  • RC4WD DXR2 Planetary Problem & Inside Look
    After many hours of pushing soil, I finally encountered a problem in the left side planetary. In the video I show the parts that make up the planetary gear set.

I was going to get the 360L but I know I'll upgrade one day so why not upgrade from the get go!! I gotta take a look at your channel and see what's new!!

      @@rcscalebuilders8268 good to hear from you I remember your telling me that your mom past away months back. Just reaching out to see if your alright. Ive never understood the crypto money making thing? I too was wanting the 970 yet it was a huge leap. I did find out about a guy who builds hand made custom excavators cant remember what country but they were some mighty beast. Every person who had one is amazed with quality,size and power. I want to say its a 390 1/18 scale or something? but it weighs in at 180lbs. the price tag is like $6,300 shipped I think. I read somewhere you do have to bank transfer the $. And banks always question that as far as risky if when I done that in past. I myself just been laying low this yr as well. many home projects and a few rc building projects in-between, not much good run vids. Well its a new year and wish the best for you family and safe as well. @@rcscalebuilders8268 so the gears are 32p 9t 3mm bore. So I bought some 32p 9t hardened pinions from the hobby store. Chucked them into my mill and knocked them down to 5.10mm thick. And bingo it's fixed. I still need to assemble it, but I'm positive it will work.

    Dang bud bummer the 4 pan head screwed washer definitely needs lock tight on the screws. If you noticed the back side of your hub plate was worn pretty good. If you didn’t do that it was because the 4 screws made contact w/ plate cover spinning around and creating metal shavings like a mo fo. On my inspection of the hub design there is a slew of incorrect designs w/ can and will restrict movement w/ means works harder to have the power. Metal to metal parts are never good on spinning objects. I had grinded the back plates so it will help from contacting screw face, sanded plate down so it will be less in thickness so then when pressing the hub cap on it will not press all like a jam sandwich. Then the out hub will press so hard against the outer rear oring from factory I had also took a few mm off the back of outer cylinder hub by sanding down as well. That allowed less restriction in movement of unit. Honestly the planetary gear design itself seems to be bullet proof it’s the entire Surrounding concept of the hub design that is disaster waiting to unfold. I’m definitely replacing the system once thomas is through with his testing of his concept

    • @thatsmyrc
      @thatsmyrc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s the 6 little screws on face plate when tightening down final step that will press all the mess together waiting to happen down the road. As you prob know you can’t tighten all the way because if you you can actually here the motor then under load while in motion without even tracks on. One other way I thought of helping matter is a thin gasket between the front plate and outer ring hub it bolts onto. That will allow space between metal washer 4 screws from pressing into faceplate of hub. So with pre removing some of the inner plate metal with dremel gave me a bit of space without metal shavings accumulating hopefully 🙏🏼 It’s a mess of designs but it does work, yet so needs to be addressed.

      @@thatsmyrc Hopefully enough material has been ground off!! I didn't notice that the 6 screws tight on the hub caused a compression. I never operated with the tracks off. But that's no bueno. Hopefully my machine ground enough material out on her own. That's probably why mine smoothed up after a while because she wore in.

    • @rcscalebuilders8268
      @rcscalebuilders8268  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thatsmyrc Honestly when you have it on demand and you have the sound system in you hardly even hear it. At first I thought it was going to be an issue . When she ran all the time it sucked but On Demand makes most of the noise go away since it's not constantly running. Also your pump channel only needs to be at 30% you can get it to spin faster up to 50% but that just makes excess noise.

Which is fine I still have to fix the leaks on the dozer Rear ripper has a leak from the get go. @@goranb3062 I see. You'll be stoked when you get your goods. Thomas has some really high quality parts. As far as RC4WD QC. There is none. These machines are drop shipped direct from the manufacture Eagle Machinery in China so RC4WD never even sees them. That said I still love the machines they have available. I just have to understand that its really only a good hobby for us folks that can fix them. On my next order of the 360L in a few days im going to be going direct to the manufacture (Eagle Machinery) since I learned from the Dozer that they just drop ship. I ordered from RC4WD cause they are in Visalia California which is just 4 hours away from me. Only to find out its drop shipped from overseas.
