I had a PsyD diagnose me with bipolar disorder type 2 with hypomania. That was years ago, now I haven't been manic in years, just depressed everyday, getting fat and out of shape as I feel my demise is near and I'm only mid-40s. I have a psychiatrist but he sucks and can't find another, where I live so many crazy people that psychiatrists can't keep up with the work load. Doesn't surprise me that we have a mass shooting twice a month, what surprises me is that we don't have one everyday 😆.

You mentioned phycomotor agotation..its worth noting that it seems common to manifest into whats been termed bipolar anger..its a real pain to deal with.. like your ozeing with toxicness and can not rationalize.. but simultaneously aware of it and helpless until it passes. My experience anyway. Best regards

I only had a manic episode immediately after my psychiatrist switched my antidepressant to the MAOI Nardil. When he changed my diagnosis from recurrent MDD to Bipolar 1 at that point, he claimed that even though I didn’t have any manic episodes before the Nardil, it still meant that I'd already had bipolar disorder but the mania side of it had just been latent. 🤷‍♀️

I have conversations with homeless people in shopping center parking lots. I know it’s bad when they are trying to get out of the conversation with me. 😂

Excellent video...just about the best I have seen for describing Bi Polar in an easy and interesting way. Some are too technical and some drone on till I get so irritated I turn it off....for me you are just right! 🤗

    Hi
    New subbie.
Can you please provide a vid for family and friends of people with BPD that will provide some tools, tips and suggestions for how to support and deal with their family members with this condition? Sometimes I really do feel like we need to protect ourselves from some of our BPD family members.
I have two or three family members with severe conditions of BPD and I noticed a lot of similar behavior, and I’m talking about things they do while on medication!
    - manipulation
    - Lying a lot
    - Doing things to hurt others that are trying to support them
    - Selfishness
    - Obsessive, compulsive behavior
    To name a few.

I living with a bipolar person and she was given paxil 40mg and xanax, and she had a traumatic event in her life of losing a job she had for 23 years, it started in January 2022 and a notice a big change of her pushing me away, she abruptly stopped paxil, and it all got really bad
,she finally got back on it and I noticed about the 5th week she would I guess be in a manic state from the paxil, I assume, and she just went to the doctor Monday, and was prescribed lamotrigine 25mg, but we are separated at the moment, would the doctor wing her off of paxil and xanax, or not, I'm hoping he did the right thing, When she stops ghosting me, and speaks again I hope, what would you recommend, she seems to be in a state where she functions normally and is always a busy body and very little sleep, and spending money and has these wild unrealistic ideas,
But seems to function normally when needed to
    Thanks Jimmy

    Isn't DBT effective for bipolar?

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, it can be. However, DBT is used mostly for borderline personality disorder, but can be used with anyone who has issues with emotional regulation.
