- Stealth rollback, it is awesomly fun when you have a rollback despite how much it scared me at first lol
I cant believe I had a rollback on stealth and I can't believe my boyfriend caught it on camera :]
I had a total of 2 rollbacks on stealth now

They do warm you before you get on that one in everyone 200 (I think) will roll back down.

That's really a huge part of their job, they're responsible for people's safety and enjoyment.
this is not a fail, as it said the coaster is designed to rollback and the coaster realizes when the coaster rollbacks the brakes automatically know that the train had a rollback.
this mostly occurs during the winter

I've actually been trying to get one for years. Rode this over 40 times and made sure my last few visits were on cold and windy days. Still no luck yet

The fins extend behind the train regardless, the ride doesn't need to even know, the train will always stop if it comes back. Who even called it a fail? I think you are being negative for no reason, the video is simply for people to enjoy watching a rollback.
Imagine if u went on this, didn't know about possibility of a rollback & suddenly went backwards at the top, the announcement after would have been a little too late to have stopped me crapping myself!
I blame ASDA they're always rolling stuff back...

i always get so scared in case it completely stops at the top😭😂
it should never get stuck at the top, even if it does which is an extremely rare possibility, staff will come up to the top and manually get it moving again.

Seen it happen once years ago. It eventually rolled down on its own, but it was up there for over 5 minutes

One time I was on Swarm and as we started I watched Stealth, it went up and nearly made it over, but it just about didn't and rolled back and I didn't know it was meant to do that so I said to my friend "Oh my god did you just see that?" Then she said "What?" Then I replied "The Stealth didn't make it over and it rolled backwards" and as my friend had been before, she said it was called a rollback and said it was designed to happen. I was like "Oooooohhhhh" and then I realised that we were at the top and I was like OMG we are at the top already? Lol. Now 2 years later my friend has experienced a rollback and she said its so fun! I'm going in 4 days, and I hope to get one xD

If you've seen the launch process close up on this format of coaster (Stealth, Top Thrill Dragster, Kingda Ka), you will see a "wave" of metal plates pop up as the train launches. They are the primary brakes that deal with the energy from the rollback - there are a similar set of fixed-always-up plates which handle the "normal" initial braking work when the ride runs normally.
They are a magnetic back-EMF type of brake which ultimately dumps the kinetic energy to heat (via electric current).
I know why it rolled back, not just because of the wind. At 0:10 and 0:11 you can hear the sound of the brakes because they put them up too early and it hit the train (Aka rollback death insurance)
iv had rollback on stealth but this one really would of made me shat my pants as the seemed to be pointing downwards when they stoped and then they rolled back , like wtf fam
I’ve ridden 30 + coasters and only have had 2 rollbacks. One on Kingda Ka, 2 or 3 years ago in the summer. Back then I didn’t know about rollbacks so I thought we would all die. Then my second one was on Red Force, and I quite enjoyed that one. Now every time I go on a high roller coaster, I pray for a roll back.
that must be so scary in the split second as it first starts to roll backward before you realise whats happening, it does look kinda fun tho, good footage.
Very unusual to see Stealth roll back on a sunny and (presumably) warm day. Usually, it seems to roll back on cold and/or wet days. In fact, I've ridden Stealth during miserable weather and my train had no problems making it over the top hat, so this is an extra rare occurrence!
Yes I believe they increased the power of the launch so this doesn’t occur as often
I noticed that the launch sounded much quieter than it is now. Has the hydrolics changed over the years?
Yes! I can't remember the exact number, but they changed it to go from 1 to 80mph in 1.8 seconds instead of 1 to 80 mph in 2.3 seconds (they haven't changed the sign outside the ride tho, it still says 2.3 seconds).

@@user-ic4cy3jy8x I think I saw a video from 2016. But it might be an old video recorded before 2016 and posted later. I think rollbacks can still happen if the wind is strong enough though, but they are definitely rarer unfortunately.

It really isn't, I've worked with these rides before and its all about momentum. If there isn't enough power, too much wind resistance, or not enough weight on the ride it wont experience enough momentum to get you over the hill. That's why they don't run these rides on windy days, cause all you'd experience is a rollback, and it'd be the same car launching forever. Ride conductors can make "test" rollbacks too, or for fun. We do it all the time!
never been on stealth but have been on kingda ka do they just feel the same?

stealth used to roll back nearly all the time when it was 0-90 in 2.3 seconds and then they had an upgrade 0-90 in 1.8 seconds

people are saying these rides are designed to roll back, as if they're meant to not go over the top! these rides are designed to break in the case of a rollback, they're not designed to just not go over the top

it has done this before
If it got stuck at the top electromagnets pushed the train back down the side it came up. It didnt push it over the full way because they know that people wanted rollbacks and it made it more exciting. Ever since the speed upgrade it doesnt happen anymore sadly.

@venus344 No rollercoaster is bigger than Kingdaka yet, stealth is 205 ft and kingdaka is about 460ft (Not sure of the exact height)

no! i went on the ride twice but no rollback im afraid. did u know about rollbacks before u went on it? tried that saw ride as well was pretty good.

the tracks were to cold it has to be warm to at least get over all other wise it doesn't work. yes the stealth ride can only get over when the track is warm not cold its how it works. warm is good for grip and friction but makes it slipery for the wheels to turn.
would be funny if there was a voiceline that says "uh oh" or something when it starts rolling back

they upgraded stealth and made it way faster and more velocity to it when i went it 2k11.
when you start it just flings you straight away instead of speeding up like in the video then u go at a moderate speed up top then 80 again its awesome havent heard any rollbacks since then..

I went on it yesturday, we were the second train to go in the morning and the guy said brace yourself it usually rolls back in the morning, me and my friends laughed but he kept a straight face lol. At the top I thought it was gonna rollback but it didnt, fun tho.

Thorpe park the rides are free but you pay a ticket to get in which is about £40 per person and then you go on any ride you want

to anyone claiming this as fake. they actually have a warning at the start of the queue saying that it is not guaranteed to reach the top, if this occurs it has built-in safety measures to return the train for a re-launch
@freer191 What on earth are you on about? Converted Energy? It's a precise closed hydraulic system. Rollbacks happen because of wind, extra friction on the track, unusual passenger loads or the hydraulic pumps haven't been warmed up.
This seems quite common. Wish there were theme parks like this in Scotland :(

THIS IS NOT FAKE! It even says on the sign as you go into the queues for Stealth that sometimes it rolls back. Seriously, I bet anyone who says it's fake is just jealous they got a cool experience.

I have only ever been on this ride once, i should of been on it alot more seeing as i live right next to the park, but the time i went on it there was no rollback, it shot us up there with alot of power, i would like to get a rollback would be fun

when the it gets cold it is to slipery for the wheels and that what makes it loose its speed because the wheels aint doing mucho
+Nathan Ring It's actually the complete opposite, the oil gets frozen when it's too cold and so creates more friction, slowing it down so it doesn't make it over the top.
Also sudden changes in air pressure at the top can cause it. Since everytime it goes over it calculates how fast it needs to launch the next train. If air pressure changes too quickly between trains then it will roll back.

It hardly ever rollbacks anymore because it is now 0-84mph in 1.8 secs but they haven't done up the sign! I really wanna a ill back but I never get one and I have been on this so many times! I really want one and you kno when you get one because it makes a whirring noise and everyone shouts rollback! I am gonna try shouting rollback and see if it works!
