instead of hitting the wife by accident with a controller you are now just straight up punching her lights out. Its getting really hard to explain all her bruises to the Dr as it is, how the fuck am I meant to explain ones that are fist shaped?
The only think I have against this is that when you “grab” something in the game, such as Pavlov when you grab a gun. You don’t get any feel feed back. All you feel is flesh. This is personally why I think something such as gloves is gonna be a lot better
I doubt it will take that long. In the last 30-40 years we went from harddrives as big as rooms with a few kb and games with a handful of pixels to tiny SD cards with hundreds of GB and games+VR that look like almost photo realistic.
I feel like hand tracking would be good for games themed about being a wizzard or star wars force user or something, some situation in which you would not expect to really be touching anything in the first place

The Quest is now one of the most advanced VR headsets ever. Also, the "landmark" function is being used already, the Quest recognizes different locations and loads the guardian boundaries you've saved automatically.
Yeah, people arent really talking about just how advanced it is at the moment. It's COMPLETELY standalone and needs no cords at all, it has 2 types of boundaries and automatically loads them (like you said), the Oculus Link cable is gonna let you play SteamVR games, and now the hand-tracking. Albeit the hand tracking now doesnt seem to good, but if Oculus can get to this point, they just might be able to reach haptic gloves soon.
87 Days the reason being is as of right now its using a snapdragon which is a phone processor this is amazing for VR but will it player crysis 3 on max settings if u catch my drift
@@Aryann3 Yeah I get it. Running a modified version of Generic Android 7.1 isn't quite ideal for more demanding games, but I would still personally say that it's worth it in order for it to be wireless because it can still play the popular games like Pistol Whip, Beat Saber, etc.

The hand tracking should be combined with a small bracelet that helps detect the general location of your hands. That way, if movement is too fast for the camera to capture precise hand posture, it will still be able to get the hand location right so it is at least on the screen.

Wouldn’t be a bad idea to first track your pointer finger than use that to let the camera know where your knuckles and wrist joints are. Idk if that is a better way or more complicated but I’d still like to see how this works
When you talked about the immersion breaking feeling when the headset lost track of your virtual hands, that is a limitation and drawback of the inside-out tracking with the new Quest and Rift S. You would need sensors similar to the Rift CV1 to track your hands better in a given area. It is cool though that hand tracking is now capable on a completely wireless VR headset like the Quest.
I debated on getting a quest or Rift S, I ended up getting the Rift S. Seeing all these new things for the quest has made me really sad and kind of regret my decision. Should I be like this or is there still things to be had with the Rift S?

I remember a while ago I thought to myself, "the Quest has cameras so why can't it just track the hands?" Apparently Oculus thought the same thing... I don't really know what this could add to vr becides gestures though...
"why can't it just" - It is not like they just toggle a switch and it magically works. Tracking the controllers using the ring on top of it is nothing like tracking hands. It required a lot of hard work by the developers.

Leap motion replicates haptic feedback via sound. The solution works quite well and you quickly accept it a touch. I'm surprised the Oculus didn't adopt their solution.
It must be hard to register different states of your hands in games. Like normally if you grab, you press a button, and then an animation happens. With hand tracking you don't just have two states, but loads of states
Does the Quest maintain its 1600 x 1440 resolution in pcvr mode or is it adjusted in software to match rift s, since people say it turns quest into a rift s wouldn't that be more in line with htc cosmos. and how noticeable difference is the resolution between rift s and quest if so
Just thought I should let you guys know that you can play any side loaded non vr games using hands tracking. I play Geometry Dash and Fruit Ninja and it's not bad. It will mostly work well with games that require you to use one finger to tap or swipe

Yeah but in some games you can move with the joysticks but now you dont have joysticks now so how do you move

I think the quest is the better option, since you can cable link it to your pc which makes it a slightly better rift S.
