I’m not sure how close an ear you keep to the tournament scene, but a very interesting BA video idea would be to look at the trends in tournament packs and the recent resurgence in popularity of theatre selectors (like in Megatron 3000) over generic platoons and how that affects options for different factions.

Like people who play DAK really want to use their theatre selector for Schutzen and stuf, makes them really competitive while keeping early war flavor.

I am starting to look at tournament Bolt Action, but I am starting from the very beginning

I know these are Bolt Action Alpini, but WW2 Italians always reminds me of my Flames of War regular Italian infantry. They had an “8 Million Bayonets” rule that gave them random leadership values - it was like playing a Guard army with Ork psychology IE the perfect army 🤌

I absuletly love how each new Warlods plastic kit is getting better and better for really resonably price. Its really pathetic when warlod sold us 30 model box with tons of options, heads and extra bits for 35 pounds when GW still sold 5 models dire avengers from 1997 for 27.50

I just bought the Italian Bersaglieri starter kit as my first Bolt Action army recently, so I'd love to see the progress of your Italian army. It'd be cool to see what units to pick up next and see what a finished army looks like.

The Italians are also very competitive when they use their theatre selectors.

I'm looking forward to grabbing a box of these. I don't know why but I've collected several Italian forces, regulars, Blackshirts, Bersaglieri, all with at least one frustrated guy per squad, talking with his hands.

@Mordian Glory, I recently found your videos on Bolt Action and it has helped me immensely with picking my starting Army! I grabbed a box of US Airborne and a light Howitzer, picked them because my Great Grandfather jumped with the 101st into Normandy and was with them up until Bastogne when he was wounded. Excited to start building them and playing!

I know it’s not Japanese today but for our bolt action loving brother , BANZAI !!!
Oh and as an aside these sprues look just like I love them. They don’t give me a headache trying to look at them unlike most GW kits these days.
They look great and remind me of old GW kits where you looked at them and just looked forward to kit bashing them or how you’d make them look and feel , those were good times. Times we can have still now with warlord games. Much love Warlord games for being a breath of fresh air.

Working on an Italian Army now. Have the starterbox and am going to build 2 officers, 2 regular 10men squads, 1 10men blackshirt squad in caps and tropical helmets and I received a bersaglieri sprue from my retailer, so I'll add a 6 men squad of these. Further 1MMG, 1 Medium mortar, 1 elefantino, 1 light mortar, 1 sniper, 1 A/T rifle, 1 truck, 1 CV33, 1 M13/40, 1 M75/18 and 1 Autoblinda 41. I know I can't use everything, but it's good to have options.

i have a long long LONG goal of making a few small armies of the early war to try and get someone to try BA
BEF english, continental french forces, blitzkrieg germans, early italians
So this and a set of wargames atlantic italians can go well to make a good infantry force for the army

thanks for the review! I wish that WG would release set of regular army & bersaglieri focused on Balkans/Eastern front Italians vs. the typical Africa themed sets.

It's basically the same uniform with a different colour. They don't wear shorts and have the tunicsleeves down. Just don't use the tropical helmet. The army book Italy and the axis armies gives you the theatre selector for Greece and Russia. One thing, with the exception of the battle of Keren in Somalia you don't have Alpini in Africa. And green uniforms were worn in Africa by the new arrivals, especially in the '43 Tunesian campaign. Have fun.

I have an Italian Bersaglieri army and I love it. These Alpini are definitely tempting me. Especially since they feature strongly in the next upcoming campaign book. That book also has new rules for the Italian army and other Axis minors that Warlord announced today can replace the original underwhelming rules.

Love the Bolt Action kits, but man, their mold lines are all over the place (at least on my Afrika Korps). Super pain in the arse to clean up.

Winter germans are nice specially for conversion (a great coat is a greatcoat) but have some strange choices of arms but it is a nice kit

I am an Italian player and find the generic national rules a real disadvantage compared to some of the other national rules so if you want a good chance of winning don’t play Italians. Btw K47 Italian rules are better!
