I’m trying to comeback to shoot weddings again. My dad and I had a photo studio in New York years ago. So I have been buying photo gear and basically the only thing I’m missing is a good lighting tool to help me get soft natural lighting on my photography.
I love balancing natural light with the fill of a flash. That way you get to show off the incredible scenery that the couple has chosen to host their event at, but you don't lose any detail!
I LOVE how you used the 3 lights on a stand in 3 different locations in order to get any shot from any angle! That's so helpful when you are a stand alone photographer without an assistant! Great tips and great shots!
I like the contrast dramatic flash look for two reason. 1) As a new photographer I have shot 5 events (4 indoor, 1 outdoor) those indoor events had dim to terrible yellowish lightings my V1 carry’s me. 2) I would honestly say lack of confidence at this young point of my photography journey. Natural light scares me cause of the potential changing dynamics + working with a client(s) the pressure to know instantly what settings to switch too the sun has disappeared behind a cloud, oh no now it back harsher than before. While client(s) waiting watching me is nerve racking. After watching the video I will go out and practice some more with blending flash and natural look.
Sarah Edmunds is one of my favorite photographers out there. I love to strike a balance between natural light and flash whenever possible. I also love the flashy, contrasty look, but not overdone
I like both the natural ambient light look but I also love dramatic skies so my answer would have to be I like both and I will do both depending in the mood and working conditions.
Love using flash! And also using flash to bring up shadows outdoors. The 3 stands positioned in a triangle around the room is a great tip!. Which stands did you use and how high do they go?
Love the consistent look of all the photos! I love the natural look blend of the flash, because unlike the contrast rich flash photos, it doesn't look like the photo was digitally manipulated.
I like the dramatic, contrast powerful flash like because of the dimension it adds to the images. They images don't look so flat and it gives it some form of depth.
Without doubt natural light for church and everything else a mix of ambient and flash for more impactful images where lighting is challenging and controlled through my trusty ad200 and ad400 pro flash units. Currently sat waiting for a flight to undertake a wedding and a fashion shoot thank god for godox making it so much easier. If you are reading this and don't own any godox units you are missing out.
For Indian wedding a more contrasting flash look great cause of the coloured attire the bride and groom are wearing. I shoot with godox 685ttl and 600 manual flash both can be controlled with godox X1 trigger
@@sarahedmunds I will be in Italy for June until 26th of September should require any video coverage. Best wishes and congratulations on your ongoing success!
I prefer a dramatic look with flash. This is mainly acomplished with the direction of light from an off-camera flash and it doesn't have to be overpowering. It provides a level of professional finish that my clients and their familes can't replicate with their smartphones. I do also use subtle fill flash for a natural blended look when appropriate, sometimes shooting TTL with as much as -2ev flash compensation to just kiss the subject with light and perfect what was "almost" perfect available light.
Hi GODOX :) It depends on the situation and some conditions. But dramatic, contrasty powerful flash shots attracts more attention, so this is my answer. Have a great day! And for sure you should have more subscribers and view. Really good film!
For architecture and fashion photography I prefer a natural look with blended flash, for fine art I prefer a dramatic flashed look. I love experiment the opposite too. The Godox family of Pro strobes is so dynamic and powerful that let me try and innovate with a lot of possibilities in location.
I prefer natural light and flash blended if the situation asks for it. I used to shoot bare bulb 20 years ago. Now with the variety and portability of light modifiers I have a lot of options. I only use a strong contrasty flash in very dark venues during nighttime.
Your photography and lighting are excellent! As a long time pro who's shot a ton of weddings I appreciate your creativity with poses and lighting. Great work!
I prefer a natural look and always try to blend ambient with flash light in the most natural way. A great inspirational video as always, can't wait for the next one.
I personally prefere to keet it as natural as possible, but with using the flash just to fill in the shadows and harsh uneven lighting on the faces, and add just bit of contrast. My go to on weddings is AD200, which small and compact, and help manure easy and fast.
Great to see you in action at a wedding event !! And a professional like yourself inspires confidence to the wedding couple to pose in front of the camera and with your calm and professional approach on wedding day makes everything run ever so smooth 👌📸
I prefer a more natural look with blended flash for the majority of my shots, but depending on the scenario/environment, I'm not opposed to the dramatic, contrasty,, powerful flash. Great video.
I love my Godox lighting at weddings and I prefer a natural look with fill lights. The reception lighting Sarah used with a 3 light setup is something I must try at my next wedding!
Derek this is a game changer! Four lights is better with a big room, and you can do it with two on opposite sides, but in that case maybe an on camera fill flash as well on a low setting.
sometime I prefer the natural look with blended flash style but my always go to style is a dramatic style. that is my mostly used off camera flash style specially for wedding day.
I really prefer the the dramatic contrast most times. however when I’m capturing the couples love in tender moments I love the soft natural light with barely a tinge of flash! Either way it depends on the moment and the emotion I want to capture. I can say I am a huge fan of Goddox I love the easy set up and portability. The price is exceptional as well!
Natural look almost all the time. Even in studio emulate a windows light with a flash is because in my head I'm thinking in natural light. And I need the technology to help me in this country when most of the time is cloudy and is raining.
For me a well balanced lighting not looking fake is more important. Visually appealing pictures, especially in wedding is the prime requirement and for that even a high contrast look at times to highlight a certain aspect is welcome. So it is more about what works in the given scenario.
It all depends on the subject for me, subjects have their attributes that are flattering in a specific light. I personally prefer the more contrasty flash look myself.
I personally prefer natural look with blended flash for portraits where my goal is to capture realistic and flattering photos. I use flash to fill in shadows and additional lighting without overpowering the natural light or sometimes harsh shadows.
I normally prefer a mixture of natural light with a pop of flash, but it also depends on the event and look that I'm going for. Great work on this wedding. 👍
So my personal favorite is the dramatic look with flash. But sometimes depends on the situation or what kind of photoshoot I am doing so then it is like going with the flow, And also many times it depends on the client did they want dramatic pictures or more on the natural side. But If anyone asks me what kind of look I prefer, I love a dramatic look with a little bit of moody look. And Most of the time I do my all shoots with ad400pro, And when It is needed so I use ad400+ad300pro both.
For A Wedding I prefer a soft natural look. As making those moments as natural as possible. but for couple shots if I have a nice bokeh or nice sky I'd definitely shoot some dramatic pictures too.

Well blended look is the best.
I like both ways of shooting but with godox anything is possible. Great photos at this wedding. Thanks for the lesson and congratulations
thank you! so happy you enjoyed it
It really comes to the subject matter and the concept. Though the natural look with blended flash is definitely my go to
Sarah Edmunds is one of my favorite photographers out there. I love to strike a balance between natural light and flash whenever possible. I also love the flashy, contrasty look, but not overdone
Thank you so much Ricardo! X
I like the more natural look. I also love creating images in the sunset.
I like natural light but love watching and learning all about these products.
I like both the natural ambient light look but I also love dramatic skies so my answer would have to be I like both and I will do both depending in the mood and working conditions.
Beautiful Lighting ..... Soft Blended Lighting! for a wedding but in other times moody lighting is just the thing needed.
Love using flash! And also using flash to bring up shadows outdoors. The 3 stands positioned in a triangle around the room is a great tip!. Which stands did you use and how high do they go?
They need to go to up to 3m to be high enough to not cast too many shadows
@@sarahedmunds Perfect. Thank-you Sarah

🥰
Thank you for having the videos. Kudos to the photographer and Godox.
I prefer a more natural blended light look. However a few dramatic contrast protraits are at times beautiful to add too.
I like the dramatic, contrast powerful flash like because of the dimension it adds to the images. They images don't look so flat and it gives it some form of depth.
For me, I really love the soft & well balanced lighting..

Totally agree!
I like a combination of both. Natural and blended during the day and then some more drama with the lighting in the evening.
Amazing work.. thanks for sharing, I prefer both looks... soft n natural look during day light and dramatic look indoors like dance floor,etc..
Soft mimicking natural light
For Indian wedding a more contrasting flash look great cause of the coloured attire the bride and groom are wearing. I shoot with godox 685ttl and 600 manual flash both can be controlled with godox X1 trigger
It’s the soft natural lighting for me. Absolutely stunning 😍😍😍
This video has inspired me to purchase the Ad300! May I ask what light stand you are using?
Great work Sarah!!
Thank you David! :-)

A soft light to blend for that natural feel.. aaahhhh
i prefer the dramatic look that flash gives...almost true to what our eye can see and envision.
Mixing of natural light with flash makes the picture more beautiful and gives more life to the picture
I love the seamless blend of natural light and flash to give a very subtle natural light look.
Gracias por compartir este maravilloso video!

A natural look with blended flash but I also love the dramatic look too.
Very simple, natural look. I am using 3 AD200 Pro. For me these are enough. 😊

Lovely pictures. May I ask which light stand is that used in this video?
Really sorry, I can't remember as it's an old lightweight one that has been in my studio for over 12 years. But Godox does a great range of stands!
I like soft lighting, less edgy shadows on the face and neck.
I personally prefere to keet it as natural as possible, but with using the flash just to fill in the shadows and harsh uneven lighting on the faces, and add just bit of contrast. My go to on weddings is AD200, which small and compact, and help manure easy and fast.
I feel that one can create more interesting pictures when under restriction or short of equipment/tools. So I prefer natural light with minimum gear.
Hands down: a well blended soft addition is my lighting set to go!
