Love your reaction as always.❤ And yeah, I could definitely see an equivalent Between Heaven and Green Grass and High Tides forever. Just the phrase I mean. And the things that it makes you think of. But I'm glad it's so totally keyed in on the energy of it and this was probably their biggest hit, but it is still so iconic. Everything about it just clicks in all the best ways.

Fay Nice Reaction Outlaws founding member Henry Paul says this song is not about marijuana, but about rock and roll illuminaries, and the title, he says, was taken from the 1966 "Best Of" collection by the Rolling Stones called High Tides and Green Grass. Says Paul, "From what I gather, there was an album out, the best of the Rolling Stones, called 'High Tides and Green Grass.' That was the name of the Rolling Stones' greatest hits - this is like 1966 - and I think it was a manifestation of that title turned in reverse, 'Green Grass and High Tides.' I know that much. And I know that it was a song written for rock and roll illuminaries, from Janis Joplin to Jimi Hendrix, and it had nothing to do with marijuana. But it had to do with, I think, a specific person's lyrical look at rock and roll legends. 'As kings and queens bow and play for you.' It's about Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. 'Castles of stone, soul and glory.' A lot of it is just sort of a collage of words that really don't have all that much to do with anything, they just fit and sounded right. But I have to say it's one of my favorite lyrics. My songwriting is more Steinbeck, really rooted in accuracy and reality; this is definitely Alice In Wonderland. It's the whole 'White Rabbit.' It's sort of like one of those magic lyrical moments that will forever be mysteriously unclearly conceived." (Check out our interview with Henry Paul. For more, go to www.blackhawkmusic.us.) EXCELLENT FRIGGIN TUNE

They were at the Pink Pop festival in the Netherlands in the 70's.
    I couldn't be there, don't remember why.
A little later dutch tv did the festival, and ,girl,I was so sorry I missed the live performance.
    They were awesom!!
The guitars, the singing, the whole thing.
Thank you verry much for this one.
    Loved it.
Keep on rockin, sweet Faye 😁💪❤️👍

Wow Fay!!! I just listened to this song today at work on one of my Spotify playlists. I have about 110 playlists and only one of them have this song….and it’s a 12 hour playlist! So what synchronicity ❤🔥☄️🌊🌬️ I first heard the Outlaws a long time ago on a jukebox. It was their version of Ghost riders in the Sky. Another classic from very long ago! Cheers Fay, your video made my day. I’m going to go read the lyrics now and listen one more time, cheers sweet Lady 🍷

Sweet! The first rock concert my parents ever let me go to when I was a young teenager was The Outlaws opening for Black Sabbath on their Heaven and Hell tour in 1981 or thereabouts. My buddies and I found seats right up front center stage. Imaging that twin guitar jam extravaganza from this song tearing up the fretboards ten feet in front of you. Fire! The Outlaws kept the rock in country rock. Funny though, how nobody ever yells out "Green Grass & High Tides" at a band the way they yell out "Freebird"... I suppose that might be a good thing though. Hehehe.

Loved your reaction ❤️..! Henry Paul and Hugh Thomasson ( who is the Singer aswell, RIP) are two of the greatest guitarplayers that I’ve ever heard…! I’m from Sweden but I love Southern Rock like Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Lynard Skynard, Doc Holliday, The Georgia Satelittes, Blackberry Smoke and The dead South..! ❤️❤️❤️
