    I'd like to see SLC put in a classroom and teach sewing machines, tooling, etc. You have world class talent there and it would be a natural for you guys to do this. In looking around it's big bucks too..... Also, discount the sewing class if a student has purchased a machine from you....lol

    I use a small dremel in a dremel drill press with small drill bit. Works great and pretty fast

    I love watching these videos. The passing of knowledge. Wish i had a place close to me to get some training but for now books, dvd's and youtube will do.

      Used to use thin metal or went to the newspaper office and got the aluminum sheets off their printing device to line the holsters

    Very appreciated video. I sppreciate it. The more information you can provide the more orders will flow in. This was one that will result in me ordering leather no doubt.

    We plan to have a question and answer for the last part of this series. So if you have any questions about this holster series let us know and we hope to cover all of them.

    I personally don't like to burn my Thread it looks un professional I just like to cut the thread off inside the needle holes that way it's never seen and the lock stich will never let it come lose.

    Denny if you are lining this holster do you place the welt in after you install the liner, correct? I’m making a holster for my husband 44 mag. I also wanted to ask if you have a video on making the belt rig for this holster like the I seen in the first video? Thank you

    • @SpringfieldLeather
      @SpringfieldLeather  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you would place the welt in after you install the liner. We do not have that video, might be something we can revisit soon! Thank you! :)

    I bought a cheap ole $10.00 belt sander at a sale to do sanding with. I just mount it in a vise & go to work. A cheap alternative to what you have available here.

    Its ironic that the only leather store in Springfield. Oregon, is a Tandy. 😆

    Excellent instruction! But how did you layout the initial cut, ie; one piece of leather for holster and belt loop?

    Sir ! i'll say plain & simple . no way about it. I would want to have it all oiled down proper.. One thing am not used to.. is the rough finish. Where can I get one & how much for a ( L/H ). Great presentation.. L8tr. !

    Do you guys sell that round knife with the heart shaped hole in the blade? Your link only shows a plain one.

    I'm starting leather crafting soon i don't have a sewing machine that can handle leather so I'm gonna do hand stitching i have a dremel I'm thinking about using for sanding what's a good gride to use

    Which needle are you using for hand stitching

  • @cluek9780
    @cluek9780 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I cannot imagine why a single, merely “locked”-together machine suture is preferable to 2-line carriage stitch that takes mere moments longer and is twice as strong. Unraveling risks my product and reputation more than any machine affords speed- rather identically to a QuikStitch awl.

    Thanks for the great videos! Not related to this project really, but I remember a video series where Denny made a leather guitar case, but I can't seem to find it anywhere? Am I just hallucinating? Lol

    ...because we all have a $2,600 Cobra cylinder arm sewing machine. (I did see one in a store recently and would LOVE to have one!)

    • @SpringfieldLeather

      It is possible to hand stitch this as well. The first part of this was Denny saying that if he did hand stitch this it would be using and awl.

    Good video but why is it inside out...did I miss something? And not to correct you but isn't that glycerin not saddle soap?

    • @pfitz671
      @pfitz671 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its called glycerine saddle soap by Fiebings.

    • @SpringfieldLeather
      @SpringfieldLeather  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not inside out, it is called Rough Out (rough side of leather showing). Just the artist choice that Denny made for this series. This also allows not having to line the inside of the holster.
