  • We completely demoed our old kitchen, built all our new IKEA cabinetry and installed the entire new kitchen ourselves. In this video I talk about the price for each of the components that makes up the kitchen and give you a grand total at the end for the entire remodel. I also talk about where I got the best deals on everything I purchased. Check out our IKEA kitchen remodel cost video.

    Hello and thanks for watching our new video "How much did my IKEA kitchen cost"? I break down all the costs associated with this full kitchen remodel and I tell you how I got some of my deals. Check out out video and stick around to the end to get the final tally of what I spend. Leave a comment below if you have an IKEA kitchen and if you installed it yourself to save money or if you paid someone else to do it.

    Great video. I live in a townhouse and have an IKEA kitchen too. Mine is much smaller than yours. I paid about $5000 for the materials from the store and about $5000 to install it. My new appliances ran me about $3000. I’ve had it for 6 years and couldn’t be happier with it !

      why not just go by ikea and take your measurements. they make your whole kitchen plan including the prices for free. it has no use to know how much it costs because you guys probably don't have the same layout, nor will you chose the same cabinet doors, handles etc. there is a huge difference in prices between, drawers and just plain door cabinets. soft close is more expensive then normal. etc etc

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Jessicaro Hi Jessica. I get hundreds of request a month from people asking me what I paid for the cabinets and the counters. Hundreds. Not only do the ask for pricing, but they want to know what draw fronts I used and what handles I used. I actually put some of these comments right in the video to show you that these were actual questions. Thats why this video exists. Because hundreds of people every month still want to know this information.

      @@PlantBasedDads it wasn't directed at you. you did a good job with the video i enjoyed it. But people need to be realistic. the price you paid will never be the same price they will pay those are just facts. it wasn't against you i enjoyed your video's i did an ikea kitchen to. and i enjoyed knowing what you paid for it. but it will never give a realistic picture to someone else that is all i am saying. layouts are not the same, handles, drawers, doors etc that is just fact.

    Nicely done! I installed a very similar style and size Ikea kitchen 26 years ago. My total cost in the early 1990’s was only about $4,700, It was so affordable because I did not install a tile backsplash, and my countertops are Formica from Home Depot. (Also, I did not purchase new appliances.) I applaud your choice of backsplash and beautiful quartz countertops, those are two things I will do next time I remodel. One thing I’ve noticed at Ikea is a great selection of designer sinks, faucets, and cabinet pulls, at lower prices than elsewhere. My Ikea kitchen is still holding up well, a few of the cabinet fronts have started to show wear through the finish on corners, and I’m trying to decide if I should repaint the fronts, or just replace them with a fresh set from Ikea. The Ikea kitchens have always impressed me, love the style choices, and the organization and pull out features are better than much more expensive cabinets that I’ve compared. I got more than a quarter century use out of mine, and the newer Ikea kitchens are even nicer and better built. It’s inspiring to see such a nice DIY kitchen!

    Thanks for the itemization, helping me a lot for my upcoming kitchen remodel. My only suggestion for anyone with a microwave, is to get one with the ceramic interior over the white plastic. SO MUCH EASIER to clean, I have kids that refuse to cover the food. Mine is a Samsung over the range with the vent built in. Love it and only $300, compared to 250 for the plastic interior one that you have to scrub and soak for an hour to clean.

      Hi Nicole. I did a floating laminate floor over the existing tile downstairs, and then I pulled up all the carpeting upstairs and put the flooring down over the subfloor. Thanks so much for watching.

    Wow you definitely saved a lot of money by going to IKEA for those cabinets I can’t believe they only cost $6000 and some change and your white quartz island that is huge with two slabs only 2000 some dollars you really know how to put together a kitchen that looks super expensive on a lien budget. I have to give you congratulations on that I don’t think I would’ve tackled that large job myself

    Hey Joey! I watched this video and another one you did about Ikea cabinets. I think that the cabinets from Ikea have greatly improved over the past few years. I used to get their sales circulars, and their cabinets looked more like they would suit a small apartment. Yours look great! Thank you for breaking the prices down! It's funny because I've gone to a couple of cabinet stores, Lowes, and Home Depot and asked for a price range for cabinets for our size of kitchen. They wanted me to sit down so they could have a long spiel with me. I thought, oh, they are that expensive? LOL At first, I wanted 100% wood kitchen cabinets, but I am so darned sick of my 1980s ugly kitchen, I want to give these a try. Yours look wonderful. My husband is mechanically inclined so maybe, with the help of our large strong nephew, he can do it himself. Was the price of the cabinets including the delivery?

      Hi Jeff. The floating shelves came from Home Depot. I believe they were 19.99 each. The came in a wood color and I painted them white. As far as the window seal, I am not sure what you are asking about with that. Let me know what you mean on that part. Thanks. See the link below for the shelves.

      Jeff, the countertop people had some scraps left so they cut a piece for the window sill ledge. So that is actually a piece of Quartz from the counter top. That was part of the price for the counters.

      Plant Based Dads definitely. We are debating whether we should buy a newer home in the Avondale area or to just build. It seems like for the price a build might be better, but then we think about things like this where we can buy a reasonably priced home and just do upgrades ourselves as time goes on.

    Not a vegan here. It looks like our kitchen is a little smaller than yours, but we did our Ikea kitchen/dining starting in 2014 for $21, 500 (then spent about $2700 on cabinets and furniture for the dining room). We hired a plumber to do the gas line to the stovetop, an electrician to upgrade the old kitchen wiring, a tiler setter for the two full walls of glass subway tile (my $3,200 splurge) and a flooring installer too install the LVT. It's been complete for 5+ years and we love it. My architect husband said the hardware is the same thing he usually specifies and it's holding up fantastically well. One out-of-the-box way we saved $ was to carefully remove the cabinets and old appliances (which were all working, but were from the 70s or 80s) and then advertised them in the "free" section on Craigslist. Someone picked them all up for reuse. Not only did it save the items from the land-fill, but it also saved us $$ from either hiring someone to take them to the dump, or renting a vehicle and paying the dump fee. We're just finishing up a bathroom reno and used the same techniques to get rid of quite a bit of the demo'd items from the bathroom.

      Hello, thanks so much for the comment. We have a lot in common. I actually have a 6 week time-lapse video that shows my entire remodel. In that video you can see that I am taking down the old cabinets one at a time and very carefully because I put them on Craigslist too for free and a family came and got them. They could not afford a new kitchen and they were very excited to get my cabinets. I gave them the appliances, counters, all of it. The guy had a truck and was like "Anytime you need anything moved, call me and you can use my truck". The nicest people. I was sooooo thankful I didn't destroy the cabinets. This is my 4th IKEA kitchen and I love them too. Check out the video, it's probably a lot similar to what you all did.

    Thanks for the video! How did you get the microwave to fit in Ikea's pre-made cabinet? Size-wise so it matched? Same thing with the handles from Amazon. How did you get them to match up with the holes on the Ikea cabinet doors? Or did you drill everything custom?

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank. There are no holes in IKEA drawers and doors. You have to drill them all yourself. The handles came with a template for drilling. It was pretty simple with that template. I got a microwave that fit into a 24inch cabinet. So it came with a faceplate that mounts into any 24inch cabinet.
