Exodus is Prince's most underrated album ever and one of THE funkiest records I've ever heard. I stripped out the segues and swapped "Cherry Cherry" for "Days of Wild" and can play that thing all the way through.
@Christopher Tracy nah Emancipation is too bloated and lyrically thin. Not enough ideas on that album to hold it together. A couple great songs amongst many abysmal and forgettable tracks
@@robertbeckerbecker1354 Agree. But also think it's kinda cool that EVERYONE has their own "ONE DISC" version of the three disc set and every single one is different. I wouldn't call it LYRICALLY thin since disc 2 in particular has some of the most heart felt lyrics Prince has ever written but would concur that the album itself is a bit thin along with some astonishingly mediocre production. A mile wide and an inch deep to an extent. But there's some GREAT stuff on there and I was elated to get SO MUCH music all at once like that. It was like a buffet that allowed me to pick and choose what I liked to eat. I always preferred MORE music, even if I didn't care for all of it.
@@herboffour8594I wholeheartedly agree! But check this out. A “lyrically thin” Prince record is a masterpiece album for anyone else! But I have to agree, he had so much on Emancipation. The cover of “One Of Us” was nice but didn’t seem to fit. Then there was the swing number “Courtin Time.” A cute song but again why a swing song? At least he didn’t come out with his next album in a year.
@@Octoberthbeyond Most of those women, if they're not light-skinned, they have long hair. Like Chilli. Her skin is dark, but look at her hair texture and length. I think the high school sweetheart you're speaking of was Ms. Kim Upsher, who passed away, I think in 2013. She was Black and Beautiful with medium length hair. I just don't think he would've married her or anyone who looked like her.
The most sense I've ever read about Prince online. He loved dark-skinned black women but the record labels and society wouldn't except that from him. If you look at his female friends from the early days to the end they were black. I use the term friend loosely here... It sadness me that people think he didn't love the black woman Obviously not listening to his lyrics. Piece and B wild
ONE OF FAVORITE SONGS. Prince was sexy, sensual , charming , funny, talented , stylish, creative, artistic , otherworldly , bad-ass, out spoken , maverick, uninhibited, ethereal , spiritual, an enigma, humanitarian , unique and a SOUL BROTHER. He will always be in my heart💜. No one will ever compare to you PRINCE💜
Prince’s voice is just so beautiful. That falsetto is beautiful and effortless, especially at the very end of 1:52 and carried through to 1:53. I’m feeling the guitar at 2:20 just like he is. Man I miss my friend. 😢💜💜
Back then sometimes I didn't understand, Why Prince will come up on the show with a silk on his face or wear a mask.....! Today all fall in place! His music is an art and He is the artist. With His Name or Without, Symbol or Sign..! He was ahead of us and out of time ! And that will never change even after He is gone.
Apart from the legal issues over his name, he was trying to get away from himself, make it less about him, put NPG up front, open things up. It never entirely worked though.
Tora Tora is my Hero, he gave me a reason 2 wear a veil around my face. It's just like buckethead that glued a white palid mask and made him look different but unique. I was listening 2 madhouse 24 album with Eric Leeds, Michael B., Sonny T., Tommy Barbarella and of course Tora Tora and he plays guitar on the 24 album as 2 him playing the double bass on the Exodus album. Glad I have both of them. I don't care what people say about his mask! 2 me its not about the look, it's about the message. And the NPG is still in full effect! Peace and B Wild!
Here's a church, here's a steeple Here's a muthafucka that I gotta blow away Here's my chance to cure the ills of the people But not until I make this muthafucka pay And oh, baby, I count the daysYeah, yes, I count the days Here's th interview, here's the time If I keep your secrets, will you keep mine? If we hurry, we can catch the train If it was left up to you, I would die in pain (That's why) I count the days Oh, yeah Whoa, I'm counting (Oh) Hear me (Hear me) (Days, days) Days, counting the daysGreat day in the morning My choir sing a pretty song Every day I'm with your ass is another day wasted I swear is a day to longCounting Like Frankie Beverly without Maze I'm counting Muthafucka, I count the daysCan I count on? (Hey) Count on (Counting) Count on (Hey, yeah) I count the days (Days)Count the days, count the days Count the days, count the days
That´s what I loved most about Prince. "Count The Days" is anyway a great track but the live Version makes it´s 100000x greater than the Studio-Version with the Addition of Michael B´s drumming.
Damn! The NPG is probably our fav band! The precision, depth, soul, gospel and funk mixed with a dash of Pop! Love this song so much and this era is unmatched. Ok NPG is our fav band 😂💜 #Prince4Ever #NPG
I used to have a notebook where I would write down the lyrics to Prince songs. My ex- girlfriend and I at the time were in the last stages of our relationship. She was rambling through my things and found my notebook. She happen to open the notebook to this song and swore I wrote it about breaking up with her. I had to pull out the CD and play the song to prove to her it was a Prince song. LOL! I still laugh about it years later. Truth be told, I really was counting down the days, until I move out. LOL!
I love this song. Prince had his own way of making a protest song which was uncomfortably truthful. This to me sits along side of songs like Mercy, mercy, me by Marvin Gaye.
CORNEL WEST said I love my brother PRINCE but he ain't no Curtis Mayfield "Count the Days" as well as "Born2die"!🤔 REALITY CHECK no HE'S PRINCE ROGERS NELSON🙏🏽 😇
Even a mask couldnt hide how beautiful that man was. OMG!!!!! Too fine
Omg boo you're eveerrry where 😂😂😂😂
Prince had the Midas Touch. Every tune he touched was gold
Period. The end! 💜 O(+>💜
You mean platinum don't you? 🤔
Exodus is Prince's most underrated album ever and one of THE funkiest records I've ever heard. I stripped out the segues and swapped "Cherry Cherry" for "Days of Wild" and can play that thing all the way through.
The Rainbow Children (or Emancipation) is Prince's most underrated album - but Exodus is up there
@Christopher Tracy nah Emancipation is too bloated and lyrically thin. Not enough ideas on that album to hold it together. A couple great songs amongst many abysmal and forgettable tracks

Certainly his best post-1980s album.
Prince didn't care if you are black or white...his brilliant music brought us together ....
Cool Co
Datz y they r glad he iz gone.
SMH
Cool Co he cared when it came to women. I don't think he liked us black women.
sic the nigga was colorstruck. plain and simple.

ooooooweeeeee!!!!! yesssssss! yes he was!! talk! that talk! R.I.P. my darling Prince Rogers Nelson😞💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Sonny’s Vocals are just awesome.
Yes, but only together with Prince 's voice. Prince' s vocal harmonies are superb
Love this man.Laying here crying because NO MAN has ever sung my feelings like this GENIOUS man
This was one hell of a jam but this version is sublime. NPG was out of this world. The bass player's voice was made for songs like these
Who is funkier...? ain't nobody funkier than Prince. He is IT.
He could hide his face...but he could NEVER hide his talent. Just....LAWDHAMERCY. 💎

An officially brilliant musician.
Can do ..and sing no wrong n my 👀!!. God i miss this man!! Real Prince fans know what I'm saying!

Had to do with him not wanting Warner Brothers to know he was releasing extra music.
Yes, they had an injunction against him so he couldnt perform. So he just put a mask on.
Apart from the legal issues over his name, he was trying to get away from himself, make it less about him, put NPG up front, open things up. It never entirely worked though.
Exodus is an extraordinary, amusing, and excellent album. One of my favorites now 💜
Always ahead of the time. Pre covid mode.
RARE..... TOO COLD!!!!!! Still missin U, PRINCE. 😞😞. Music aint been the same since U went away
Only Prince would sing with a Silk mask over his face! Man, he was a Trip!
Come on, Blowfly was doing it for years.
He did that because he didn't want Warner Brothers to know he was putting out more music than what they contractually allowed him to😉.
@dynjarren7523 😂😂
A true masterpiece...
We 😢😢😢😢 miss those days and songs 😢😢😢
From Minneapolis singing hopeful words with a mask half black and half white up ... he was always years ahead
Here"e one awesome song by His Royal Badness you will probably never hear on the Radio! HIP PRINCE
This song is so incredible. Sly and family stone vibe with gospel feel
Incredible one of my personal favorites
.... Everyday I'm with yo tale is anotha day wasted... I swear it's a day too long...... GEEEEZE cold but true💜

Beautifully done.......Prince's hidden gem....

I remember this and his slave days leading to emancipation this is one of his jazzest lushist songs 👌 ✨
... 💜And one of the most threatening, he didn't like slavery and he whispered to everyone stay free! Those who understood it thanked him
He had a mask over his face but see thru so you could still make out his features.
Prince had his own thing going on original eclectic .....Genius
Artist from planet Genius. A class of its own.
I can hear Prince saying to Mayte: "Now, eye don't want U 2 sing. U just sit there and look pretty. Cool?"
NOOOO!😂😂😂😂 She had her nice little 4 count with the tambourine no one could hear fr! You ain't had 2 do her like this!😂😂😂👏🔥🖒
lol!!
prince your voice touches me all over
Magic. .💜
Oh, my beautiful, beautiful man. 💜
The one and only Prince!
Damn! The NPG is probably our fav band! The precision, depth, soul, gospel and funk mixed with a dash of Pop! Love this song so much and this era is unmatched. Ok NPG is our fav band 😂💜 #Prince4Ever #NPG

Song so good, thanks to network axs for playing this. Catalog so big, great songs on the album that didn't sell that well.
Master Prince

RIP PRINCE AND FRANKIE BEVERLY
Prince the man behind the mask ..it's sad that we gotta wear mask now smh
*sings* like frankie beverly without maaaaaaaaaaze.
Sad that he had to Die for these videos to get to us.
@screenocean - This was in 1995
Genius.
Where’s da explicit version?
CORNEL WEST said I love my brother PRINCE but he ain't no Curtis Mayfield "Count the Days" as well as "Born2die"!🤔 REALITY CHECK no HE'S PRINCE ROGERS NELSON🙏🏽 😇
Ahhh... it would be better if the original 4:3 image weren't stretched to make it 16:9 widescreen.
Who are the 4 people who didn't like this ?
ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn Sting did write several songs in tribute to Prince on his latest album. I think Simon Cowell is the 4th!! LOL!!
Muthafuckas
LOL!
I don’t like it.. dull
Some people have taste buds located in their butt holes!🤨 (Like the 1's that don't like this song.)
Anybody knows what that happy guitar melody is from what song? I know its one of princes songs. Just cant remember which one
Does anyone know where to find the original recording of this? Can’t find it on Spotify, Apple Music, or even TH-cam.
It’s on TH-cam now! I just found it myself. 8/3/2024
Like Frankie Beverly without Maze!
I prefer this version to Aaron Neville’s. Sly puts it over the top!
starts 0:16
Look at P wearing a face mask before it was cool
