Awesome build and great video. A couple of suggestions though, for an improved design try putting only two or less bearings per axis, depending upon the load. For example you'll need two bearings letting it swing side to side on the handle, ONLY two TOTAL bearings on the sides of the center gimbal letting it swing forward and back, and only ONE bearing holding the shaft in place as any "loads" in the other axes are already handled by the other bearing sets which make this axis the one with the least amount of load in extraneous directions. Having two bearings per axis will hold the device steady, while allowing less friction than 4 bearings. With four bearings instead of two you have twice the friction due to more bearings creating that friction, but you also have even more friction on top of that because four bearings have a greater chance of binding even just slightly against each other. Even if it's not enough to stop it from turning, you still have more force to overcome with what should be a free floating design, so the minimum number of bearings per axis is the best. Another thing I'd suggest is that while it looks like you're using skate bearings, I would suggest something a bit smaller, the smaller the bearing the less resistance as it has a lower relative amount of leverage on the motion of each ball bearing and each ball bearing is also smaller and therefore easier to accelerate or start turning. I'm personally using a set of 1/4" id x 1/2" od bearings for the first two axes and a slightly larger than skate sized bearing for the vertical axis but it's a very thin bearing with tiny ball bearings, the od is about the same size as a skate bearing but the id is much larger than a skate bearing, which also helps lower the resistance and allows it to rotate more smoothly. I'm not sure if you did this or not, but cleaning your bearings out and replacing the grease with a thin, high speed lubricating oil will also work wonders for the smoothness of your design, just be very careful not to allow ANY dirt inside of the bearing. if you're using shielded bearings you should just be able to soak it in acetone or alcohol then dry very thoroughly before soaking in a very light oil. If you're using shielded bearings on the other hand you'll have to remove the seals first. This is possible with a bit of practice but I'll let you learn how to do this part your self. There's tons of videos out there on the subject, especially from people making fidget spinners and the like.
Man you put a lot of thought in to this build. The end result is damn good too. From now on when I watch your videos I will be looking forward to the steady cam shots.

Hey, super Teil! Bin gerade auf deinen Kanal gestoßen und finde deine Videos klasse. Evtl noch als Idee: irgendwie die Lager etwas dämpfen, so dass zwar abrupte Bewegungen ausgeglichen werden aber sich das ganze nicht so pendelartig aufschwingen kann.
Sorry, ich weiß die eigentliche Arbeit und dann noch der Schnitt sind viel Arbeit und Zeit, ... doch 2 unterschiedliche uploads von dir hätten mir auch gefallen. Wie schon geschrieben, super Arbeit, funktionell und sieht richtig gut aus.
You don't want anything pulling on the device, that would defeat the purpose of having it "free floating" to eliminate shake. It takes a lot of practice to get it to work well and I think he did a really good job.
