i won 50 quid when i worked there because we used to bet whether it would make it or not, its a safe ride it has been designed so it can cope with roll backs but every single time there was a roll back every single person onride had a smile on their face! great ride!
lucky 13 It seems to make it obvious when it's going to rollbaxk. It slows down as if it's telling riders oops can't quite make it over then stops a few seconds like it's saying we are rolling back so hold on then it goes back.
I thought it is was an Infinity Coaster with roll back facilities as a safety measure but apparently The Smiler was the first of it's kind and there is one in America called The Monster

It had a roll back the day before halloween in 2018, me and my sister thought it was a crash
A rollback or near rollback doesnt mean the rollercoaster is broken it just means that if the wind is different or the enviroment changes it doesnt make it over the hill and rollsback to the station just incase anyone thought it was broken
Ewzo xD It's also when it gets too cold the oil starts to ice up thus making the wheels spin less, if you look on colossus or nemesis inferno you will see heaters in the station pointing at the wheels.
They do it on purpose as its part of the ride and it's designed to do it
Actually all rides are designed to allow the cars to roll back, or else they would just be stuck at wherever they stall.

I'd quite like to experience a rollback. I've never experienced one, even though it doesn't seem like a big deal because the ride launches again and gets it right the second time.

I live in Surrey so every time I g to Thorpe Park I go on this ride and I’ve been thought about 3 colossus breakdown a saw breakdown and 1 of stealth’s breakdown
I was on the back row today and it got very close to rolling back. Felt horrible being 200 feet in the air pointing upwards not knowing which direction you're gonna go!!
Stealth the idea is to keep going forwards not go forwards then decide to roll backwards.

Love this ride, never seen a rollback although we were in the queue when the guys released the cars while one of the metal plates on the track wasn't down and smashed it into the field opposite.

Top theill and kingda ka are the top ones for rollbacks, they say it happens at the slightest weather changes such as wind speed or maybe even the start of rain! These are common, they arnt a saying of "breaking down" or malfunctioning! Actual strata coasters are even able to stall such as Top theill dragster it has stalled at the way top (Not able to make it over and isn't able to roll back so it gets stuck in between) almost 5 times now! But rollbacks are common!
I love stealth I went on it when I was eight and the man In front cried and I laughed so hard and i remember going on every ride twice and I ate marshmallow and chocolate before stealth

I managed to get 1 rollback, and a very close to stalling at the top. Love Stealth, still my favourite ride at the park.

I love roller coasters, very much... but I'm got an eerie feeling when rollercoaster goes backwards or it never stopped.

haha reminds me of when i went on it and was on a rollback, felt really funny but its all good. infact i found it better then actually going over properly and finishing the run, its kind of to simple for me as a ride i prefer twists and that but none the less i enjoy going on it still a decent ride and a must for people who havent been on it.
Yes it uses magnets to, but not to launch the train. The train is launched by indeed a pressured gas launch, the pressure is all released at once and the catch car takes the train to the end of the launch and it accelerates it enough to clear the tophat. The magnets are actually being used for a rollback. Before the train launches, they drop into the track so they don't affect the launch. Right after the train has come over they pop up again so they will brake down the train if it rolls back.

I've experienced a rollback, it's honestly not that scary, I just crapped myself and screamed for my life thinking I had finished the ride xD I'd rather be on a roll back that experience the whole thing, even though when it re-launched I had to go over the other side of the arch.. But stealth is simply my fav ride (:

@ThorpePark01 It's all hydraulically driven, no? Kinda like a super soaker. Pressure builds up in canisters, then when it's time to launch, they inject it down lines into the hydraulic motor which then spins a giant drum which then pulls the cable down the track, no?

I went to Thorpe park at the beginning of this year and stealth is great! If you ever go to Thorpe park, don't chicken out and say no try every ride at Thorpe park! (Just not the tettly teacups)

The electromagnets are brakes for the roll back and roll backs happen because the computer takes an average from the last 5 so if loads of lite people go on it, it doesn't put enough power in for heavy people afterwards and it rolls back

I remember going to thorpe park when I was 11 and queued for this ride for about an hour. I went on everything else so I thought I'd be fine. What scared me was the belly feeling u get on drop rides and because of the hight of this ride I was terrified. I also have really bad eyesight and glasses cannot be worn for the ride so I can't see where the coaster is (I've been on rita at alton towers and couldn't see a thing) anyways we get to front of queue and my mum and I panicked and didn't go on. so regret it now and that was a long time ago. my fave ride their is definitely the swarm.

I went this year when Iwas 12 went on everything bought fasttrack and we handed the woman the ticket but she said that we had to queue up in the fasttrack hut to get the other ticket. Wed judt got that one from fasttrack so we had to queue up for 20 minutes to please this miserable bastard. Finally got on and enjoyed it Im pretty sure thorpe park staff are supposed to make you happy... Well this particular lonely bastard certainly didnt

On Opening Day 2024 There Was A Rollback And They Shut The Ride Down With No Relaunch
The first launch looked slower then normal. The second and third were VERY slow. I could tell by the third launch they were starting to have issues. Then the rollback happened. You can always tell on these types of coasters when a rollback is about to happen if the last few launches were very slow.
I’m not sure in what year but they increased the power of the launch so instead of going from 0-80mph in 2.3 seconds it is now 1.9

They attach a small cage to the wires that go from bottom to top and go to the top then just push it backwards into the station because it will slow down just as shown in this video

To clear up the arguments, the launch is done by cable, all the breaking is done by electromagnets. LIM coasters use magnets to launch (which Stealth is not).
you are almost right the brake aren't electromagnets they are are normal magnets, that's why they drop down to let the train go past, if they were electromagnet they would just be turned off.
What if the other train was in station and it rolled back?
Jack 123 the ride is block sectioned, meaning that the other train cannot enter the station unless the other train has reached the brake run. The other train would never be in the station if the other train hadn't completed the circuit. Besides, even if it had, the LSM acts as a brake so the train would have stopped before it got to the station as you can see in the video.
they should relaunch it if it rolls back like on Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka

Stealth is acctualy now faster as roll backs started happing about 3-5 times a year - the last one happened in 2014 near September and I SAW IT well from burger king lol
