Kaliber 44 (and later Paktofonika) was quite legendery. Honestly the songs were all well picked, especially, Liroy (i love Scyzoryk soo much jeez) many years later was a member of our parlament. Getting back to K44 and Paktofonika - one of the members, Magik (Magician) has unfortunatelly passed away taking his own life jumping from 9th story (his own house). First song featured (Plus i Minus) was quite experimental for the time, very psychodelic, people to this day still debate it's contents and easter eggs. If I'm not mistaken it's about AIDS (or some other STD), and Magik beeing paranoid about results of his HIV test. The second one (Jestem Bogiem - literally I'm a god) is probably the most famous polish rap song ever. After Magiks death a movie was made under the same name (Jestem Bogiem) telling a story of how they've (the group Paktofonika) achieved so much and the struggles along the way.

When it comes to what was the most popular rap genre thru the years, up to like 2015 it was the first og wave. Rap was the music of blocks(of flats, we call our grey complexes blokowiska) and keeping it real and og was a thing of honour. Unfortunatelly this meant that the subculture was (still is) full of wanna be gangsters, commiting minor crimes, keeping the spirit of "blokowiska" and overall "keeping it real". After 2015 rap music bleed out to children, we've had a wave of what we call hiphopolo (HipHop & Disco Polo {The most hated genre among poles}) with artists like Kizo for example. Right now it's pretty much the pop genre in poland, or at least the line between pop and rap/hiphop is very very thin

Mata is quite a funny phenomenon as he represented a social group he coined to be pato-intelligence. Basically people, who do stupid shit like drugs, commiting crimes, gambling, but were from rich and successful families, so attended good schools and were quite smart and educated. He was really big for a few years, still is to this day, but he's not very liked in the rap scene.
Just to confirm many previous posts: Kaliber 44 and Paktofonika are the most legendary Polish squads, both connected by one name - Magik (Magician). He is quite like Kurt Cobain of our rap scene. Great poet and artist, guy who was the creator of it's own unlike styles, who had committed suicide and then his name became even more famous and meaningful. His art is still popular even thru our teenagers. Please try 1. "+ i -" 2. "Jestem Bogiem" 3. "Chwile Ulotne" 4. "Moja Obawa" (not Magik but still Kaliber 44). Cheers!
this is, in my opinion, one of the worst lists, the author of this list probably made it according to his own views and preferences.... half of these bands are not even known.... First of all, bands like kaliber44, Nagly Atak Spawacza, Peja, Paktofonika, and even such bands like Mezo or Ascetocholix were much more famous than most of those on the recording ..... ,, these are the hits that evolved rap
totally agree! znaczy sie zgadzam w 100% i znowu, again: @mertpol: take 10 sec shots min instead of 3-5! but still: thx for the content, you've reminded me my whole childhood!
First was Kaliber 44 (psycho rap), Liroy and Wzgórze Ya-Pa-3, Molesta. Then Paktofonika - the greatest polish rap band, then in early 2000 O.S.T.R. was huge star, now it's Taco Hemingway with his specific, psychodelic rap, also first Mata album is very interestning.
Id say that Taco is not psychodelic but more like nostalgic rap...correct me if im wrong...but im 40 and been listening to rap since i was like 12?.....
4:15 There was a whole Polish movie (shown in cinemas in 2012) about this group Paktofonika - the movie was titled "Jesteś Bogiem" ("You're God"), with this song as the main soundtrack. One of this rappers committed suicide in 2000 at the age of 22, by jumping from the window at the ninth-floor of the block of flats.
Rap is the music of poor people and poverty and ambition is what drives good rap music. The production of the newer bits might be better and they might be more popular but for the real treasure throve of Polish rap music you need to go to the 90s, maybe late 90s, early 2000s, as those were the times of transformation, of people living in not so great conditions and yet having an opportunity to do something with their lives. This music reflects this drive, all the ambition, dreams, the possibilities but also very real problems of everyday lives. Love, money, conflict, diss tracks, a contrast between trying to get money and trying to make music that your sould dictates you, all of this was present in those early times of Polish rap. Modern rap is about boobs, grass, partying and so on and it's just very shallow. The music from this golden era is simply about something, even if it's not anything profound, but if you live in the hood with a lot of patology, you not necesserarily think about some greater philosophy, you think about your buddies, your every day life, trying ot survive, answering to verbal attacks by other people and so on. Mata sings about smoking weed, that Reto dude sings about chicks and parties and Kaliber sang about making rap, about struggling with drugs, sex, the song "Plus i minus" which is on the list is about a guy that rethinks his whole life on his way to the doctor that is going to tell him whether he has AIDS or not, that's a life changing event, death or life, everything will be decided in a few very long minutes. The so called gangsta rap you mentioned is about poverty, struggle in the hood, conflict and so on. From more modern artists, I'd go for Małpa, especially the song "Nie wiem co będzie jutro" about a dude in his 30s that doesn't know what to do next in his life, he's got a lot but he doesn't have what he really wants. WWO, Paktofonika, Slums Attack (i don't like them tham much, but that's part of history of Polish rap too), 52 Dębiec, Kaliber 44, Abradab, OSTR, FISZ and a lot more. Obviously if you like modern Polish rap, that's cool, you do you, nothing wrong with that. But if you want to see where it all came from and the golden era of Polish rap, then you need to reach 20 years earlier.

Kaliber44 not only was a first group that comes up with psychodelic rap, but also in their early years ( in yt you can find interview) they was trying do some ‘gangsta rap’ like Yoka ( one of the members) said, but it was just a phase when they was inspired by rappers like 2pac or snup ( nowadays you can’t find it, there is no record couse it was just their experiment) then when Magik left the band marten brothers ( Yoka and Abradab) came back to hip hope i style and drop an awesome album 3:44
Magik from Kaliber 44 and Paktofonika is a legend. Jestem Bogiem is most epic song. Then from the 90`s Liroy - sczoryk, Wyp3 - ja mam to co ty, molesta. Rest and nowdays rap is so so, or just copy of something. Verry little of good hh nowdays. Xe, xe, xeroboys...
OSTR, Sokol, Paluch, Kali, Slon, Hinol, Keke, Malpa are my all time favourites polish rappers. IMO 2000-2015 our Rap game was peaking. Great sound production, mixes, fresh beats, awesome videos. Nowadays, like every other genres of music, everything went mediocore.
I knew that you will appreciate beat in Pezet/Noon - Ukryty w mieście krzyk and your reaction did not disappoint me. I recommend the whole track- Noon was a pioneer in his time.

i am 38 i try to listen to these new songs maybe from last decade but in in my opinion they are almost the same.with few exepctions.i used listen to gural tede ostr liroy kaliber 44 and many more . they used to had not only goood lyric but also flow and charisma.now for me its just about autotne and boys band vibes.maybe im to to old :)
From the newer polish rappers i really recomend Belmondawg, his album "Hustle As Usual" and the song "Fresh Air" (it uses the same sample as Tyler The Creator's "What A Day"), I don't know if there's someone else who is as good besides maybe Taco Hemingway's older albums but I don't really listen to much polish music anyway
I suggest you listen to the discography, the evolution of Polish Rap, hip-hop, for example only O.S.T.R, this is a performer who has been advancing progress from the beginning and this is real Polish hip-hop, in this film from the 2000s you mainly showed punk-rock bands and not rap...thanks
You've asked for producers for sure you should checks 600V, White House or Noon. Some additional rappers really worth to listen (please try to translate lyrics) Te-Tris (songs like "Dwuznacznie" and "Ile mogę?"), Zeus ("Siewca", "Zgłupiej", "Idealnie niedoskonały"), Cira, Mroku ("Letni Hit"), Tau, Dizkret, Mor W.A. ("B.S.N.T."), Fenomen ("Teksty", "Szansa") or really original Fisz ("Polepione dźwięki" - album). Maybe they're not so popular but it's really worth to spend some time with their music.
Answering your question, there was whole ablum produced by Marco Polo for O.S.T.R called Kartagina, being also great producer himself, he produced an album with collab with Royce da 5'9". I remember 2 Polish collabs with DJ Premier, Sokół i Marysia Starosta - Zepsute Miasto and V/A - Najsilniejsi przetrwają. About feats, it's too many to just list them all, i can give you couple of my favs: Slums Attack feat. O.S.T.R. & Jeru the Damaja - Oddałbym Liroy feat. Ice-T - World iz a ghetto Medium feat. Gift of Gab - Hologram JWP/BC X SMIF N WESSUN "WORD WIDE" PŁONIAK x SNOOP DOGG x BOBIK - TRUE BLUE Still Us (Poland) · Onyx · E.D.I Mean · Peja ZBUKU feat. The Game, Peja - Young Blood, Old Rules (prod. RX) Peja/Slums Attack feat. Kool G Rap - Zwiększamy zasięg Młody ft. KRS-One - Puste podwórka O.S.T.R. & Marco Polo - Hip Hop Hooligans - feat. Hades, Main Flow, Torae, DJ Haem PYSKATY - BEZ GRANIC ft. TERMANOLOGY to name a few :)
you really should react to some paktofonika songs, like "2 kilo" which is in collab with german group or "powierzchnie tnące" which is really fast and hard song
Kaliber 44 and paktofonika is my favourite from 90s, the best is fact i had teacher who was producing legendary "kinematografia" and he on our classes was talking stories about magik, rahim and fokus.
LX & Maxwell - Strassenbande or TOMCRAFT FEAT. SIDO & TAI JASON - SURE SHOT ▬► is also good, immortal Sido, cheers from Poland bro! 😎✌ btw. 14 years ago we had Polish German colab ▬► DON GURALESKO - TE TYPY FEAT. SIDO
OSTR has a whole album with Marco Polo. It is called Cartagina. He also did many collabs with no polish rappers ,artist, singers ,producers..Check out Park ranger. Copycats for example...him Peja and Jeru also have a hit..
Man, it's impossible to summarize Polish rap scene in a youtube comment, one could write a book about it :) Long story short - anything before 1995 was rather niche and never got widely recognized. The first proper rap record was Alboom by Liroy in 1995 (half million copies officially sold, + probably 10x more illegal ones). Golden era of Polish hiphop pioneers was around 1997-2004. Then "hiphopolo" appeared - a more commercial, bouncy, mainstream sort of artists that were being played in mainstream radio stations (something that was unheard of before) but it was highly disregarded by "the scene". Then around 2007-2012 there was another wave of very good, fresh records, often by previously underground artists who were able to promote themselves via internet/youtube. And since then - hiphop became totally mainstream crap for youngsters ;) Speaking about the oldschool era, Polish rap scene was very diverse - we had those different genres (to some extent different than in the US), major cities had their local scenes that often maintained some coherent style. There were well known beefs between some rappers, luckily without guns incidents. And last but not least - there were some world class producers, that could easily compete with American ones...if only they had opportunity to be heard outside of Poland. One absolute genius was Noon from Warsaw, but others like OSTR, DJ Volt, Whitehouse, patr00, Te-tris, Emade, Zeus, Rahim, are also worth mentioning
The first songs from the 80s were not rap or hip-hop, but something like these genres. The first real rapper in Poland is and was Liroy, and Kazik is a good lyricist, but the music is more rock. Since 2015, most of them are not rap or hip-hop, but some hip-hop polo.
If you like rock and rap music I recomend you to react to band Luxtorpeda which combine this two genres (they have two vocalists - one is ex-member of bands named Acid Drinkers and Turbo - Robert "Litza" Friedrich, second is member of hip-hop band 52 Dębiec - Przemysław "Hans" Frencel)
The real first rapper in Poland was Magik. He founded Caliber 44. This is the band you told Nice. All these earlier bands were never really rappers. Maybe just Liroy. Magik then founded Paktofonika. Then he committed suicide, and Paktofonika's album was awarded with golden eagles. It was a breakthrough in the history of Polish music because it was the first time that a rap band won. A film was made about him, I am God, which was a hit in Polish cinemas. If you want to know who the magician was, listen to the song Paktofonika "Na mocy Paktu" The latest verse is Magik this is the essence of his talent
These songs are just a drop in the ocean of excellent female rappers, both new and old generation. From the old generation, I can confidently recommend WWO, Hemp Gru, Kaliber 44, Pezet, Borixon, Sokół. New generation: Lanek, Reto, White 2115, Bedoes, young Igi, and many others
3:24 this is i think the most popular polish rap song, the guy who sings is Magik, and he sadly died in 2000, find more about his case, its really interesting
There is a big problem with rap music in general. As long as you cant understand what they rap about, it has the same value as any pop song in the world, it can be nice to listen to, but you miss like 99% of the content. What i miss in this mix is tons of polish rapers that never went really high on hit lists, but still had a lot of respect for the "true fans". What i mean, there is no single song of Zeus, TeTris, Włodi, Pono, Vienio&Pele (not even Molesta i guess), Małpa, W.E.N.A, PiH/17, not a single song of any of polish girl rapers, Lilu, Guova, Sistars, etc, etc.. Clearly this mix was made by a fan of quite new rap, not really the generic one of 90s and 00s. For your question about polish producers, generally Dj Tomekk is pole, living in germany, but still. The most famous polish producers i would say are dj600V, Waco, DJ Eprom (aka Sztigar Bonko), DJ Deszczu Strugi and DJ Decks. Generally in poland a lot of rapers are also their own producers, so its bit more blurry here, as you take the entire song as reference, not lyrics + music separately.
You should definitely check tamagotchi from taconafide and patointeligencja from mata( there’s a version with English substitutes on TH-cam of both song if memory Serves me right )
RETO, QUEBONAFIDE, TACO HEMINGWAY , PRO8LEM were the biggest names in last couple years, before the last two it was mostly wannabe gangsters, or actual ones that were big in the industry. One of the new hyper popular guys is MATA. Songs that u liked (Tamagotchi, Billy kid,) are one i like a lot too, and they were BIG in Poland. I guess Tamagotchi will give u most views
The most popular rapers in Poland right now are probably Mata, Bedoes, Taco Hemingway and Quebonafide. But I would also recommend OSTR if you’re looking for aomething a little bit older. Rap is very Popular in Poland especially with the young people as in the last few years it took a bit of political turn with protest songs(!) but also just songs about people growing up in the post-communist times, having parents who went to work on the Isles etc. One of the greatest more modern polish songs is probably „polskie tango” that basically makes fun of our 2015-2023 government. There is also a political song „osiem gwiazd” released while huge protest against tightening abortion laws were held in 2020. Try to look for some lyrics because this really describes the mental state of half of the country
I think you should listen to some of Taco Hamingway discography, he is in my opinion the best polish raper in the meaning of artistic approach to the lyrics and beat
there should be way more taco hemingway, in 2015/16 litearlly every teenage was listening to him and on the list is only one his song. (im not including tamagotchi) they should mantion songs like trójkąt, marsz marsz or natępna stacja
Polish rap is something different than american rap, in Poland rap was first produced by Skins and in the end of 90's by Skates so it's something different than american black rap, polish rap is mostly from street/blocks made by rather simple yung guys than gangstas, I'm thinking that polish rap we can maybe compare to Eminem, a little bit.. polish rap in 90' and 00's described rather something that is going on the street, in labour part of the city and parties.. now like in 80's it is just a way of making music, almost every body can do it not only Skates, even Pop musicians😅
For sure you should check Mata - Patointeligencja and then Patoreakcja (both with eng sub). He raps about politics. After releasing these songs, people and the government became interested in him. He is the son of a famous lawyer. PS: I watch your channel regularly. Keep it up! 💪🏻 PS 2: don't understand why in video about rap revolution they mainly paste sung fragments instead of rapped ones, but that's a question not for you but for the author 😃
I reccomand you to listen Łona i Webber this is a guy that raps about my city Szczecin and make it so much in a funny way. Funny fact is that Łona raps and he is a corporation worker.
I Love N.W.A all off them, Eazy, Dre, Cube, Ren and Yella. I love West Coast too. Pac, Snoop and old staff like Public Enemy and Run DMC as well. So yeah i Love Rap, Funky, Soul, R'N'B 💪💪💪💪💪

i am 38 i try to listen to these new songs maybe from last decade but in in my opinion they are almost the same.with few exepctions.i used listen to gural tede ostr liroy kaliber 44 and many more . they used to had not only goood lyric but also flow and charisma.now for me its just about autotne and boys band vibes.maybe im to to old :)
Between 98 2005...golden era...
Man, love your accent 👍
Try listening to something from Fokus, especially the album called "Prewersje"
I suggest you listen to the discography, the evolution of Polish Rap, hip-hop, for example only O.S.T.R, this is a performer who has been advancing progress from the beginning and this is real Polish hip-hop, in this film from the 2000s you mainly showed punk-rock bands and not rap...thanks
Magik [*]
About feats, it's too many to just list them all, i can give you couple of my favs:
Slums Attack feat. O.S.T.R. & Jeru the Damaja - Oddałbym
Liroy feat. Ice-T - World iz a ghetto
Medium feat. Gift of Gab - Hologram
JWP/BC X SMIF N WESSUN "WORD WIDE"
PŁONIAK x SNOOP DOGG x BOBIK - TRUE BLUE
Still Us (Poland) · Onyx · E.D.I Mean · Peja
ZBUKU feat. The Game, Peja - Young Blood, Old Rules (prod. RX)
Peja/Slums Attack feat. Kool G Rap - Zwiększamy zasięg
Młody ft. KRS-One - Puste podwórka
O.S.T.R. & Marco Polo - Hip Hop Hooligans - feat. Hades, Main Flow, Torae, DJ Haem
PYSKATY - BEZ GRANIC ft. TERMANOLOGY
to name a few :)
3:17 bro don't know what is means... [*]
Last year, from what I remember, Reto was first on Robert Lewandowski's Spotify wraps list.
Kaliber, PFK, Liroy, Peja - od tego sie zaczęło ! :)
Trzeci Wymiar - "Złap za broń" (!!!)
PS: 2017.... polish rap is dead. The best time 1999-2010
you really should react to some paktofonika songs, like "2 kilo" which is in collab with german group or "powierzchnie tnące" which is really fast and hard song
btw. 14 years ago we had Polish German colab ▬► DON GURALESKO - TE TYPY FEAT. SIDO
Please react to "Wehikuł czasu" Dżem
Kaliber 44, my fave. Peja/Slums Attack, WWO, Paktofonika...
OSTR has a whole album with Marco Polo. It is called Cartagina. He also did many collabs with no polish rappers ,artist, singers ,producers..Check out Park ranger. Copycats for example...him Peja and Jeru also have a hit..
Saying this is polish rap is like saying KSI is a great musican
And since then - hiphop became totally mainstream crap for youngsters ;)
Speaking about the oldschool era, Polish rap scene was very diverse - we had those different genres (to some extent different than in the US), major cities had their local scenes that often maintained some coherent style. There were well known beefs between some rappers, luckily without guns incidents.
And last but not least - there were some world class producers, that could easily compete with American ones...if only they had opportunity to be heard outside of Poland. One absolute genius was Noon from Warsaw, but others like OSTR, DJ Volt, Whitehouse, patr00, Te-tris, Emade, Zeus, Rahim, are also worth mentioning
you schloud fr react to "paktofonika - jestem bogiem" the most famous rap song in 2001
The first polsh rap album was Wzgórze Ya-Pa -3 since 1995 it was behind for Liroy Album.
liroy released east on da mic in 1992 and brooklyn released cham się topi in 1994
The first songs from the 80s were not rap or hip-hop, but something like these genres.
Mert Pol, I love your reactions. You should try some Polish death metal music. Try
....Oh, Father, Oh Satan, Oh Sun or Barzabel
The real first rapper in Poland was Magik.
He founded Caliber 44.
This is the band you told Nice.
All these earlier bands were never really rappers. Maybe just Liroy.
Magik then founded Paktofonika.
Then he committed suicide, and Paktofonika's album was awarded with golden eagles. It was a breakthrough in the history of Polish music because it was the first time that a rap band won.
A film was made about him, I am God, which was a hit in Polish cinemas.
If you want to know who the magician was, listen to the song
Paktofonika "Na mocy Paktu"
The latest verse is Magik
this is the essence of his talent
pierdolisz głupoty
same as "Paktofonika - Nowiny". Just Magik and his pure talent.
Wzgórze było przed Kalibrem niestety...
@@maciej306 jakie niestety
Wzgórze lepsze o wiele poziomów jest
Pierwszy był Liroy więc we mi tu głupot nie pierdol majster bo Magik około 95 się pojawił na scenie
These songs are just a drop in the ocean of excellent female rappers, both new and old generation. From the old generation, I can confidently recommend WWO, Hemp Gru, Kaliber 44, Pezet, Borixon, Sokół. New generation: Lanek,
Reto, White 2115, Bedoes, young Igi, and many others
3:24 this is i think the most popular polish rap song, the guy who sings is Magik, and he sadly died in 2000, find more about his case, its really interesting
Bro listen to Paktofonika "Na mocy Paktu"
You'll go crazy.
A song from the late 90s that was decades ahead of all creators
For the producers, I think the most iconic and recognizable is DJ Deks and his whole collaboration with Peja
hi mert i'm big fan of polish hip-hop and one tiem i can tell you something about it
you need to react on Tamagochi from qebonafide and from mata its a lot MC,patoreakcja and the best for the end gombao33
Quebonafide polish goat
please record your reactions to Sobel's song "Bandyta", I think it's a cool song
ReTo is my favorite rapper. You have to listen to his songs
You must checkout some more music by K44 and Paktofonika like ‘Nie ma mnie dla nikogo’ or ‘Film’
There was Firma, Kali, why they don't put in this video Ganja Mafia bruh
Generally in poland a lot of rapers are also their own producers, so its bit more blurry here, as you take the entire song as reference, not lyrics + music separately.
kaliber 44 legends and masterpieces great awesome band
Is more likely us rap songs are done by polish producers who sells exclusive licence and someone add two sounds and tag as their "ghost producers" 😆
You should definitely check tamagotchi from taconafide and patointeligencja from mata( there’s a version with English substitutes on TH-cam of both song if memory
Serves me right )
RETO, QUEBONAFIDE, TACO HEMINGWAY , PRO8LEM were the biggest names in last couple years, before the last two it was mostly wannabe gangsters, or actual ones that were big in the industry.
TEDE - Drin za drinem. One of the best rap song of 90's.
Mata Patointeligencja(with lyrics) and Papuga peace
It's always arbitrary, but Noon is def one of the legendary producers and judging by your reaction from 5:00 you dig him too.
Please record reactions to "zygzak"
Missing a lot of rappers like sokół and sobota
From rock, through rap and hip hop to pop rap or hip-hoppolo
3:16
Notice that the photo is taken with the phone that has no camera
Why Peja/Slums attack is showed from 200? They started from 1996 I think, most important polish rap band.
Keep it up! 💪🏻
PS 2: don't understand why in video about rap revolution they mainly paste sung fragments instead of rapped ones, but that's a question not for you but for the author 😃
ah i forgot to say that we do have a lot of popular rappers. Imo polish is so broad and flexible that it works exceptionally well in rap 😅
how about no ...
scyzoryk is first polish hybrid of metal and rap

@@piotrsyszynski3787 Tym bardziej, że kilka pierwszych pozycji to nawet nie jest rap.
