One of our favourite places in the world. So much more than the northern lights too which people don't realise. Our glacier trek lives long in the memory!

Omg, I'm going to iceland this Easter on a road trip around the island! This really helped me see what iceland is like and now I'm soooo pumped to go! Great vid btw!
That's great, hope you have a fun time! Iceland has a lot to see and we barely scratched the surface.
This stopover is just genius. I spent 20 days in Iceland last summer and it was the best trip of my life. A wild road trip combined with extreme camping, amazing. However the weather wasn't good on the last days, so we missed the best hiking which would take 5 full days. So next time I head to NYC, I'll make sure to get a flight with Icelandair and make this stopover to reach my final goal hahaha.

It was a bit chilly so I would bring a good jacket and mitts with a toque for sure :) The wind is quite cold but it's always worth braving :)

Brilliant video of Iceland again makes me feel home sick but I'm back in two weeks time for the eclipse :) Good to see Kex again, couldn't see anyone I know in the back ground, never mind. If you ever go to Iceland again take a look at Djúpavík, I did some filming there last year, yes it's well away from city life but totally beautiful.

Northern lights are visible from almost anywhere in Canada . You don’t need to be in the arctic circle all the time . However the lights are certainly more clear and far brighter in the arctic circle .

Did a three day stopover flying on an Iceland Air Denver to Brussels trip, October 2015.. The place is fantastic, definitely a must do for any traveler. Even got to see the Northern lights, Most people there speak English which is good because, eg tala ekki islensku.

Thinking about going home from my round the world trip via Iceland, apparently you can get good priced flights from NYC to the UK via Iceland. Must admit though, bit allergic to the cold weather, sunning it up in SE Asia at the moment :D

How they able to travel much?
I wonder, how much did it all cost throughout these entire 48 hours? Last time I heard, Iceland is quite expensive! And will it be worth it for travellers on a budget?
I know this has nothing to do with the video but I have a Euro trip coming up and I wanted to see if you guys could give some tips and pointers on safe traveling with money & passport. What do you guys do, wallet? I'm not too worried but would like to hear how the pros do it! Hope to hear back. Guys do awesome work!
Russell Montgomery We usually just take money out with a debit card instead of travelers checks. As for the passport, we don't stress about it too much. We just have a really minimalist setup and so it's easy for us to see what we have and what's missing. It's a lot harder to keep aware of where everything is if you have a lot of junk in your bag.
Which geothermal springs did you guys went at the start of the video?
The secret lagoon, thats the name of the place, it got the name because it is located on a land owned by a farmer sho kept it a secret and told only famely and friends. But fast forward 15 years its now obe of the most popular hot spring that isnt overcrowded every day, its a definit must try if you are only traveling the south/southwest part of the island and the admission is very cheap only 1500 isk
Iceland is actually not that cold (: it's like rainy and moist but still in the north so that makes the snow melt and turn into ice
My plan is to visit there after they finish building that pagan temple!

My first question is: Is it worth it going in winter time just to the see the lights?. I am not sure as the rest of the country is icy and full of snow. I feel that travelling in winter, and not seeing the lights at the end, may be a bit dissappointing. How much snow is there in April or May?.
+Fran Camino I don't know about April and May but when I visited in August the weather was nice but it rained 5 days out of three weeks. But I did't see the northern lights =(. The weather was around 50 F so sweater weather. And It is not icy or full of snow when I visited. Also go their for a month you can't see everything in a week and only got halfway in 3 weeks. PLAN AHEAD in most locations there is only two or three hotels and lots of people are going so... get your stuff at least 6 months ahead.To conclude, bring food the food is pretty terrible except for the seafood and in most places the only have hotdogs. Most small towns don't have stores or restaurants so buy food in the bigger cities. You can even get a RV but then you can't do some hardcore stuff. Thx for reading this

+Fran Camino Just got back from Reykjavik a week ago. Totally worth it. Checked out the northern lights, the water fall, the geyser, saw where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and went to the blue lagoon. All in a weekend. Will do it again.

+Fran Camino well coming from Iceland myself.. The coldest months are december-february when it´s most often below freezing (23-40 F). There could be snow still in April and a little chance to see the northern lights, because the day is getting pretty long in april. Its best to see the lights from november-february when the day is short and the air is colder. May is springtime in Iceland and May is the most sunny month of the year but it's not that warm (maybe 40-60 F). Best Months to visit Iceland are July-August/beginning of September. When the weather is best (55-75 F). The north of the country is usually sunnier and warmer during the summertime but the winter in the north is colder. In the capital of Reykjavik, the summers are quite windy and cool and the winters usually kind of mixture of wind, rain and sleet. Its really unusual to have snow during the whole winter in the south, and it snows a lot more in the north.

I was just there and I took £300 for four days. That wasn't enough. I had to use my credit card for two days. Stuff is really expensive.
