I love how these two had a conversation on opposing sides and still came to an understanding of where everyone was coming from. They both make great points and still bro’d out and continued their conversation. Awesome episode
You guys gotta have a weekly podcast together. He’s by far my favorite guest you have on. It’s always a great convo between you 2 on here and the honeydew
Love to hear when people call out false accusations and not just fall in line. I also love when people are comfortable enough to realize and admit they were wrong due to a misunderstanding. We need more of this, especially in America. Let’s talk through all the bs and realize most of us actually want the same things, so why stay divided?
As far as I'm concerned, people like what they like.Whether that is a body type, a skin color a sexual orientation or anything else.Just be happy with whatever it is that you want out of life.
@@ordinarypete As Ryan noted my only problem is with J thinking it is okay to judge other people over their own preferences. It's just as inappropriate as telling a lgbtq+ person they're "just confused" about being attracted to other people from their own gender.
Dude if you are a straight white male raised in lower / middle class you are now a minority. Your a disgusting disgrace to society. So it seems anyway.
I was so upset that today was Wednesday and I had no new Ryan sickler podcast to listen to and BOOM! Jason saves the day! It’s almost like he’s Batman or something
sickler standing on business someone had to call out the bs its not homophobic or transphobic if you do not find them attractive his not being prejudice or throwing hate towards them. cmon ellis its like saying ur a homopho cause ur not gay anymore
Sickler not understanding why people need to talk about who they are comes with his own life bias of already being accepted by society. And anyone that @'s me, yes, I know the tough life he grew up with. He was accepted by society in ways others are not to this day.
Between Ryan and Josh Potter it's been kinda rough for Jason this month lol All good though. I enjoy listening to comedians talk about the deeper or borderline type of stuff. Hope everyone was good afterward. I'm sure they were. Thanks for posting ❤
Just because you're straight doesn't mean it's wrong. If your sexual preference isn't men or trans women doesn't mean you're homo or transphobic. Philic means it's the only thing that you get off on, and obsession. Phobia means you're actually scared of it. There's a lot of in-between. I agree with Ryan. There's nothing wrong with being straight and not wanting to have sex with a man. He never said it was wrong with what you do but it was wrong the way he felt for some reason. Haha I love these discussions and you get to the point of "Sounds like a you problem not a me problem and I'm here while you work through what you need to work through"
Podcasting has reached it’s peak, great episode. The amount of ads is wild…people are about to move on to the next thing. Following the gameshow “sell products” mentality…is going to give people a reason to move on to the next thing. Getting lame AF! Podcasting is becoming dishonest, In 2 years…it’s dead. Maybe just sell your thing “old dudes can learn to skate” and a ball shaver. People are about to leave…becoming corporate crap
I'm a trans ally but Ryan Sickler is absolutely right about expressing his disinterest in trans women. He's doing right by not condemning anyone but it's not for him. That said, I wish he could see Kim Petras, known trans edm female artist. Look her up! I wouldn't be interested either per se but some trans women have fully transitioned.
This conversation is very similar to one i had with an old friend. I understand preferences, but my friend doesnt think youre straight if you like trans women. 🤷
Love sick with Jason's entertaining but absolutely loves sick with all and they're talking about people doing their classics. When that came to my mind was Gabriel and one of his newer specials he took and did his hits and everyone was finishing his jokes fall off cuz he knew what ones are the most popular that get rewashed so much. He's like you don't need me.
Should Ryan have used the following to explain the Carmine Electra vs baby reindeer issue? I like the tv show the A team. The movie I don't like as much as the tv show. It's not the same.
Jason - this line of reasoning is silly. I’ve dated trans girls too, but some people just aren’t interested in the LGBT paradigm sexually. They can still be allies…
Sickler trying to get plugs in toward the start and acting like he'll forget is hilarious. He NEVER forgets to do it at the start of every pod hes on. He just knows most people dont watch the whole thing. Plugs really arent that important, man. If people like you theyll find you.
@quacker008 it's annoying to hear time and time again the same excuse to plug it early on. It felt like it killed the flow out the gate on this one specifically and for most of the pod it felt like sickler was talking a LOT about himself
No more of this CONFONTATIONS and HEATED debate crap.. I have not made it through a whole ep since Viking Barbie.. I love Sickler and Jase but f f s, this is tiring.
It's disappointing to hear Ryan's comments about the trans community. Despite years of him seeming confident, empathetic, and intuitive, his views on this issue are narrow-minded and hypocritical. It's common for people to hold contradictory beliefs, but hopefully, he'll realize that telling marginalized groups to "shut up about it" while claiming "I'm not homophobic" is incompatible.
He was making the point that nobody should be shielded from comedy and that no one should be policed or automatically judged a bigot for their personal preferences. He was being called transphobic for not having a sexual preference toward them which is as wrong as calling a gay man a bigot for not being sexually attracted to women. He was supporting trans inclusivity, free speech, and rationality
@@xl8751 While comedy can be edgy, using it to target marginalized groups isn't "personal preference," it's harmful. Also, not being attracted to trans people doesn't justify disrespecting their identity. True inclusivity means listening, not telling people to "shut up." Free speech has limits, and words have consequences. Hopefully Ryan can learn from this.
@@xl8751 It seems you're conflating a few things: Trans inclusivity doesn't hinge solely on sexual preference. While attraction is a personal matter, inclusivity means respecting trans people's identities and basic human rights, regardless of anyone's sexual orientation. Free speech isn't absolute. It comes with responsibilities. Words have consequences, and using free speech to spread harmful stereotypes or incite hatred against a marginalized group isn't protected. "Rationality" requires examining biases. It's not rational to dismiss the concerns of an entire community by telling them to "shut up." True rationality involves listening, empathizing, and challenging one's own preconceived notions. Ryan's words (while I don't think he's trying to be hateful) reveal a lack of understanding about the lived experiences of trans people and the real harm caused by transphoia. As a fellow, straight white male; I truly believe he's open to learning and becoming a ally. ✌🏼
@@trevorcarlisle5447 I hear you but also his shut up isn’t to dismiss the struggles of trans people. It’s to treat them as equal; he’s not saying shut up your problems aren’t relevant. He’s saying that trans is indeed normal. But the people of any gender or persuasion who constantly talk about their identity and problems related to it and expect all of society to treat them nicely or completely match their worldview should shut up. Because it’s both unrealistic, it’s a luxury that’s not afforded to any group, and it’s a disservice for those dealing with harsher problems. I didn’t hear it as an insensitive indictment of an entire group of people. Just to a subsection. if he were being vicious about it, that’s one thing, but he seemed pretty open minded and supportive overall. I think we’re all after the same peace just framing it in different terms.
@@trevorcarlisle5447 You are wrong. In comedy, everybody gets these jokes as long as they as it's a good written joke and funny. Dont even try the 'it is harmful towards the marginalized ' shit. Unless you are brain dead, you can hear, see and feel the difference between a comedian performing a joke with the intent to make you laugh or someone with the intent to hurt someone. Your rhetoric is dangerous and in a couple of years you will care more about some other group of society that your feed will convince you to care and be an 'ally' of, and by your logic COMEDIANS shouldnt make jokes about them. And in a couple years when another marginalized group dominates you social media, then we should QUICKLY ban all comedians making fun of them also. Because hey, "it's harmful". After a couple of decades all comedians will have a handbook of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the marginalized groups they are not allowed to make fun of because it's harmful. See how fucking flawed your logic is if you think about it from a long term MACRO perspective?
