a tiny bit when I blacked out? And then I just woke up on the bench spitting out water. I don’t know details of it cuz that was years ago. And the one who saved me was my mom! I almost drowned trapped under a sail at a scout camp a few years ago. I would have died most likely if the scouts did not have a strict buddy system in place. My buddy was able to show me an air hole and the way out before I was completely trapped. I remember the panic vividly. Now I have claustrophobia but I still love the water. The utter panic and fear of not surviving it is unreal. It is horrible to experience and I'll thank my lucky stars I wasnt alone and was saved.

watched this video last night before i went to bed. knew i would have some sort of dream about it. Heres the dream:
    *PART ONE*
so i was at school and we were learning about the titanic. the teachers came up with this wild idea that if we experienced what it felt like on the titanic we would learn a lot. the next day at school, the schedule said right after homeroom, “titanic” in bold. after homeroom, we all left the building. I life in the middle of nowhere, but the school must have magically appeared infront of an ocean. it looked like a mild storm was about to come. classes from every grade sat down in lines on a massive dock, and i sat down by my bsf. I had no idea what was going on, but the ocean looked creepy. In the water was a massive inflatible boat tipping back and forth
    part two in ten likes❤
    *PART 2*
so the principal walked up to the top of the dock and explained that we were doing a titanic survival activity. then she said that every student had to have a relative chaperoning us individually. then she announced that the seventh grade was up first. afraid, i got up and my nani appeared and was magically right infront of me. so i chose her and nervously walked down the dock in a line with everyone else in my class.

When I was little I almost drowned to death in a pool, I didn’t really feel a painful burning sensation but it was very uncomfortable sensation that’s hard to describe. Your muscles will feel a burning sensation though mostly because your squirming around so much and chewing through your energy. Once my lungs had filled up with water it almost started to feel relaxing and I’m really not sure why but it almost feels like your falling asleep, once you reach a certain point in drowning it’s not at all painful. I started closing my eyes and things got dark but luckily my dad lifted me up from the water and gave me to my mum at which point I was vomiting up so much water 😅.

From my experience as almost drowning to death when I was 7, this is how it was for me. I was in my moms friends pool swimming on the swallow side. It was a pool that didn’t slowly go down it was just a big drop. Some time later I didn’t know where the drop was going deep I moved my foot slighting and feel to the deep side. As I was touching the bottom of the deep side of the pool I kept trying to push as hard as I coudl to go up and everytime I did that I yelled “help” and “I’m drowning” as best as I could but I really coudlnt I couldn’t get the words out fully since during the sentence water was filling my mouth. After like 2 mintues of doing that I kept going deeper so as I was deeper and couldn’t go up anymore I just tried to hold my breathe as much as I could. And after another mintue my Vision started to blur and it was getting hard to breathe I was already drinking the water. And as I fell like I was going unconscious, my mom jumped into the pool with her clothes on and saved me seconds before I fell unconscious. I gave up as soon as I knew I couldn’t jump my way back up to the surface anymore. But I made it out and pool and to this day it traumatizes me still. Just wanted to tell you guys my story and my experience of almost drowning

I’ve been a lifeguard for years and you went through the first 3 stages of drowning. There are 6 and the 6th one is death. As long as that process is broken before the 6th stage. But you were close to the 4th stage. I’ve never had an issue with swimming so it’s weird to hear about adults who don’t know how to swim bc it’s always just been like a common sense thing to me after I got over the fear. It’s just fear that gets in peoples way. It’s natural to swim. You just need to get over your unnatural fear. But after experiencing that, that fear is valid. Not like these wimps who are afraid of water as grown ass adults and never drown before.

Just to add context, we lived on a river bank in KY. I was always forbidden to go by myself by snuck down and the current was insane after heavy rain (Ohio river Eastern KY). I got swept away almost immediately. Absolutely the most terrifying thing you can imagine. I’m 36 now and still have nightmares

I have a similar experience except it was my sister who nearly drowned. During my families trip to Mytle Beach in 2014 my sister was 4 years old and I was 8, as I went to go build sand castles my sister started walking towards the ocean (there was a rip current that day) and one of the waves knocked her off of her feet and started dragging her into the ocean. Immediately my dad ran and kept into the water and grabbed her. He started swimming through the rip current with my sister and once they got back to land my dad started doing CPR on her and saved her life. She still says to this day that she felt somebody push her towards her dad. And that’s stuck with all of us ever since.

If anyone agrees with me drowning is one of the worst feelings ever without a doubt and definitely one of the most scariest ways to die I remember drowning a few years back at sixflags in the wave pool as the waves were on I went under the water to wet my head and as soon as I got back up I swallowed water by accident and couldn't breath and the waves started pulling me under leaving me completely unable to swim and very panicy I couldn't paddle my legs or my arms right and I could feel myself starting to get exhausted and instantly felt like I wanted to pass out from it so I started going to the bottom untill I was rescued by a life gard who was so sweet and so kind as she helped me catch my breath as I gasped deeply for my air again and was in such relief and I honestly don't even think people tried helping me lol they all just stared at me and didn't even bother to swim after me(at least I don't think because I cldnt rlly see only because I was to panicy and going to the bottem either that or they didn't rlly know what to do or how to help but I can honestly say if it weren't for that super sweet lifeguard who came to my defense I would(possibly)be dead(or mabey not) but thank God it didn't end up wose

I almost drowned. If it wasn't for my friend who pulled me up I would have drowned. True friend right there 💖
Story 1: i was at a pool and i could swim. I was about 9 years. I went on the diving board and pencil dived in. I forgot to take a deep breath and underwater i felt the oxygen leave. I felt heavy and tried to swim up. But i went down. I gave up but i felt a hand grab me and pull me up. And that was my friend who saved me..
It also happened a second time.
    But the 3rd time..
3rd: i was 11. I was going to go swim at the local pool with some friends. I went back on the deep end and we challenged eachother to best jumps in the pool. I did but i got under the board and it wouldn't move. So i couldn't breathe. I also went down and drowned. Multiple CPR and stuff where done and then i woke up with blurry vision and coughing up water.. i now have a deadly fear of water with PTSD and i rarely shower without thinking it will kill me, i rarely drink water but i force myself too and i cant go near or even look at a lake or pool without thinking the same things.

As a snorkeling diver I mainly search for items which will be 15-20 feet deep at a huge lake. Some dives can be even deeper, there was this one particular time. Where I took an extremely deep dive around 30 feet and when I reached the bottom of the lake, I had knew that I had went to far. The bottom of the lake was freezing cold and I was wasting time. Once I noticed that was that deep I thrusted my legs against the floor and had to intake multiple pounds of water. I would later swim back to shore where I would throw up for 15 minutes. I would have to say that this short is pretty damn accurate. Stay safe everyone and don’t be afraid to help those in need of rescue or assistance. Fun fact: normally in movies etc. when there is a drowning scene, the actor or actress calls for help and screams but in real life, there wouldn't be any of that because when you're drowning you can't even speak, you just try to grip on water while feeling chocked

Story time! One of the most memorable drowning experiences was when I was sitting happily in a plastic tube, floating down a indoor lazy river. We were almost halfway there, and knowing there’s a spot for you to get out halfway through, I planned to take it. I tried folding my body through the hole in the middle of the tube and my leg got stuck. I was frantically trying to free myself, my twin sister, trying to get out of hers to save me was just watching at the moment because the water was a bit deep. I eventually gave up and tried just removing my leg on my own, which worked. (with little help from my twin) At this point I was gasping for air wanting to get up, but my bigger sister, who was unaware of what was happening, just sat there floating down the lazy river while I pushed and pushed her tube for her to move. Eventually, my twin drug me up and she went under, after I had enough air, i helped her up before swimming out of there myself. I picked up my tube and was done for the next few years with plastic tubes.

When I was younger I didn’t know how to swim so I went to a place is like you learn how to swim at the end of the class I wanted to go on the deep side which was like 30m or 40m deep and I looked down I feel like I was going deeper and deeper after I looked up it was so blurry and I almost couldn’t see anything I was trying to float, but I almost gave up until I made it and I saved myself
Thanks for reading this story ☻

I saw a myth that stepping on a Lego block is as bad as drowning😅😅 Trust me as someone who almost drowned twice, the worst part about it is the mental pain, once you realize that your stuck underwater, every second feels like a minute, you get so so SO scared that your heart literally feels like it’s going to explode, you start panicking like crazy plus it’s very uncomfortable feeling your last bit of air gone than just a horrible pressure on your chest is insane. Trust me I would step on a Lego block any day if it meant I didn’t have to go through that again.

    I experienced this When I was 4,
So me and my cousin were racing to get the beach ball at a pool, it was at the adult section and I switched and lagged Over him, that caused us to barely even survive drowning, We couldn't call for help because we were drowning. And Luckily I was first one to reach the kiddy area, And I grabbed his hand to help.
Hope you read it! Thanks to all the people who prayed for me.
