@@MrBoyYankee yeah I was hoping for that myself 5/6 years ago or for him to return as Dutch for a predator movie but unfortunately I think the time for both might have passed sadly still he left plenty of greatness for us to enjoy

I love the slipcover this steelbook came with! I wish/hope Paramount does slipcovers like this every time they release a 4K only as a steelbook.

I love this movie, and I think HDR would be great with it. However, I only have 1 setup that can display that properly, and I don't use that TV often. I also need a non-HDR version that will look good on the secondary TV and on my PCs.
I'm disappointed the 4K box doesn't include an "SDR" BluRay for broader compatibility. Many 4K movies include both, but not this one apparently.
Buying both versions separately is too expensive. Despite wanting this in 4K, I'll probably just buy the BluRay only and call it good enough.
i got this in blu ray just a few months back. it honestly looks and sounds great. the cover is also cool! i may pick up 4k - i appreciate your review!

I have the blu-ray but don't think I'll double dip, however, I think the colors will pop more with the 4k. It's just not a film I watch a lot
I knew that this movie came out in 4K in Germany a while ago, so I am really glad that we are now getting a 4K release here in the U.S. as well

Was the audio cut on this? The scene where dynamo electrocuted that guy and amber is laying on the ground. They show dynamo walking towards her. His lips are moving, he's saying something but its cut

My favourite movie of all time
Audio for the running man has always been Mono or Dolby 5 .1 or DTS 7.1 at best. Although it's could've been better I'm content with this underrated gem of a Stephen King film finally on 4K.
I have the German 4k media book that includes the dts 7.1 surround sound i felt the German release with hdr was a better release then this new Parmount release
Yeah i did wonder how it would compare to to the German 4k mediabook also, as i purchased it myself sometime back. Not sure if paramount did there own groundwork for this release, or it was a port over from the other company's sources 🤔.
And they also included the original audio as well which is something I always welcome. 👍

I have not seen The Running Man since VHS so should be worth it...
I don't know if you got a bad copy, or it's something with your system, but the 5.1 DTS track on this movie was very good. One of the best and most immersive audio remasters of any of the 80's action movies I've heard on UHD.
It’s definitely not anything having to do with my setup, I just feel the audio is flat with no impact. As I stated, surrounds are pretty active and dialogue sounds ok, but anything with gunfire and explosions just is underwhelming. Glad you enjoyed it though.
@@MovieGuy365 I didn't mean to sound like is was dissing your system, but I had such a vastly different experience. I'm pretty familiar with weak audio tracks, and just didn't get that here. TBF, I had DTS Neural X engaged, so that may have had some effect, but it wouldn't have impacted the low end, which I also thought was pretty solid. In the end, we all experience things differently. Thanks for the reply!
No worries. Of course this all comes down to the original source, production, studio, etc. but if you compare the audio track of Running Man to The Predator released the same year, it’s not even close audio wise.
Just watched the Running Man. I also found the audio to be very dynamic & immersive!! No disrespect to Adam but I did not find the audio to be flat at all. I agree with him that the Lfe was lacking a bit. But I hardly missed it because of the dynamic surround mix.
I'd like to hear what you think about the Batman and Robin (1997) UHD audio track. It sounds absolutely terrible and makes the speakers sound like they are blown or damaged, on merely the vocal tracks. Some of the vocals actually clip! Sound effects also sound like they are getting pushed through the vocal channel, and are just flat. Don't know if it's because it's a streaming UHD version or if it's both on the UHD and the 4K disc.
Yeah I’m never going to have Batman and Robin on my shelf so can’t help with the audio thoughts.
Don't blame ya! B&R is in the so-bad-it's-good category for me which is the only reason I like rewatching it!

I hated the movie when it came out. Such a departure from the book. But it has grown on me over the years and now enjoy watching it.

Bummer downgraded audio from 7.1 DTS HD MASTER TO 5.1? Even the blu ray had a 7.1 DTS Hd Hi resolution. Keeping the German release on my Hard Drive.
Such BS that they upgrade video but lazy on audio. You go to 4k upgrade it all around

Haven't checked out the transfer yet... But this is the first SB I have bought in years and I remember why I hate them.
I nearly had to break the disc to get it to come out, these things are cheaply made, and no features and a blury image for a title screen? Very cheap presentation.
I had to throw the 4k disc in with my old blu ray.
Annoying.... I shouldn't have to fight to get the disc to come out.
Saw it in theatre, kinda weak. People love nostalgia. Not for me.
I haven't seen it. And do notice that it's one of those movies that I hear about ever now and then but no one talks about it haha...
So I'll admit that there's a small part of me that wants to buy just for nostalgia of the era, but I'll pass too

Why the hell do people like you like film grain? It's distracting and makes picture quality look awful. When watching something in 4K it should be crystal clear.
T🤐heres no extras on the 4k disc at all and a old 5.1 soundtrack paramount really sucks.
