UNA MOSS // Whistler Mountain Bike Park

  • Can you tell I've been in Whistler lately? Here's a full top to bottom run of Una Moss, which you can only do if you take the gondola, rather than the Garbanzo chair. I finish off the video with "Blueberry Bathtub", a trail I've never ridden or even heard of before...I just ran into it on my way down the mountain! To get to this trail, you have to take the road down past the top of the Creekside Gondola (check the WBP trail map for exact location).
    And yes, apparently I say "gondola" weird.

    Thank you for not barraging your viewers with what might have been your terrible taste in music choice while you rip down a gorgeous trail. So many biking videos feature some kind of auditory assault on the senses...some sound that has no earthly business in an old growth forest...that I can't get 10 seconds into it before hitting escape.
    Giving me the sound of the tires on terra any day. That's music to my ears... Well done.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing better than the sound of tires on dirt! Glad you enjoyed it.

    Awesome video's man, you deserve your channel growing fast. Your video's are good - the gyro/cam choice works well, the footage is smooth and steady. Love the mix of trail riding and reviews.
    2 things - there are certain times of day when the lighting is good for video footage, even in tree's, and this isn't one of them! Try to make video's around those times, it's really tricky to see anything when you go in the trees!
    Also, following someone quick down a trail really gives some perspective on the trail. I know it's what Nate Hills does, but it works really well.
    Your video of Coastal Gravity Park was one of the best edits I've seen from non-film-crew-pro's for ages. Great work, more of that and you'll be mega popular.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ben! Time/weather constraints have me riding in less-than-ideal conditions sometimes, but there's not much I can do about that most days. If only I had all day to get one video done! I'm guessing you're referring to the contrasty shadows in the treed sections in some of my other videos (this one is all overcast, so the light is pretty decent and flat), but ya, that just comes down to time limitations.
      I'm always looking for people to follow behind! Often I'm travelling to these spots by myself so I usually just meet people as I ride and hopefully get some follow cam images, but it doesn't always happen. Hopefully more in the future!
      Thanks again for the suggestions, they're always appreciated.
      Cheers!

    I get why they built Una Moss, but man imagine if all the $$ from the machine hours and labour had been put into some nice hand built single track trails instead...
    Blueberry just opened earlier in July this year. Good warm up if you are coming from Creekside and don't want to jump into black/double blacks off the bat.

    You should come up with some sort of rating system for the trails, dude. It's very subjective, but it's still nice. And one more thing, just a tought, you can rent bikes and give them reviews. Each video different bike. Think about that. Love your work, keep it up.

      Brad Hatton Probably mid July.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya that's a tough call. If you want to hit everything in the park including Top Of The World, go late July or early August. I find the trail team tends to buff everything up extra nice *just* before Crankworks, so hitting WBP then could be the best time of year...just not during or right after Crankworks...it gets a little choppy haha

    One question, why doesn't anyone ride DH bikes?

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heck yes! It was a chilly day :D
      Well, I don't ride a DH anymore simply because I can usually only take one bike with me when I go ride places, so it'll always be a bike that I can ride trails and park on without issue. Enduro bikes are so good and suspension tech is so advanced now that hitting big lines on an enduro bike is not that bike of a deal. Having said that, when I'm riding a ton of park, having a DH bike would be nice because it's definitely easier on the body!

    No issues with assembly for me th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
