I love the sensitivity in renovating this gorgeous chateau. It’s not ostentatious or wallpapered or painted within an inch of its life. I love the authenticity of it, and letting the building and the architecture speak for itself. Just beautiful!
MERCI BEAUCOUP.
dreamy, soft and quite wonderful video, the beauty of it underlined by your soothing, soft voice - a piece of the French Dream come true. Living in France myself, I know that this dream comes at a high cost but I admire and applaud owners taking that much courage & money in their hands to recreate such a tresor. Thank You Sharon & the hosts
I love that there are those who believe in restoring such gifts from the past instead of letting them crumble by the wayside. Thank you for showing us this labor of love, and thanks to Marie Christine and Louis Cavaglioni for undertaking it!
Exquisite. Sharon, thank you for an updated tour. I remember the early photos and can't wait to view more. Thank you to Marie Christine and Louis for their generous desire to share their restoration, their home.
People seem to want to fill their chateau's with 'stuff' but this chateau is tasteful, restrained and poetic. Reminds me a little of Axel Vervoordt's castle.
Very elegant in a sparsely furnished and perfectly proportioned way. Making the most of the good bones. The choice of Music and tone of voice all exquisite. ❣🙏thanks so much for sharing
A truly beautiful Chateau, calming and peaceful color. Wonderful music to listen to and you have such a pleasant voice that keeps me interested in listening and learning about places you show us. betsy
I love the simplicity of the decor..the peaceful neutral palette...the sparse furnishings...when rooms are blessed with lovely historic architecture filling them with clutter and bright color compromises and hides the natural beauty in my opinion..
There are many hundreds of chateaux in France that are either falling down or so neglected that restoring them is not possible for 'normal' humans. Americans like Timothy Corrigan generally find it less daunting. This is a lovely place, done perfectly ! Bravo.
Es un lugar precioso, su historia , su arquitectura. No logro disernir si es nostalgia lo que senti al verla, transmite soledad y calma que emana de los tonos arenas de sus paredes. Toda una reliquia del pasado.
Magnificent. Gorgeous house. I would want to make it less plain and more glamorous and elegant. But what these people have achieved is stunning. The house oozes beauty
Those who preserve and restore treasures like these learn the past and leave these treasures to posterity in hopes that we learn to live up to them. Merci.
And I know PRECISELY which magazines the Chatelaine has been a stylist for. Her touch has inspired people I know, from Montecito to Moscow to Melbourne. Every issue of those magazines, seems to be permanently stored, and kept as reference. I see stacks (or shelves) of them, in "homes of importance", all over the world. It never occurred to me, however, that a finite number of people (or a single person) was behind that styling. The video, by the way, was as flawless and soothing as was that perfect residence.
Totally amazing and exquisitely beautiful. Not to bring anyone down to the earth but can you imagine the maintenance on this place. Coming from a Veteran Remodel Carpenter I'm just SayiNNNNN. Feel me😑
Beautiful home but didn't direct such plain furnishing inside. I guess I expected it to look very elegant and rich with wall hangings and furnishings of what I see that time period it was built and inspired by. Love they put so much effort to restore the home. It's sad to see historic and beautiful homes left to decay
Madame je suis très hereux d'avoir trouvé votre chaîne . Je suis des Philippines , j'aime la décoration et l'art de vie à la française . Merci infiniment .
Finally a decent video picturing the real spirit of French Chateau's. The majority of the things that I've seen on YT is a bunch of kitch wannabe chateau's.
I think it would be interesting to do a follow up video in summer or spring. Just to see as the light changes. I don't know what else to day. I've been to Nice and nearby in the winter, and it didn't feel like this. Yet I was on the coast... It feels more like Normandy where I have family from. Yet anyway. Perhaps more Provencal in the countryside... It's lovely all around. Though I can relate to the varying comments all around. On the empty comments, I think it'd be too stark all the time for me too in some areas, I get drawn to more warmth. Also, my cats are very cheerful so I find things that are bright and cute for them too. ... I'd put more up more in fall and at the holidays, or even a tapestry on the wall as a bit more storybook romantic and from a long line of print/book collectors (I love the Cluny museum) and more in winter like this, with some greenery. Yet, everyone is different, sometimes it's good to be paired down too with so much nature around especially. Like a retreat from the world.( A great space to do yoga in too.) I appreciate the subtle beauty and simplicity. It's like French Zen. I love the living room! I'm inspired for a guest cottage that's paired down. The owners must be very peaceful and have a rich inner life. They look like very happy people. Not everyone can even pull something like this off, let alone live there. It's truly incredible to conclude. It's so great to know there are places and people unaffected by too much materialism in the world. We do need some contrast! Like the infamous bell curve... baroque to minimalism. or the world would be boring.... and over consumed! I think everyone can take a lesson from this Chateau in some way. A lovely video! It leaves you feeling calm and with an appreciation for the subtle beauty in the world! Merci :)
"Furnishing it appropriately" is such a respectful manner of restoring these chateaus... chateaus have unique characteristics and are very personal to the ones who built it, I'm glad they're not doing something out of its character.
Just amazing and beautiful! How the heck do you heat or cool the place in the summer ? I myself don’t believe I would like walking on brick or stone throughout my entire residence. Think I would invest a lot in oriental rugs for the floor. The owner besides having money must have also had patience. This is a beautiful place. I hope he has a son or a daughter to leave this magnificent place to some day.
Beautiful!!! Just perfectly lovely! I have not seen the before pictures, this is my first view of your channel. I am wondering if you are aware of Chateau Lumiere? It sounds like it is in better shape than this one was when you began and it so needs your loving touch!!! That would be fantastic to see it restored!!! Hopefully you can. I will now check out your channel and see what other treasures there are :)) Oh one thought, wondering if installing radiant floor heating connected to solar panels would be helpful with the enormous costs of heating a place like this? Just wondering since it is completely hidden and can be so much less expensive.
..... I didn't want to wake up one cat that was sleeping... so I had watched it on mute... I see, that's quite cool they left some rooms to be shared for other purposes, and that it is in Provence. That is often very different from the coast... literally even in the color of the buildings often times. I remember Lindsay Duncan's character in "A Year in Provence" wanting the avant kitchen.. which I really liked too in the film. anyway, I said enough, just adding a little bit to conclude.
If you watch the other people's channels... they layer and carry hot water bottles around with them. You will quickly understand what the wigs, layers upon layers of clothing and jackets were for... not really fashion, but to keep warm.
Very great, really. I would like to be in touch with you for finding a solution to buy this property with several other people who would like to invest. I am a retired German lawyer.
Was it very cold in the chateau Sharon, I noticed you rubbing your hands together and keeping your coat and scarf on. I’ve just found you after ordering your beautiful book My French Country Home and am delighted to have done so. I look forward to many more videos.
I would like to know more about this property. I am from the Gillette and Lafayette families and would like to find some of our old properties. History of the family is important to track down today for an understanding of who we were.
Absolutely beautiful, one day I want to holiday in a chateau like this. What a marvellous experience it would be.
I love the sensitivity in renovating this gorgeous chateau. It’s not ostentatious or wallpapered or painted within an inch of its life. I love the authenticity of it, and letting the building and the architecture speak for itself. Just beautiful!

Exquisite. Sharon, thank you for an updated tour. I remember the early photos and can't wait to view more. Thank you to Marie Christine and Louis for their generous desire to share their restoration, their home.
So lovely to see a renovation like this which sensitively preserves the château's timeless quality, as if you could step back into another era...
Beautiful chateau! Lovely story! Thank you for sharing!
People seem to want to fill their chateau's with 'stuff' but this chateau is tasteful, restrained and poetic. Reminds me a little of Axel Vervoordt's castle.
Absolutely enchanting, Sharon! They have done an amazing job with their painstaking attention to detail.
What a beautiful restoration. I love the simple colour palette and minimal decor. It allows the beautiful architecture to stand out.
Very elegant in a sparsely furnished and perfectly proportioned way. Making the most of the good bones. The choice of Music and tone of voice all exquisite. ❣🙏thanks so much for sharing
You always share so many gifts of elegance! Thank you Sharon🥂

I was reminded of the Chateau. I recently found a facebook page dedicated to saving château du duc d'Epernon
It reminds me very much of one villa in Italy.
Bravo👏🏻!
Stunning, lucky him...

Beautiful but makes me feel nostalgic and lonely.
Beautiful chateau, it seems to be missing color though.....they should visit chateau Lalande for inspiration 😀👍🏻🌈
It must cost a small fortune to heat.
They are used to being cold
Fireplaces
Linda Debreto no no one gets used to being cold🥶i mean could you get used to being frigid all the time?
If you watch the other people's channels... they layer and carry hot water bottles around with them. You will quickly understand what the wigs, layers upon layers of clothing and jackets were for... not really fashion, but to keep warm.
Yep! Electricity Upwards from $2k+monthly
Stunning, but it took 10 years to turn it into what it is now?
