He’s also directed some flops, like many. It may have been his misfortune to have his first two feature films be among the best ever made. He did good films after that too, To Live and Die in LA, Cruising, Sorcerer, but many so so films or flops too.
Wow, just found one more thing to love about this great, great filmmaker. I was obsessed over 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' in my 20's. I cannot remember how many times I read that masterpiece. ❤ from Iran.
Friedkin never met a fan he didn't respect, no matter the situation. He was a talented director, very intelligent, and an excellent communicator in his interviews. We lost a great talent.
I'd say he was mostly right about soap opera.........with one exception. Dallas. Dallas may not be realistic in any way whatsoever, but it's brilliantly wicked and it knows how great it is. It isn't a show that people watch to relate to whatever's happening. It's a show where the audience gets to vicariously live out their naughtiest fantasies through characters who should know better but who don't want to.
I can listen to this guy talk all day. 😆
He is a Great Director.

He's a very charismatic guy. I really like his personality and relaxed demeanor with everyone he meets. And you are a very good interviewer!
He is as you said.
Very sharp and to the point. Not many people like that, especially in Hollywood. Love watching his interviews.
RIP

What a great man and director. All the same, he sounds very like Trump. The NYC Queens accent explains it.
Bill.

Exactly, Don't watch the film, if you can't handle it. You have that right.
Not everyone should be allowed to talk to everyone.
And not every thought needs to be expressed all the time.
hunted is underrated. and to me BUG is number two to exorcist
To Live and Die in LA was great also.
Sorcerer and Killer Joe might be my favourites.
