    Having had the P8 since relatively early, I think what I love about the Volvo is that they electrified an already great looking car without trying to build a spaceship with blue led-lights, too much cheap plastic feel and all the other styling and user experience choices other manufacturers have made the past five years. It’s just a Volvo with a new propulsion system and some relevant features, nothing more nothing less.

    Love my 2023 C40 Twin. The one-pedal driving is very natural after a few hours of driving. I agree that it is very sorted and everything just works well together.

    I love the C40 but wish they would redo the infotainment to match EX models and P2. Really dislike the “classic” Volvo infotainment.

    Hello,
    I have and drive a C40 Twin Ultimate since March 2023 and so far, I put 20000 km on it. I love it, the ride is tremendous, the ergonomic is nicely done and yes, this incredible Volvo touch ☺
    But, there are some snags that should be addressed by Volvo for a future update :
    - Central rear view mirror: due to the rear slope, the central mirror is sometimes inefficient, especially on highways. Volvo should put a rear camera instead of a classic mirror
    - Central driver display: too few views options: you can only switch between maps or a blank screen... come on Volvo, you can do better
    - I'm sorry, but in 2023 and soon 2024, the central infotainment screen is too small and bulky
    Again, those are my personal issues with the C40, totally subjective 😊
    For the rest, this is by far the best car I have ever owned 🙌

    C40 - XC40 are my absolute favorite cars the last 2-3 years. I love the Matt black plastics, think its so elegant and discreet...., cant understand the design language of most car manufacturers that build their cars with so many glossy piano black parts. In my opinion 2 things made XC40 ICE platform successful as an EV. 1st the transmission tunnel that has staffed batteries and 2nd the 21+cm of ground clearance of the ICE model that gave space for batteries too(EV ground clearance 17cm)!!!

    To be honest... I do prefer the exteriour of the EX40... At this moment I enjoy the EX40, Twin Performance, Ultra, sage green. What a power, love also the fact that you can choose between 'normal' mode and 'performance' mode. With that rear wheel or four wheel. Not sure why I cannot switch off the lights where your feet are... What is the use of continously light there? Strange.

    I’m thinking that Volvo has improved since my late father had two 240s, one after the other!! And have certainly improved since I had a 340!!

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, people love to romanticize the 240s but Volvo has improved so much since that era. Actually, the 240 was a very outdated car in its era. The new Volvos, when they are reliable, are terrific. I hope the new E cars are EX90, EX30, etc.

    Agree that the exterior design is great. Will you do a top 10 hates as well.
    For me the center display and UI is much better done in Polestar 2 which caused me to buy one instead. Also surprisingly the P2 has better settings available in UI compared to C40. A deal breaker was also poor rear visibility

      Agreed. I come from a Polestar 2 and will be driving soon the C40 single motor; I looked for different other options (like Tesla amongst others) but came back to this one give that it has the same technology as the Polestar 2 (or vice versa :) ) which I very much loved

      @@s2000janNice, let us know your thoughts once you’ve tested the C40. Now that the single motor is RWD it should have better handling.
      I also moved on from P2 and got the Tesla M3. I think that the P2 was a better car but M3 shines on the efficiency. I am consuming ca. 40% less on the M3 compared to P2.

    Hello, I have recently taken delivery of a MY24 C40 Recharge Twin. Dealer told me to only charge it to 100% if I am going long distance, otherwise charge to 80%. Charging to 100% will kill the battery. What's ur take on this? On another video I saw that 100% wasnt actually 100% charged as volvo knew their customers would not obey rules.

    • @leluyaa
      @leluyaa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Charge to 90% on a daily basis, 100 if you are going on a lomger trip and drive away asap when it has reached 100%
      👍🏼

    • @Cedricchoy
      @Cedricchoy ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, do you start charging when it falls before 50%? Or should charge when it falls to around 30%?

    • @ronedwards8239
      @ronedwards8239 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Charge to 70% every night. If you are a local driver and say you only use 20% every day. Recharging everyday keeping the battery between 50% to 70% will have a massive impact on degradation of the battery pack. Studies show the battery pack can last 21 years.
      Do not go below 30% if possible. And do not charge above 80% only if you need to.

  • @Calamarth
    @Calamarth ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just don't know what the target audience is here. Twin motor long range with B&W sound system, 20" inch wheels and tow hitch comes to nearly 70k euros in Norway. That's a good 15k more than an equivalent Tesla Model Y. I just don't see how it's competitive in this day and age - certainly not as a mass-market vehicle. Or am I missing something?

    • @vernorropsjeune2658
      @vernorropsjeune2658 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well that's the point, you cannot compare this car to the Model Y.
      Have you ever driven a Model Y before ? (asking you this in a very friendly way by the way)
      If you drove both of this cars, you'd instantly get why the 15K difference.

    • @Calamarth
      @Calamarth ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, I've driven both cars. Is the C40 more premium? Yes, not debating that, but the difference isn't massive. If you're stretching your budget to only just be able to afford the C40, it's a crazy bad decision given that it loses to the Model Y on every objective metric of functionality. If the C40 is comfortably within your budget, there are several other cars that would be on your shortlist for "max premium for the buck" - including the e-tron or the iX, or even the EQC or EQE SUV or a Jaguar Ipace.

    • @seatroutonfilm
      @seatroutonfilm ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Calamarth To me and a lot of other buyers it's the opposite. C40 wins clearly over model Y. I have driven both several times and (and 9 other EVs) To us, C40 was a huge win. Model Y specifically offers tons of space. On the contrary it's more noisy, more uncivilized, more uncomfortable over bums and potholes. And the seat doesn't match Volvos...
      I have absolutely nothing against Tesla. Actually I thought it would be our new car, until I tried Volvo.
      And just a little side note.: Why do Tesla owners always think Teslas a the best on the market. It's all about preference and that feeling

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@seatroutonfilm I agree. Car comparisons are not about stats nor is car pricing. The Volvo C40 or XC40 feels like a much more solid, much more refined car than the Model Y. The Model Y nails the EV aspects and efficiency and the packaging is fine. It also is fun to drive in some ways. But Tesla has a ways to go in terms of body solidity, NVH and other mechanical and refinement areas than does Volvo/Polestar, BMW, and others. I would not even consider a Model Y due to its lack of refinement and consider it a lower rung car than the Volvo.

    Hate empty buttons just because they are there for a higher trim or in this case a different model even... Same with the silly covered key knob and the useless transmission tunnel at the back seats... The screen itself and the UI look very dated as well, this could've been a software update to make it look more like the EX30... But car manufacturers being there old fashioned self they'll never do this. This car has a lot going for it but by cutting corners you'll always be wondering what it could've been...

BMW IX, seats are also rubbish and have earned BMW a lot of complaints. No thigh support unless you are vertically challenged. What is wrong with these other car companies that they overlook one of the most important details of cars. Headroom and seats!
