Thats the official government bridge website
This is a virtual tour i took of the bridge

And this is an image i was commisioned to take

This timelapse movie was shot with a Canon 5D with a photo every 3 seconds on a 2.5 second exposure. The aperture was fixed to F3.2 on ISO 400, and it was using a Sigma 17 - 35mm lens, set to 22mm.
The time delay was produced by using the Canon TC80N3 remote timer release.
    Regards
    Ian

Thats right, getting from the baltic car park, to the pubs... best way to park in newcastle as you also get straight back out of the city and dont get stuck in the traffic :oD

I live just up the road from the bridge. It doesn't open often, but when it does, it always gathers a crowd. probably waiting to get across. lol

What an amazing structure, very eye-cathing indeed. I would like to visit Newcastle one day and hopefully it's not too... rough as Geordies sometimes are percieved. They should build something of the like here in Oxford.

    Hi there
Nope, the bridge pivots on massive bearings on both sides and on each side just under the pivots are HUGE hydraulic rams that push the bridge over and pull it back. They are very exposed and you can see them working. You wouldn't want to get your toe trapped in one!! :)

did you have the change the shutter speed to make the glow on the sky. or does it look like that? I know very little about still photography. I love editing videos though,

  • @da8iwr
    @da8iwr  16 ปีที่แล้ว

Well some of the weight is cantilevered by the top part of the bridge as it tilts over, but the rest is powered by the rams. Nothing is underwater and it is a very simple movement.

@MikeyAceH I've lived all over the UK and Europe, and find all places have good and bad people. I lived in London for a while and still im amazed how rude and horrible most people are. Get on the Metro in Newcastle and then compare people against people on the Tube in London. I've seen people help older generations on and off the metro, can you imagine that in London?
Newcastle is also outstanding for food and rink, with some of the best bars and nightclubs in the UK.

This is how they collect all the coins, marbles and rat's eggs that could end up cluttering the bridge.

I was just there this morning, enjoying the view. This shows the bridge in all its glory, nice job!

Hi Ian, I'm editing a little production at the moment, a documentary featuring some musicians in Newcastle. would you mind us using this footage? we'll credit you for it and would even be happy to talk about a small fee. We don't have much of a budget but we want to be fair
