- Super excited to share I got my first Hemi car this week! We bought this 1968 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner at a local estate sale. And what a car! Factory 426 hemi build like a Road Runner should be. Only option (other than the Hemi) is a sure grip rear end. Manual steering, manual brakes, no radio, no decor package, just a base Road Runner like Ma Mopar intended. Features PP1 red paint with silver interior, just a knockout combo. We believe this was a drag car most of it's life and are trying to track down more history on it.
In this video we show how we found it, the preview, and us bringing her home. We also found a bunch of other A-Body parts including Duster, Demon, Swinger and Dart Sport parts we all brought home. Pumped about the car and hope you enjoy the video!
Great find! At 17 I talked my dad into cosigning to buy a 69 roadrunner, bone stock with 30k on it and of course I did what any 17 year old would do I beat the crap out of it.
@Rocketrestorations >Damn Tom ! - I saw this Roadrunner first on Jamies channel, but he didn't mention you were the new owner- holy shit this is sweet- any way you restore it... lucky you Tom ! 👍
Ya he scooped me on it ha
I thought this car looked familiar!!
I love 1968 Chargers, roadrunners, GTX, and cornet super bees , it’s like the beginning of the Big B body’s
68 was a great year for Mopars!
ANY original Hemi car is very cool, and the 68 RR is about the coolest of them all. The interesting thing about most of the Hemi cars is they usually didn't end up in the "wrong" hands, just because the Hemi was something special even when new and they were usually well kept, or at least not completely trashed like so many non-Hemi cars were.
I would just bring it back to a mostly original look with the original red paint, and put some dog dish hubcaps on it.
Nice car! Only 1,109 hemi 1968 Road Runners were built. Color seems to have like a maroonish tint to it. Hope you bring it back to its former glory.
I'm glad you got that car Tom. Amazing. I wish I knew what you paid. None of our business. I'm just glad you got it. So we can see it.
It was a really good deal.
God damn man, when I think of a muscle car this is exactly what pops into my head. Please get it slapped together, get that Hemi and enjoy it for a bit before people start bugging you that it needs some concourse restoration lol.
What a score! We are enjoying our restored '69 RR after many years of work done to it. And this is RR # 4 since 1972. Also enjoying our 13th 340 Duster. Subscribed, keep up the good work and document this adventure.
I just saw this and I am pleased for you. I hope to see it someday. That floor metal was gnarly.
The shop they took it too really butchered it.
its fixable friend! Snip snip tap tap fit fit buzz buzz.
Wow! That car is amazing! I would do the metal work and get it close to original and just drive it! Such low miles would make it really valuable if you got it to concourse level but at what cost? and then you wouldn’t want to drive it! Get her together and go have fun with her! 👍🏼😊
Already have most of it bolted back together.
You know when you hit the mid 50's. You go from it has to be all original. To what the hell, modified, resto mod. As long as it gets driven. I do realize some people pay extreme amounts of money, and think it's an investment. I still have my '57 D100 from the early 80's. Probably some what rare. V8, pushbutton 2 spd. Wrap around rear window. Some would say we butchered it. We did it on the cheap. 69 Fury parts car donated the front sub frame that slid over the original chassis. 8 3/4 diff. Wiring, 318 was replaced with a 340. The biggest hurdle was cutting out the majority of the fire wall. Due to the engine set back, compared to the original set up. I'm still some what of a purist, but I can't return my truck to stock, and respect what others do.
Sounds Awesome...
I've always liked the "I don't actually care" vibe I experienced with Mopar folks I met, when I asked about their Car's etc,
Before ever being blessed with Ownership,,
Also the Brand X distain from the Popular Kid's hahaha I grew up with Pontiac, which I still love...but working at Car shows, found only the Chevy guy, Talks crap on other Chevy's,, never understood that,, never heard that from a Mopar owner...
To anyone complaining about your Project etc.. it's done with Mopar parts.. cheers from Orange County California 🇺🇸..
I don't think you could find a nicer one. That thing is just a really solid car with a ton of solid parts
Congrats, looks great, the snow tires are a nice touch
Traction baby! Should take it out in the field and see how she will do.
Great score Tom. Can’t wait to see your posts on it. 👍
Just Awesome...
Stoked for you guys and like the rest of us, we'll be watching its rebirth..
Cheers from Orange County California 🇺🇸
Mopar or Nothing
Nice score. Too bad about the primer. Maybe it will buff off. That’s got a lot of potential. Proceed with caution. 🍻😎congrats.
Looking forward to watching you bring this back - sweet find!
Holy grail car for sure, a dream most of us will never realize. Congrats on the find!
- Ed on the Ridge
Only reason I could get it is because it was such a good deal.
G'day Tom,
Congratulations look forward to you putting this classic back on the road.
Great to know it is in good hands
Cheers

Great find Tom. Can’t wait to see you guys bring it back to life
Nice find!, there still out there,,,
Perfect score Tom, you did yourself proud. Have fun with it. Hopefully restoring it to stock condition.
Very nice find and it went to the right person. I can't wait to see more on this one on here or DDG.
Congratulations !! you scored with everything!
Restore it to stock
The red on silver is a sharp color combo.
Very

Nice find, hope you build it original.
Might run headers and build the motor a bit but think that’s the overall plan.
Im jealous that's going to be a sweet ride congratulations on getting this car
When these came out in 1968 my dad said they were basically a two door taxi cab with a big engine
Rubber floors no carpet no chrome vinyl seats plain door cards
Go fast on a budget
Once in a lifetime find and opportunity. I was so excited for you, and could tell you were having trouble keeping yourself contained. Is this your entry into next year's MCACN survivor class?
Would be cool in the barn finds class!
Wow!-great score(s)!!
Thanks!
Nice score!
Put it back together and keep the car forever
Damn It Boy... You scored a nice one.
Pretty happy
Great car! 18,00 miles 1/4 mile at a time. Looking forward to see what you do with it.
Kind of what we are thinking.
Wow! Awesome score! 😎
Thanks!
nice score a friend of mine had a black 68 with gold and cream seats one of 20 hemi cars to come to canada but unfortunately he past away don't know what happened to the car
Too bad you lost track of it what a car!
Nice find. I am excited for you. I'd like to see it returned to stock, not concourse but as a nice driver.
Think that’s the plan for now.
Nice buy Tom...any idea how long the previous owner had the car? originally a local car? Cheers
Believe it was local. Trying to track down history, think he had it a while. Have a few numbers to call to find out more.
Gidday brother hood I saw you on live chat with Jamie ddg thought I would check you out I think this road runner would be more desirable restoring it as original as possible given you can obtain the parts
Thanks for watching!
I got a set of hemi lovers for 68 roadrunner
Yay Hemi car. My first NEW car was a 2000 Dakota R/T. Add selling that to my many life's regrets. Found it a few years ago at a dealership in Auburn and was sorely tempted to make it mine. Didn't. Double regret. BTW I know a guy that can move containers. I drove his truck to your place last spring. Jamie has my number should you have need.
That is good to know, keep on finding them for sale but don’t know how much it costs to move them. Want to get two containers this summer to get all my sheet metal inside.
@@rocketresto Price depends largely upon how far and how much of a pain load/unload is (where it's coming out of and going into). Also the size of container and how many need to be moved. Time table/crunch would be a factor. But I would be overstepping to give an actual quote
I have the same rims in that colour on my 66 Charger, came from a Hemi car in trade for my 5 spoke road wheels
Very hard to find wheels.
Hey theres no black paint on that Roadrunner radiator support? & thats O.G.paint?? How
Sweet ride
1st put it back to survivor fit and spec finish it ..show it ...wonder if yu knockdown the primer what paint is on it!!
Did you get the motor with it?
It will be a great story to tell as you put it back together.
It’s in a storage unit so do not have it yet.

Appreciate it!
Cool
Radio delete and bare bones ordered was someone's race car. How you got all of the car in a auction is rare. Most auctions when they are apart get sold in lots. Then you have to out bid a bunch of clowns that are mad you got the car. Oh to be clear is the 70 roadrunner that I want. It's a bucket list car so it's a must have.
You will be my first call. Friend asked if it was the usual “most everything is gone” and got lucky with this one, most looks like it is there. Course helps it is a Road Runner, not much stuff to lose!
Roll it back to 1968.
Very nice. Put it back as close to original as possible. That's my opinion.
Think you are right.
Any '69 rally dashes with AC..?
Any dash frames? Think I do have one frame left. Send me an email - Tom at rock et rest o d or com

What did the RR go for
It was a really good deal.
Is this channel in any way related to dead dodge garage?
If so, I'll subscribe
Good friends with DDG and he works at Rocket. Many of the videos he does at our shop. So, yes!

LoL, parts just strewn around the yard rusting?? Like a Mopar garden jesus
I cleaned it all up, all went home with me.
RESTORE IT..
Restore the car to original. Finding a date coded Hemi isnt impossible.. so it deserves to be back to original.
Engine is in a storage unit, working on getting it
