Tomo, Guitar wisdom student here. I have been playing for 40 years and trying to discipline myself to keep improving and learn more theory. I have returned to watch many of your older videos. You are more than a teacher - you are a sage motivational speaker. You have nourished my thinking about progress, success and utility of improving at this point. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for subscribing my Guitar Wisdom. Thanks so much for your kind words. I love playing and teaching guitar very much. I have learned so much about life through guitar playing. Guitar playing can make your life richer INSIDE! You're very welcome!
Very important about "Great quality of life" My goal is not about number one or top class... I want to be a little above the middle! You're very welcome! Thank you!
I much prefer Tomo’s playing to JM’s. My personal preference. I listen to Tomo’s albums. Meyer’s an amazing player but not my cup of tea. Too much pop influence in his playing?
Guitar wisdom is a great success not everyone can go to Berklee, I have always wanted to go deeper into music theory and now I'm on my way to a good foundation. You obviously retain and share knowledge at a level very few people can. If success is a hit song you still have plenty of time to do that. Steve vai and Joe satrani are making arguably their best music now along with other legends fill in the blank. Anyways thanks for you lessons and whatever success means to you I hope you achieve it. 😀
Thanks for sharing! So happy to hear that you are really enjoying at Guitar Wisdom. Yes! Good job! Music Theory, Foundation! You got it! I am really into song writing right now. You're very welcome!
You say more valuable things with your “Broken English” than most native speakers ! Plus - the quality of your love for family - underlies your passion for excellence ! Many blessings to you brother Tomo !🤲
Thanks so much! I never felt enough confidence on my speaking English... but hey, why not? So simply I don't really care any small mistakes on my English skill. Better to say than say nothing. Nothing will be nothing. Something will be something. You made my day!
I believe that you have won our hearts, just as much as you have won our minds, and without heart, music would be nothing but noise! So there, Mr Tomo, ❤, put that in your pipe😻
Tomo, you are one of many players that have inspired me to continue playing guitar over the years. Learning to play guitar has given me a connection to music that helps me feel better on the worst of days. This incredible gift is in part a result of your teachings. The number of people you have positively impacted with your teachings leads me to believe that you have not only succeeded as a musician, but as a person. Thank you for sharing your love and knowledge of music the world.
@TomoFujitaMusic I am a music therapist - I love reading about how people discover the mental health benefits of active participation and learning in music........
Failing is a part of life, it happens to all of us. Music is never a competition with anyone else, but a way to unite. There's always room for growth! Thank you for this Tomo!
So many people don't understand that for teachers, the act of helping someone else accomplish.a goal on guitar gives us a natural high that is similar to what performers feel in front of a good crowd. Calling that "failure" is such a bizarre thing to me. If someone truly loves teaching, and they get a natural high from it, it's the best job in the world in my (very biased) opinion.
You are a fantastic player & who can really teach! Helping people is a great thing to do. Thanks so much for your understanding this art. "Teaching" So happy to hear from you. Thank you so much!
Hi Tomo, not sure if you will ever read this. I took private lessons from you way back when you were at Berklee. I learned so much from you. I actually got pretty decent with your teaching. I joined a band, and played out regularly in the Boston area for several years. The band never got very popular and we disbanded. In retrospect, our sound/style just did not stand out even though I thought we were decently talented. I hope you realize that your influence as a great music teacher has a ripple effect that you may never see. Your students benefit, and your student's audiences benefit from your guitar wisdom and inspiration. I still benefit from what I learned from you as I continue to play my guitar often to an audience of just myself or some friends. Never underestimate the impact you have in the music world. You are a success in my view.
Thank you for sharing! Thanks so much for taking my private lessons. So happy to hear that my teaching really helpful. I am so grateful and fortunate. Thank you!!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Tomo, I know you have a Strat or Guitar Setup Video. I am watching a Video right now "Jeff Beck Guitar Set Up". I floated the Trem on my Squire Strat. And then Lowered the Action for better Play Action.... but I lost some of the Warm tone, the higher Action gave the Guitar more Power. Is there a Sweet spot... You don't have to answer, I am sure you are very busy. I will check your Videos on that too!
Dear Tomo, I think not becoming a famous artist is not failing. You became an educator at a famous music college and you created one of the most comprehensive and dynamic guitar courses online. People are literally being inspired by you every single day across the globe. I think your impact on music as a whole is much bigger than what most people can ever achieve as commercially successful artists. You did the opposite of failing if you ask me. Lots of love for you from this guy here!
Brother Tomo…do you realize the lives and friends you have touched through music. Music should never be a competition but a journey. Your light and spirit is Beautiful❣️❣️❣️
Thank you so much! Once John Mayer said... "You have changed so many people's lives!" So happy to hear that. I am so fortunate. Love this endless journey!
You already made big impact in music scene, you didn't failed. Your story inspired me to do more with my life after a very bad retrenchment. Since I've learn triad from your video, my guitar playing improved tremendously that my friends noticed my playing has evolved from the last time they saw me playing and I'm still learning more and more. Thank you, Sensei Tomo. We all benefiting from your videos here.
Not only you didn’t fail as a musicien but you also did not fail as a human being… and that is very special. Your share both of these mastery In a kind, fun and very meaningful way. I am touch by the human you are. I and also others i am sure, are deeply grateful 🙏
I wish I had a music teacher like you when I was younger Tomo. My college music teachers were horrible humans and were only there for their own egos. Now that I've switched from trumpet to guitar you are my youtube teacher. You are an amazing teacher. Famous to students the world over
I love your stories. I have been playing guitar for 44 years now. But I was never a full time professional. I opted to become a software engineer instead. It paid more than music, but it wasn't my passion. You didn't fail. You are an amazing teacher and an incredible guitar player. And I love it when you get distracted and sidetracked from teaching on your videos. It's funny and human.
Thank you for telling your story. This was fantastic! I’m so glad it came up in my feed this morning when I had the time on my hands to watch it all the way through. As you shared your age, I did the math and realized we’re close to the same age (I was born in ‘65). I’ve always loved music, but didn’t pick up guitar until about 5 years ago. I now subscribe to Guitar Wisdom and start every morning (I get up an hour be for anyone else in the house) and work through the notebook I started due to your encouragement in your videos. I’m focusing on your site reading course and foundations triads as well as doing finger exercises daily. I appreciate you more than I can express without gushing. Fun fact: my dad was stationed at the US Navy base in Yokosuka when I was a kid so I went to elementary school for a few years in Japan. We lived off base near the beach and I was the only English speaking kid in our neighborhood. Anyway, now I live about an hour and a half away from you in New Hampshire in the Lakes Region. I want to get down to Boston at some point and see you play. Do you hold any clinics? How could I get information about them if you do? Respectfully yours, BryonM.
You're very welcome! Thank you for sharing! So happy to hear that you and guitar! Guitar Wisdom is a great place to learn & share guitar playing! I use my little note book! Cool experience in Japan! Funny part is I don't really play locally. Here! My website tomojustfunky.com
Express yourself Tomo. That is your gift to the world. Whether it’s on your guitar or with words, your heart and mind comes through loud and clear and we are better for it.
Mr.Fujita, I want to say HUGE thank you, because your story really helped me to feel a little better. You're great musician and a teacher in my opinion, I watched so much of your videos. My story is simple: I've started a little late, at 26 and the first instrument was drum kit, after that I focused on piano and played a lot of really magnificient classical pieces (I am still in love with classical music), but at age of 28 I found my real passion - guitar. It have SO MUCH in it. I was so obsessed with music so I left my job, and was studing whole days, that was awesome time :) Ofcourse there was a lot of difficulties, like I always lack on money and walked to my friend's place to eat (I had a little part-time jobs, but nothing serious). I had no girlfriend but I didn't wanted any relationships. All I ever wanted is to continue studing music, write songs and compose music, getting better in every ways and dont ever be in need of money for ordinary things (for simple living) I love to see people dancing, or feeling something, its some sort of magic, when you standing there and doing your job and people are feeling great, they're dancing or thinking and smiling, its the highest reward in my opinion. But it never happend, reality is tough thing :) From time to time I got some part-time job to survive, pay the bills and well, things are not changing at all. So I am at same place now but knowing a little more in music (but still so much left to learn). From time to time all this makes me feel really bad, overwhelming, like I have to deal with it somehow, find a job and forget about things that brings me joy and makes me feel happy, just because I really tired living like this. I've tried to combine job and music and I simply can't, because all my thoughts are filled with music, so in that case I'm bad worker, so the real way for me is forget about music for a while and make enough money to continue, but I'm so anxious about that, I mean what will happend when I stop? But after your story I think that its life, everything happend. I should do whatever it takes to survive. If music is my path, then I'll return, if not - then its not :) I never ever told that to anyone, thats my personal drama, but when I decided to write about it...somehow I feel better:) Double thank you mr. Fujita, I hope my path is not yet finished and I will continue this magical adventure :) I wish you all the best! You're LEGENDARY!
You're very welcome. So happy to hear that. Thanks for sharing. In order to be able to study music, creating original music, we all need some $$$ for living. There are many types of jobs. You want to be creative for working for a living too! That way you can create music a little better 9?) Nothing is easy but you can make something better within when you have to work. It's very hard to balance in these but it's possible. I wish your best outcome!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Thank you for your reply, mr.Fujita! Of course as every musician I would be happy to have a job closer to music, something creative, but you're correct! I should try to find a balance somehow
@@Dr3wGuitarGuy You're welcome! Even when you're working (for music & for a living) You want to enjoy it & you enjoy with people around you! All great positive feeling so this will feed off to your music & your life much better. Something a little closer to music. That's not bad idea at all.
@@TomoFujitaMusic I don’t have enough words to describe how grateful I am for your wisdom and kind words! Huge thank you for being here, on this planet, with this channel in this “timeline” :)
Of course you didn’t fail. I can’t help but remember you posted a photo one time showing your fingers after a long day of practicing your rhythm playing. And you captioned “I want to be the best rhythm guitar player!” And I was thinking bro… you ARE the best rhythm guitar player!! It was So inspiring to see someone at your level still just having the same mindset that any of us guitar players have which is to get better! Very inspiring. Much love and respect!
Funny part is I still feel my time feel is not great enough. That's why no question...I practice chromatic scale & R 3 7 rhythm guitar groove everyday! I just want to be great at one thing. "Rhythm Guitar" Thank you so much!
Great lesson:: When one door closes, aNew Door Opens. Great wisdom! And Wow. Pure..Steve Gadd, Bernard Perdie, Steve Jordan, Will Lee - All-Star lineup! Must've been in Heaven!
No you did not fail. I have my funk face on! We love you Tomo! What you’ve given the world of guitar is unmatched and you’ve had a huge impact on music.
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, AND EXCELLENT ... YOU'RE LIFE EXPERIENCE AND WHAT YOU SPEAK IS SO INSPIRATIONAL ... NOT ONLY DO YOU TEACH STUDENTS, AND PLAY GREAT GUITAR ! YOU KNOW WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU (IN MUSIC & LIFE) AND YOU INSPIRE MUSICIANS, ALL LEVELS, TO KEEP MOVING FORWARD ... WHAT DOES NOT COME TODAY ... WILL COME ONE DAY! GREAT MESSAGE TOMO! ARIGATO!
I quit guitar after college and only recently picked it up. I didn't realize how lost I was because I wanted to play everything. I took ONE private lesson from Tomo and it just set me out on a path of learning that is very fulfilling. More than the guitar lessons, Tomo's lessons apply to my life as well. So thank you Tomo for setting me on the PATH. I am saving up for another private so I can show you where I am now :D Thank you sensei!
Hello i started guitare 2 years ago with a great teacher live. And since few weeks i discovered YOU. thank 's so much to youtube !! Lucky me it is gold
‘Life’ is what happens whilst we are busy making plans. You may not have planned to be a guitar professor Tomo but I for one am very grateful that’s the path life you walked ! You have fostered and inspired so many great musicians and I can only imagine how much great music exists in the world today because of you ! You should be incredibly proud mate P.s really enjoying these longer philosophy / discussion like videos . You really need your own pod cast and bring on some other guest
Hey Tomo...love these conversations :) I laughed in appreciation when at the end you said, "I think I failed because I did'n't keep this message to 10 min...what do you think?" Ha!! There is a thought provoking statement, of which the origin is debated, that conveys the struggle we all face. The story goes - when one was asked how they prepared to speak on a topic in public, the replay was... “It depends. If I am to speak ten minutes, I need a week for preparation; if fifteen minutes, three days; if half an hour, two days; if an hour, I am ready now.” I think I too failed with too many words :) Keep shining!!
You are the most influential guitar player to me. I would’ve quit guitar if I hadn’t discovered you sensei. Your wisdom just made guitar playing for me a lot easier and It all started to make sense. I listen to your albums and I think they’re genuinely great. Don’t worry, don’t compare and be kind to yourself. You taught me music isn’t a competition. Just have fun. You’re one of the best musicians i know Thank you so much ❤
I have so mush respect for Tomo, he always smiles and shares positivity and inspires people. And being a musician is not easy, so much distraction and hard time in life, but Tomo still keeps doing what he loves and pursuits his dream. He still enjoys music and teaches his life experience and guitar techniques. A good mentor like Tomo really brings hope to people who think about giving up music or doubt themselves in life to keep exploring music.
Thank you Tomo, not just for this video, but all the videos on yt and IG. Talk about going on, like when someone is feeling uninspired or anything like that
Being a Japanese American from Yokohama and leaving my former 40-year career in JKF-Gojuryu Karate and change to a music teaching career, I relate to your words of wisdom on a personal level. I often feel I failed in being successful Sensei, but now see music as a second chance to excel in a different adventure, and not to compare my past with my future. Always a fan. The Guitar Carpenter.
never learned from u at berklee but your youtube videos help me so much as a young guitarist im 16 and have been playing about 7 months your channel has taught me more theory and given the best advice then anyone else has, keep teaching tomo your helping future virtuosos more than u may realize, much love tomo :)
You can balance both! Its not easy at all but its all possible! Social medias, internet, you can make something happen while you are sleeping! Thank you!
You’re one of my hero’s tomo you inspire me to play and without your chord videos I would of never gotten as good as I am today When you read these comments remind yourself on the mark you’ve left on all of us We love you 🙏🏾
Tomo, you ***succeeded*** both as a musician and as a teacher. (24:25) I own your music CDs (bought from you directly last year. Thank you!), now I'm interested in getting your guitar books (even though I don't read Japanese). (28:47) I almost didn't recognize you without a guitar 🎸in your hands. 🤣
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Thanks for purchasing my cds! If you do, please get my solo guitar etude book with CD. (If you are in USA, I have a few..) That's awesome! That's my goal!
Hi Tomo! When I watch your youtube or instagram, you always look so happy. I think you are not a fail musician. You know, music always give people emotional energy. Your music also give me happy energy. I hope your happy energy being going to continue!
Hello Tomo, I have been practicing and loving the guitar. At first had doubts about the content that I am producing as a passionate person focusing on art. Your video reminded that indeed, if theres love in what you do, you already "winning at life". Thanks for sharing, may rock for ever more my friend
Nope, definitely did not fail. Watching a master play is always inspirational for those of us who aspire to grow. I don’t think I’ll ever reach your level, but that’s okay, I enjoy playing and listening. Thanks for the music
Thank you so much! You can do it! I didn’t have anything at the beginning! No rhythm, no pitch, no harmony! I trained myself as good as someone who has been working very hard! Imagination is free! Why not?
I`m a very very simple acoustic guitar player. People offered to pay me to teach kids but I felt like a fake so I refused. I`m just a singer who plays guitar when I perform. But I did let kids who showed promise use my guitar and if they could learn the songs I showed them I would help them get their own guitar. Some are doing very well and are far more talented on guitar than I am. So I consider that a huge success. You are a very big influence on many people so you are certainly a success in many many ways.
I don’t have the money to attend berklee so I decided to go to my local college as well as take some online advanced jazz theory courses, people like you, tomo, and Jen’s Larsen give everyone a chance to gain freedom on their instrument and that is not a failure by any means
Thanks for sharing. If I didn't get my Scholarship, I had 0 chance to came here. There are other choices. That's why I made my Guitar Wisdom so that anyone can learn from anywhere. $15 a month subscription video guitar lessons.
I’ve learned more from Tomo in one year then all the other 20+ years I’ve played guitar! Incredible! I also attend music therapy here in Norway. Last week I was in studio with the music therapy band and i suggested we played Take the A train! And we did! I play rhythm and solo guitar. So much fun. And the music therapy teacher was very impressed. I couldn’t have done that without Tomo’s incredible skills as a teacher and musician. I am forever thankful. Thank you Tomo! p.s I would love to acquire a copy of your live in Japan album haha 😅
Thanks for sharing. Music is medicine & heal our souls. Great therapy! Guitar lessons are therapy just using guitar! Good job! Try next time "ALL OF ME" "SUMMER TIME" Thank you! Live in Japan album is not for sale. That was only limited CDs.
Hi Tomo, I was a student of yours at Berklee back in '94, I didn't know that was only your 2nd year teaching there! Anyway your class was my fovorite and blew me and my buddies' minds!! You had so much good info and always put us at ease telling us 'Don't worry'. That was important to me because Berklee was intense. And your english was never a problem at all, your excitement about music and the sense of fun you gave your students came through loud and clear. I still remember you class and am honored that I got that time learning from you.
Wow! Thanks so much! I was very green back then! But I had same passion on teaching! So happy to hear that! I am so honored that I had you as my student! Thank you!
Tomo,Thank you for all the wisdom you share, you are an amazing artist, guitarist, musician, teacher,I started playing gigs with my guitar at age 13, I am now 60.... Still love the guitar like I did when I was 13.... I still approach the guitar as a student, and you are a blessing to me and thousands of others,I realize how much I DO NOT KNOW when I watch your videos, Thanks again Tomo 🎸.
Tomo-san, what an amazing story about your journey as a musician - it is clear from what you have recounted that you have worked very hard to get to where you are now, with many amazing opportunites and experiences along the way. Thank you for sharing this and by doing so, providing your great inspiration and wisdom for others to learn from and to grow as musicians. I don't know if you realise just how important and great this is - thank you so much! 🙏
Jesus Tomo, your musics wether its your own album or session plus all the lesson contents and actually being teacher in berklee you are huge inspirations world wide. Hope you always have a pride on everything you have achieved and done❤
Everything is perspective. Personally sir you taught me a great deal through your written materials/ dvds and it is on account of you that I have fallen in love with the Stratocaster. It is rare to find someone who has such a talent for teaching but who at the same time can go out and gig as they please. I cannot emphasize how clear and concise your method of teaching is. Please accept my wholehearted thanks for all that you do. To sum it up you have helped me find joy in music as your playing is infectious. Thank you.
I think you said it all at 12:15… play with your heroes and just make music. I never knew about the SNL audition. But then it went straight from that to your music teaching books taking off and establishing more connections around Berklee. So in my opinion, things worked out for the best and you should be proud. Teaching and sharing your wisdom. I’m 26 and just started playing guitar in 2020 during the pandemic and have learned so much from you. Would love to hear your full story someday. Thank you for these videos
Thanks for watching that much! This video went 30 minutes. I just needed to say all my important experiences & turning point of my life (Someone can out some time code for me?) The SNL Audition was pretty big event in my life as a Japanese guy. To become well known guitar player, needed to play a lot of gigs. But I thought making instructional dvd, books with Berklee experience .. faster to establish. Thank you so much! I have more stories! This series "Tomo Talk" will continue every Fridays! Good idea?
@@TomoFujitaMusic Your family must be proud and you should be proud. Even to get an audition is an amazing opportunity to be proud of. And absolutely “tomo talk” sounds great!!
@@brianjenkins4077 My family think me as Mr.Bean! I am always very funny! Reggae band audition story is funny too. I learned not to rush from that band. Thank you!
Glad I just found this video. Lots of wisdom you have Tomo. Insightful. You inspire everyday in your videos and listening to your beautiful guitar playing Life’s a journey. Thanks for sharing!
Many players had aspirations, you said like becomming a studio musician, perfomer, teacher, producer. Don't doubt your abilities. What few people mention is that sociëty changes and certain jobs simply don't excist anymore, for instance studio musician, most everything is done by computers ( except jazz, and some singer songwriter stuff). You can look back on great carreer, respect man.
I'm 18 years old and was feeling down because I had too many things to do before graduating from high school, and I felt like I was slowly going away from music. After hearing your story, I felt better, and motivated me to continue my life as a musician! Thank you for sharing these awesome videos. I am sure that your videos are motivating and inspiring all the people like me!
Thanks for sharing!! Don't worry! That's a little part of your life. You can catch up npc time later. You're welcome! I am glad to hear that my story is helpful.
...one of my favorite things that you post, and would like to see more of, is when you play covers with your students ~ that motivates/inspires ME @ age sixty seven - some day soon I hope to devote my attention to Guitar Wisdom
This is my 2nd try making "Tomo Talk" video. I talk like this... telling my experiences & my thought etc. Once I have theme... I can talk about that no problem. Guitar Wisdom is my passion! There are a lot of lesson videos, demo videos, many series there! Thank you!
Tomo i'm not sure you realize, but you are a huge influence to so many guitarists and music lovers around the world. Just a quick search will show you that all the years of selfless exchanges with fans and people through mail , lessons, and ultimately youtube videos have been so fruitful in inspiring guitarists and musicians around the world. Your funk style is masterful and your musicianship is revered by fans and your peers. There's no world or interpretation in which to me you have failed.
I see my comment yesterday touched you a bit more than I thought ... and again your 100% on point !!!!! “If your happy , you’ve already won the race ... “ DL 🤠🎸🎶✌️
Tomo! I am new to your youtube channel, and not only have you have made my playing 100% better, you have instated a strong positive mindset into my musical journey already! Judge the content of your character in order to measure success! You are always so positive and I thank you for that so much! You are the greatest!
My life has been crazy lately. So many stressful changes and it's overwhelming but, I can't change my circumstances even though I'm trying as hard as humanly possible. So not it's the weekend and after a week of disappointments dealing with things that are only guitar related because they concern my quality of life. So I hadn't even checked my notifications on TH-cam. I was looking at those alerts that show up on your phone when you get an email, a text, TH-cam notifications and I've been so busy I finally hung up the phone (very important call - still waiting for a call back) and decided this. There's nothing I can do right now that's productive I'm going to begin to relax. It's the weekend and I've been "All work and no Play" for too many days so let me see what's going on with all of these notifications. The first one I saw was "The heartbreaking news about Ozzy Osbourne" and I thought "What happened? Maybe an accident or diagnosed with a disease or something!" So it took me to a TH-cam video that wasn't news at all. Just everything he's been through in his life.. things we already know. Things that have been in the news, fans of Rock music and non fans alike no he's had problems with his health, substance abuse, The tragic death of his amazing guitar player Randy Rhoads, etc.. nothing new . Clickbait right. So then the TH-cam auto play says "Tomo Fujita - Did I fail as a guitar player" and the option to cancel or play. So of course I have to hear what you're talking about because I immediately said "What is this? Of course Tomo didn't fail ! Let me see what this video is going to be about. Is Tomo talking about how we can ask ourselves"Did we Fail" or is he talking about himself? So it's like the "Are you Happy " video that I enjoyed watching but I was unhappy with my life in general at the time and couldn't comment. Too depressed which is unusual mostly for me to be so down but, I'm having so many unusual problems in life so it happens. Not able to get enough sleep and too much bad news and changes occuring. So for this video I relaxed for the first time in ages and just listening to you talk Tomo was very relaxing. I forgot about everything else and just listened to you're video. I'm so appreciative of your doing these couple of videos where you are just talking and, right at the end I was going to mention how you didn't have a guitar or play even one note...and then you said it 😂 It's like listening to a brief history of your life as a guitar player and educator, as a human being. So interesting! You've lead such a fascinating life and your fans and subscribers already know some of it but, many things I'm hearing for the first time. Saturday Night Live audition that you didn't get because you were 32 (such an old man 🤣). The part where you didn't mention the name but, the famous guitar player who said that you couldn't play if you're a teacher. There's an expression: "Those who can do, those who can't teach" so maybe that's why he said such a thing as that. Maybe you've heard that expression before but, the reason he (or she?) said it could be that? Anyway, the 30 minutes went by too fast. I felt like it was maybe 15 but, I checked. "Time flies when you're having fun" is another expression and honestly it was my first time relaxing in a long time. Like spending time with a friend who's always encouraging, I feel better emotionally and physically. I'm not kidding. I was dealing with back pain and feeling some frustration and now my back feels better (I'd taken Tylenol and it wasn't helping) and I was upset because someone promised me my problems in life were going to be resolved and I was relieved. That was yesterday and then something went wrong so I was discouraged and a little angry the way it was handled. I'm leaving out details but, you've got such a good attitude about things not being meant to be sometimes and it's no reason to give up. Maybe something different or better is what's meant to happen. Like the car battery dies . If there's nothing you can do. If it's beyond your control then that's life. Things we don't like happen that we can't control. We can take action to some extent. Ask a stranger if they have jumper cables . Call a friend or call your insurance like triple A, but you can't control things that you don't like are going to happen. So my life is crazy. I'm already trying to find someone with jumper cables and, pursuing getting a new battery. Nothing I can do right now because I've tried everything and it's the weekend so my situation has to wait until Monday even though I might be able to find "Jumper Cables" information before then 😂 but, if not I'm going to "Be kind to myself" and take a break from everything. Not worry to the best of my ability. So I'm writing a lot but my point is that this is a guitar related channel but, it's so much more right. Philosophy, great wisdom and knowledge. Plus Tomo your attitude is so positive it's contagious. It makes me happy to see you laughing and smiling, so relaxed. So whatever your intentions were when you thought about making this video, I thought I'd mention how you just never know what effect it's going to have. Probably you didn't think it could help me with my back pain 😂 when you made the video. Or that I'd feel relaxed for the first time in a while. I'm so glad you made this one! Just what I needed to hear tonight. Keep making these types of videos because I think people like to just listen to you talk but! Of course we love you're playing and teaching too. You can figure out the proper balance. Myself 30 minutes isn't too long at all. Oh, have you given anymore thought to a comparison video using a few of your guitars? No pressure right? Just thought of it now before I sign off. I'm going to have you reading for 30 minutes 😂 It's just nice to say Hi, and I'm always watching only lately I've been too distracted to comment. Okay, plenty from me already!! Wow! I'll talk to you soon and you're story is such a success story that it's good that you know that you're as much a guitar hero as any other great guitar players. I'm a big fan and everyone who hears you must feel the same way. Not just you're playing but as a human being but, we might not have known you if you weren't such an amazing musician right? It's just great to let us hear some of the interesting and fascinating things that went into making your life. Thanks Tomo, talk to you soon ✌️❤️🎸🎶🤣🙏
Thanks for sharing a lot of details. I really enjoy read your notes. Life is tough enough. No matter what you do, still many difficult times. I have learned from 1) Chromatic exercise 2) Swing Groove ... Those two items I practice everyday. Why? I learn how to be patient and keep going! If I lost my guitar job... I still can start at any place! Because I have this insane calmness & positive attitude. I am hoping your best outcome. So happy to hear this video 30 minutes was not too long. I will continue this "Tomo Talk" and talk about guitars (3-4 guitars to explain, compare etc) I already made 12 lesson videos & some practice/demo videos already. Thank you!
saw the title i don't have time tot watch at the second but no sir you are a musicians musician i love you and your playing thank you for being you sir!!!!
"Not about numbers, not about the fame. Just make sure to have great quality of life."
Such wisdom here. Thank you!
Very important about "Great quality of life" My goal is not about number one or top class... I want to be a little above the middle! You're very welcome! Thank you!
"Don’t Worry, Don’t Compare, Don’t Expect Too Fast, Be Kind to Yourself."
That’s what you taught me as a musician, Tomo. . .
Thank you so much!
Anyone who taught John Mayer guitar cannot be a failed musician by default.
You're very kind. Thank you!
Word!
Damn straight
I much prefer Tomo’s playing to JM’s. My personal preference. I listen to Tomo’s albums. Meyer’s an amazing player but not my cup of tea. Too much pop influence in his playing?
@@misteress3840 Thanks so much for listening my albums!
I am so fortune where I am today. I am so thankful to you & everyone!
Thank you so much! Thanks for sharing.
That's right! We need to get up again! Music is so good that way. Thanks for sharing. Thank you!
Thank you!!
22:33 Thank you for this Video. You don't Talk to much. Thank you for this STory!
You're very welcome! Thank you so much!

You can never fail, you have elevated people all over the world! You are a great human/instructor/mentor
Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing. There are so many ways to be successful. So happy to hear that. You made my day! Thank you so much!!
We are so lucky to have so many guitar teachers on TH-cam. I always come to Tomo Fujita for the Zen of being a guitar player.

So happy to hear that. Good job! We need triads! Thank you so much!
Not only you didn’t fail as a musicien but you also did not fail as a human being… and that is very special. Your share both of these mastery In a kind, fun and very meaningful way. I am touch by the human you are. I and also others i am sure, are deeply grateful 🙏

Tomo you inspired thousands of guitar learners, you are a true legend !!!

I wish I had a music teacher like you when I was younger Tomo. My college music teachers were horrible humans and were only there for their own egos.
Now that I've switched from trumpet to guitar you are my youtube teacher.
You are an amazing teacher. Famous to students the world over
Thanks for sharing! You can join my Guitar Wisdom. Our forum is so amazing! Thank you so much! I am so grateful.
Thank you for sharing! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! Now you see... I am working on my public speech!

Thank you so much! You can do it! I didn’t have anything at the beginning! No rhythm, no pitch, no harmony! I trained myself as good as someone who has been working very hard! Imagination is free! Why not?
Tomo you will always be great! as a musician as a friend and as a teacher.

You had so much good info and always put us at ease telling us 'Don't worry'. That was important to me because Berklee was intense. And your english was never a problem at all, your excitement about music and the sense of fun you gave your students came through loud and clear. I still remember you class and am honored that I got that time learning from you.

The SNL Audition was pretty big event in my life as a Japanese guy.
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing that. I love all of your videos not only because of your teaching but the way you are. Very meaningful
You're very welcome! So happy to hear that.
You definitely did not fail! You are an amazing musician and an amazing person. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us!
Thank you so much!
Glad I just found this video. Lots of wisdom you have Tomo. Insightful. You inspire everyday in your videos and listening to your beautiful guitar playing Life’s a journey. Thanks for sharing!
So happy to hear that! Thank you so much! You're very welcome!
Anyone who can play triplets like you do hasn't only NOT failed... you're showing how it's done. Bravo!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Guitar is so amazing! Thank you so much!
Thank you!
You haven't failed, you are a musician. Just think of how many people you have given music tools too and turned into musicians as well.
Thank you so much! I am so fortunate.
You are the best in my opinion. Because of your videos, I manage to master different riffs and rhythms.
Thank you so much!
So great to hear that. Thank you so much!
You are truly inspirational. Genuine. Gracious. Thank you. Truly.

I'm so appreciative of your doing these couple of videos where you are just talking and, right at the end I was going to mention how you didn't have a guitar or play even one note...and then you said it 😂
It's like listening to a brief history of your life as a guitar player and educator, as a human being.
I'm going to have you reading for 30 minutes 😂
It's just nice to say Hi, and I'm always watching only lately I've been too distracted to comment.
Thank you!
