I am now just over 4 weeks post BHR and very nearly normal in function. I am 82 and confident of a good long term result subject only to caution to protect my femoral neck during the first 6 months. I was also advised to have operation early as although i was only very slightly compromised the xray showed severe joint destruction. The point was made thatby operating early i was better placed to make an earler and better recovery and the sooner it was, done the longer i would benefit. Sound advice and i am pleased I took it. I had intended to wait a bit longer until the H1 device received its CE approval but i dont regret going ahead with the proven BHR. Its still early days forceramic resurfacing and i am concious that earler developmental implants were not always,as successful as hoped.
I was very lucky to have your esteemed colleague Ronan Treacy perform both of my BHR's I was very young at the time 27 for the first and 32 for the second. I am back to FULL activity there is nothing I cant do, but I do try to take care of them and change the way I do some things. These devices gave me my life back. Thank you Derrick and Ronan
Thank You Dr.McMinn your work on re-surfacing is outstanding to say the lease. I really wish I could have you as my surgeon to do this operation on my hip.
I had drop foot after my operation if I didn't get that I would have a normal life, the recovery from nerve pain is pretty unpleasant..... But the hip is more or less in full working order..
We are sorry to hear you have been having problems, if you are a patient of ours then please get in touch with the McMinn Centre - www.mcminncentre.co.uk
