Finally, a person who digs deep into the workspaces of an artist! I personally love looking at their spaces and the environment they create for themselves that fuels their art. Looking forward to more videos :)
Anybody that paints in their house, soon the whole house becomes the studio Everything on wheels and I have a rolling toolbox called a "hospital crash cart" the drawers are quite deep and they open all the way out with minimal effort and I can roll it to where ever I need it in my studio.
I’m happy with you talking for an hour about whatever you find interesting. You don’t have to cut things short for me and I’m sure there are others who agree. Thank you for your videos. 🙌👏
A film about the real practical buisness of art, by an artist , for artists - great. So much more interesting than academics theorising + intellectualising. Thank you.
I've always been fasinated by studio spaces and being able to see where these creations take shape is always so inspiring. Thanks for making these videos. Subscribed!
these videos are so interesting - and also helpful, as I work on trying to develop a more professional practice. I find the comments on some of the things that might seem obvious - like using floor mats - are actually useful too. Sometimes we just don't think of these things.
Really enjoying your work on these videos. Its motivating to see how these artists, working and getting paid artist's, have set themselves up to be successful. The lonely artist carthartically processing their life through art is all well and good but if you want to emerge into the world communicating with your art you need light. Light in your space can lead to light in your heart. Thats why solitary confinement in a dark cell is considered cruel punishment. Thankyou for bringing the light to how these successful artist's live. 👏🙏🔥
JJ has been my favorite since 2010! A great inspiration for so many of us creators. A couple suggestions for studios that I believe would be so cool to get a peek into- Odd Nerdrum (has an interesting studio set up along with his relationship with those he’s training) and David Choe 🖤 thanks for what you’re doing!
Thank you for this! James Jean became a favorite artist of mine when I discovered him last year. 😊 In addition, his set up IS enviable. I dream of the day I have an area or a studio where I can keep all of my materials out in the open and close at hand, as it DOES disrupt the process when you have to search and/or unpack!
Stunning art & architecture. I’m an artist with allergies and asthma so fumes and off gassing are huge issues for me. Just wondering how he manages air flow though I expect living in LA helps.
Great content, I love James Jean's work and your analysis of his studio space is super interesting! Can't wait to see more artists studios, and if you like his work, I would suggest Yoshitomo Nara! :)
I personally don't have much space to work in. I (sadly?) spent too many years teaching and not enough working. In any case, I see spaces like this being very similar to Tony Stark's garage. Having a large space dedicated to one's creative pursuits is a goal of many artists, including myself.
I'm a professional artist and I LUV seeing other artists' studio spaces too!!! This is soooo kool! I hop you do a lot more BTS of artist's studios. You're welcome to tour mine. LOL!!!
Gracias!
Thanks! I've added his name to my list. If there's a good amount of images and videos of his studio space he could be an really interesting one to look at.
I was wondering if you can’t visit the artist due to distance if you can sent them a message about the artist filming the reason behind their studio and sent it to you.
Yea definitely an option. Big channels like B1M do this for the architectural projects they cover. So it can definitely work well if the footage/photos are good quality.
I briefly featured Kaws' studio in the video titled 'Amazing Art Studios You’ve Probably Never Seen Before'. I didn't go into too much detail though so I will probably revisit his studio in a future video. Who knows, maybe i'll get to film the studio in person 👀
The reason why the warehouse works are depressing is because he was in the middle to the late stage of divorce. And he didn’t understand the art market painting what he thought high brow paintings because he’s a low brow artist. He later switched back to his more illustration style once that phase passed. He remarried, had a kid and bought a house around that time which is the current studio and the style lends itself to efficiency because it harkens back to his illustration days of coloring by numbers. He has employees to fill in the shapes by a color chart. Francis Bacon painted in a small studio and not a warehouse and it’s depressing and morbid.
man, you didnt mention that James studio was Frank Gery"s apartment... thats fine, you are not in the architecture world, but google it... anyway, thanks for the video.
Yea i'm aware of the buildings significance. In retrospect I probably should have mentioned it as it explains the layout and design of the interior which is important and relevant for James' setup.

Can't believe this doesn't have more views! Such a cool series idea
I'm currently building out my own studio and just seeing how prolific painters like James set things up is genuinely great
Thanks Kelsey!
@@KelseyRodriguez A studio tour is definitely in order!

Yes , I used to have an art studio in my house . Now I have a bed and table to eat in my art studio . I wouldn't change anything
And the canvas! 😂
Super jealous of that space ….loving your content showcasing Artists ❤
Proper craftsman, that´s the artist I respect, those who WORK.
I’m happy with you talking for an hour about whatever you find interesting. You don’t have to cut things short for me and I’m sure there are others who agree. Thank you for your videos. 🙌👏

He is such an inspiration. What he draws and how he paints are so cartoony but also realistic. His work is just unique and very cool
Loving your channel mate, keep going
Great video man !!!
Thanks for making this video. Been a big fan of his work for a while and a lot of his studio practices have been useful in my own work
Quality work.

I am very envious and inspired by his studio. I want to have something similar. I also agree, cupboards slow me down!
Insightful review of a great artist. Very knowledgeable and inspiring.
Much appreciated!
Brilliant content. Keep them coming :)
love this guy.

Insightful. Thank you
Thank you I really enjoyed that video 😊

Groovy idea...using your channel to get to meet any artist you like...with this research the next step is to become an art dealer
Love this content 😊 thank you
You're welcome! :)

Thanks for the support! Never heard of Yoshitomo Nara - great recommendation. Will certainly feature his studio in future videos!

“Working in a giant downtown L.A. studio where you can see his depression “. Aww. Poor baby.
I'm a professional artist and I LUV seeing other artists' studio spaces too!!! This is soooo kool! I hop you do a lot more BTS of artist's studios. You're welcome to tour mine. LOL!!!
Glad you found it interesting! What kind of art do you make?

Love your channel! Can you do a future video on the studio/ working style of comic book artist Junji Ito?

I think that warehouse space was when he was sharing it with David Choe.
You are correct.
Nice video’s 👌🏾👏💯 You have 1 more sub!
Thanks for the sub!
can you do a vid on kaws ?
I briefly featured Kaws' studio in the video titled 'Amazing Art Studios You’ve Probably Never Seen Before'. I didn't go into too much detail though so I will probably revisit his studio in a future video.
Who knows, maybe i'll get to film the studio in person 👀
@ I would love to see that thanks for responding 🤍 I’m gonna go watch that other vid now while i work on my art 🤣
