Them civilians acted quite realistically when in a panic, driving madly, fleeing everywhere and even running down anyone in their way.
This movie in 2005 traumatized me as kid and still haunts me in my nightmares today 😭
Especially the first scene when the Tripod comes out of the ground, and disintegrates everyone. It seemed nightmarish, even the ashes felt organic.

Was so disepointed they did not have a Thunderchild sequence, imagen a Iowa battleship ram a fighting machine....
Even with the one additional victory over a Fighting Machine, this was basically how the big battle scene in the novel went.
"Bows and arrows against the lightning" and all.
Please do more tripod vs military vidéos, but this time with a proper full scale army! Would really appreciate it!

This is literally what happened when ray and the kids were in the basement when the plane crashed. The news lady said the national guard 83 mechanized unit was engaging a tripod out in the pine barren.

The tripods should totally invade the army men of war series
And mightymapper needs to bring back the pink army in a new series where the pink army gets jealous of only have a tiny bit of land and decide to invade every nation one by one and call it the pink crusade
No air support? No gunships, drones, or attack planes? You would think that the military objective would be covering the evacuation of civilians.
Once they had moved on (or been destroyed) the military's best option would be a fighting withdrawal. Why isn't anybody laying down smoke screens?
This was a National Guard unit and the lack of air power made it more realistic ,because it would show that the US military is so overwhelmed in other parts of the country they can't send help to every unit.
Here's a scenario! What if humans imvade Mars instead and it'll be the tripods' turn to defend themselves? I don't know if there's a Mars mod though. Lol

I know it's instinct and training will tell you to shoot the easily hit and larger part, the torso of the tripods.
but how could nobody ever come up with the idea to bomb where it stands?
it's unlikely the shield can cover up its feet when the feet have to stick to the ground to stabilize itself.
Because they aren't stupid they're highly intelligent creatures, bacteria blindness aside, and you can't get close enough to their feet without getting zapped
@ciaranmcguinness8900 Being smart alone doesn't prevent them from being target of airstrikes, especially with their colossal walker design. Bombs like bunker-buster can flip a concrete fortification upside down. There's no need to hit the tripod with this type of munition. It just need to land right next to a tripod, the blast will totally destroy the tripod's stability.
haw you actually killde one of the walkers? should concentrate fier on one of them probably only way to bring down shields
during an unwinnable battle with superior technological enemy i rather retreat and rethink some strategy!

Humanity doesn't win, nor the aliens.
Both sides lost valuable manpower and equipment on pointless war.
Humanity was devastated whilst the aliens had an entire invasion force thwarted.
But humanity lost the least, humans reproduce a fuck-ton so replacing the lost population would take a few decades or a century.
The aliens lost Tripods, had their tech captured were exposed to the dangers of Earth's microbial world.
Humanity would kill a 2nd Invasion force in less time if the aliens take a long time to get to Earth.
I'm overspeculating here but, you get the point.

Imagine retrofitting heat-ray weapons and force shields to Abrams tanks. Maybe even pulling the Iowa class battleships out of mothballs and fitting them with such weapons.

I wish Call to Arms had a mod to replace the graphics engine with UE5 so it looks like IRL because more and more I think movies will become extremely easy to make because these new game engines coming out its extremely hard to tell whats real and whats fake

Who the hell wants to watch a massacre? The U.S. military had the same issue in the 1953 adaption of War of the Worlds. Unlike the 2005 version, an H-Bomb was dropped on the Martian war machines and it didn't even scratch the paint!
