    RE: appliances -- IKEA has existing appliances "resizable" option so you can customize - I had to use this as Ikea default appliances are common sizes. We have a very small kitchen so knew we were leaning toward smaller appliances. We're two adults in our forever home with no kids so we opted to downsize our appliances from 30-36 inch range to a 24 inch range and the dishwasher is 18 inch instead of 24. We used the resizeable option for existing appliances so we could plan around them.

      Hey Robin! Thanks for the comment. After I published this, it was pointed out to me about the resizable appliances. I pinned a comment about it and I appreciate when viewers help me out. I want to be as accurate as I can.

    IKEA’s appliances are usually made by Whirpool and some others. It might even differ from each continent. I thought it was Electrolux who produced the ones they sell here in Norway, but I’m not sure. When it arrives in the package you can see who made it, but they won’t inform you beforehand.

    Hello Mark if I install a single 15" wall mount sektion cabinet would I use a short rail or fasten it directly to the wall ? Also if the door is white do I still need to purchase face covering for the sides ? Love your channel ! thanks

    • @MTKDofficial
      @MTKDofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David! thanks so much for watching. For the 15", I would still use the short rail for mounting. They make hanging the cabinet easier. However, I come from a background of screwing cabinets directly to the stud without the rail. So, I'm not opposed to that method.
      I have mixed feelings with buying side panels for white cabinets. If you want them to match perfectly, then "yes". However, even with a matching side, they don't always look the same because of shadows and angles. I would say on a cabinet that is facing out to another room, then add the sides, but maybe not necessary for two wall cabinets on either side of a vent hood.

    HI! I have an extremely outdated kitchen weird cabinets (seem like particle board covered with shelf paper - that is peeling) - how do I find the right "expert" to measure and give me design ideas? I'm certain if I leave the footprint the same, it will be a significant saving, but the fact that i have about 2ft of counter space, a weirdly small wall oven, and an avocado green stove top.... I might want to change some things. I have no idea where to even start, and I can't set a budget without some ideas - any help is greatly appreciated!

    • @MTKDofficial
      @MTKDofficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kristen. You can check around your local kitchen suppliers. Many will do a home measure and design as part of their service. You may find that to be a good solution.
      You could hire an interior designer to come in and draw some ideas for you. This could be a higher price point, but a good option.
      Thirdly, if you are comfortable with measuring the space, you can use my online design solution.
      I'd start with the first option, especially if you know the cabinet brand you want and they offer that service.

      Sometimes the planner is finicky like that. you're not doing anything wrong. The only thing to try is to add a side panel to the corner cabinet. Do this by selecting the cabinet and then modify. It will be in that menu. This may cause the error to go away. However, you shouldn't need a panel when you actual install the cabinet. I usually ignore all the errors and warnings anyway. lol

      Stack 30" and 20". This will put you at 104". The remaining 4" would be filler molding to the ceiling. For tall cabinets, use 80" high, which finish at 84" leaving room for a 20" above. That would be the best way to go about it.

    Do you know if Ikea will send people out to actually measure your home?

      It depends on the store. Most Ikea stores offer a full installation package. This includes having your space measured before order placement. So as the consumer you don't need to worry about having accurate measurements. It typically runs around $99 per cabinet to have them installed. But I'm sure there may be other factors too.
      If you are installing yourself however, then all measurements will be your responsibility.
