I just realized something, Astolfo is the first servant who we see actually get their wish fulfilled by the end of a grail war in the fate series.
Tokusatsu Keyblade Yeah even though his wish is just to follow Sieg's last request.
Technically His Wish got Reversed, he wish for Sieg to have that but ending up getting it himself
Well the greater grail is the only grail that isn't corrupted, so it could grant your wish without ruining the world
Kairi and Mordred got their wishes granted without knowing too.

The man, the meme, the legend. But seriously, Astolfo has always been one of my favorite characters to come out of the Nasuverse. Wether you like his design or not, his character is just so fun and care free, how could you dislike him?
I hate him. Really. He's not funny, he's not interesting to watch, he's one of the main reasons why I hate Apocrypha.

@Rhadamanthys I disagree, I actually thought he was adorable and is also one of the main reasons why i continued watching apocrypha besides Achilles and Chiron.
With Sieg and Jeanne, he stole most of the screentime of other characters. While he could, I don't know, fleshing out the most interesting characters, Higashide decided to focus on stupid romance and trap jokes. Besides, he has a massive plot armor just like Sieg.
Anyway, I just hate Astolfo. Good for you if you like him, but I just can't bring myself to appreciate his character.

Archer and Saber did get a "happy" ending in UBW too.
Alvaro De Grandes+ Um... not really. Archer, assuming the memories of the war are actually retained (I don't think they are...) is still stuck as a counter guardian. Forever. So whatever hope or positivity he gains is going to die (eventually) and he will just end up in the same situation again. Saber also suffers from a generally terrible fate, being stuck on the battlefield of Baddon hill until she wins the grail - with the added joy of being surrounded by the corpses of basically everyone she ever cared for.
But hey, those are... kind of happy, right?
Shiki and Mikiya get a happy ending.

Comedy/Adventure anime, really. I've read a bit of a translation of Astolfo's parts of Orlando Furioso and it's an enjoyable adventure!

Thank you for doing a video about his actual lore and not just covering what was briefly shown in Apocrypha. Most of the videos about Astolfo are just people being upset that he’s male, etc.
It was actually really disappointing that there wasn’t a single flashback reference to Astolfo’s backstory in the anime. Even though he comes from a work of fiction it would have been nice.
I also want to know what the other paladins look like in the Fate Universe. I’ve only seen Roland and Charlemagne.

@@tartali2956 Technically we have been shown Roland, Renaud and Oliver. They also have confirmed that Ruggiero, Bradamante's lover, is a Heroic Spirit with the eternal wish of meeting Bradamente once more (kind of like Rama and Sita).

Oh yes the Trap and I still don't know what to classify him as because he can either be one of the best bros in the series or one of three best girls in fate apocrypha. But regardless of who he is this was a really good lore video and even though Astolfo was a weakling he still gave it his all. But seriously he looks good dressed up as a girl damn it Astolfo stop being cute.

Yuwan Understandable and I’ve been down many similar routes just as these. I’ve learned to just accept that everyone speaks differently with unique word choices and to just focus on the point that is being made. New people are born everyday and eventually come to points like these in life, indefinitely. Don’t get me wrong though as there are certain builds to some sentences that will make me want to grind my teeth. But all in all... I recommend just focusing on and adding to the post(s) and sticking with understanding what others are trying to say without altering paths and assuming anyone is trying to be exclusive when they’re actually not trying to be. Though this is just a recommendation, so it’s your free choice to ignore this and continue to rudely make assumptions about whether someone is or isn’t doing something without gathering facts on their intent.
Anyhow back to what people came to this thread for, Astolfo is best.

Hmm, interesting that the Fate version skips over and abridges some things, like how Astolfo kills Orrilo, the unkillable bandit, in Egypt. That particular feat shows that Astolfo is still formidable even though he's the weakest of the Paladins.
Orrilo's body regenerates from anything by simply reattaching anything harmed or severed (it's likened to how mercury will clump back together into a single puddle even if it splatters), but Astolfo reads how to dispel the charm from his magic book: there will be a single hair on Orrilo's head that is the source, and when cut off, will remove the enchantment. Astolfo swordfights Orrilo, dismembering body parts and dealing (what would be) fatal blows all over until he finally hits his mark: he severs the bandit's head. As soon as that happens, he grabs the head and runs off on his trusted horse Rabicano, while Orrilo's body searches around for his head and then mounts his own charger to chase after. Astolfo, while riding, examines the head and can't tell which hair is special and they all look the same, so he just figures _"Better to cut all than none!"_ and uses his sword to shave the head, and that works!
I wish that were present in what I read. I certainly never heard it mentioned in Fate.

there are many ways astolfo can "bring happiness"
Speaking about Charlemagne, I wsih they would have given him a much bigger role in the Nasuverse than a Artoria Clone( when Arthur is most likely based on Charlemagne). He was one of the many people, who declared Magic and Witchcraft as a myth and not something real, which would have actually lead to the end of Witchhunts until the late Middle ages. This Footnote could have been used for a backstory as to why the hell the Chruch assoiciated itself with the Mage Association and would have been an aweseome explaination as to why Magic more and more dissapeared in this world, instead of the Gods sudden dissapearence with the birth of Christ XD XD XD. If i would be in Type-Moon, i would write his character this Way: A Strong ruler, with an strong desire to unite the Germanic people on one banner and bring prosperity to his people in the name of God, but a religious fanatic, intolerant of other religious believes and would force his own people to believe in God. To reduce the influence of the Mages and Witches, who had grown more powerful, he elaborated a decptive, yet cunning plan to destroy Witchcraft once for all. First he would declare Magecraft as an illusion and just nothing more, but a fantasy, to make people less interested and likely to follow it, because a system that is ridiculed is easier to fight against than a system that is hated. He would burn down people, for burning witches, for it´s according to his own reasoning, heresy to even believ that Witches exist. At first the Mages didn´t took the denial of Magic seriously until they witnissed the lack of new students and the ever-dwinding belief in their powers weakening thier system, desperate they tried to curse Charlemagne and bring terror to Europe, in order to prevent thier decline. Charmagne however was protected by the Spear of destiny, that gave him Magical protection against most Magic. With this, he is able to repell most spells and defeat most of the Medieval Mages, except the ancestor to Zelretch or Einzbern or something, who beat him to a stalemate. They then made a truce that the Church will keep Magecraft a secret and they can live, as long as they promise to not spread the knowledge of Magic. Thus The Church and the Mage Association is linked.
Yuwan I don't know if you know this or not but Charlemagne is a key character in Fate/Extella Link. And because the game haven't out yet, we know nothing about him. Aside from the fact that his personality is completely opposite of Altria, a non-serious chill as f*ck guy.

Nah, in Orlando Furioso, the epic poem it's from, it actually has the counter-charms and dispelling conditions for basically anything written in it. In the Fate universe, it's a Mystic Code (i.e. magic item) in and of itself. I suppose a few pages here and there _might_ consist of only NO MAGIC just to be safe, though...
When i got astolfo from my 2nd re roll in JP, i was like dem cute girl then as i share my loot to my friends they laugh at me coz astolfo was not a she... i was like demmmm son.
P.s. astolfo did save my ass a couple of times during the events he never fail to hit his target.

Hello. I really like your Fate Lore vids. I am just curious, which materials are these info from? If they're light novels, I'd very much like to read them.
Well, Fate Apocrypha is a light novel, but Astolfo's tales are actual literary works that tell of his exploits. They can be hard to track down but his was a fun read.
