The traditional solution being you ask guard 1 what type of guard (lying or truth telling) guard 2 would say guard 1 is. If the guard says "He would say I tell the truth", then that's the lying guard. If he says "He would say I lie", then that's the truth telling guard.

      thing is, "he is" is just as broken: you answer with that, but if you're the liar, then you're lying, pointing at the other one. if you're not the liar, you're telling the truth. Neither can answer 'I am' and follow the logical problem of the 'always' part of 'lie/tell the truth'. the trick is that the one faced with the conundrum needs to ask a question were no matter who answers, the answer itself reveals the liar. I don't remember what the puzzles' actual "question-answer" is tho.

    • @ElizabethT45
      @ElizabethT45 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I found "how to beat the Labyrinth" and the guards puzzle is beatable with this rule - you get to ask one guard one question. The question you should ask is, what will the other guard say is the safe fork in the path?
      If Path A is safe and Path B is unsafe, the lying guard will say that the other guard recommends Path B (he thinks you'll spot the lie.) The truthful guard, asked the same question, will say that the other guard lies and will recommend Path B (he also thinks you'll spot the lie.) The solution is to always choose Path A or the opposite of what either guard says.
