While I'm not a downhill skier myself, I feel like this film captures what the heart of a traveling, passionate spirit is. the incorporation of your passions and living tiny is such an inspiration to the new generation of tiny home dwellers who want to live out their passions. Thank you!
"Home Free" WOW! You guys should write an illustrated children's book. What a wonderful example of LIVING life you have shared with us all. Dream on...
The most amazing thing about this little documentary, apart that it is freaking excellent, is that it applies to ANY dream..build your house wherever you are, you will be ok if you are following your dream..an apartment, a dorm room, your Mom´s basement..just make it yours and don´t be afraid to live that dream.
Just saw the Tiny House rolling down the street in my town and was super pumped, should have followed it. We came right home to watch the video, now my wife loves it too. Have a great time!
You guys are seriously living the dream and don't let anyone else tell you different. The house is amazing and the journey is what makes life memorable
As a last semester college student planning my outdoor escapades to remote Alaskan peaks and central Asian mountain ranges, this film has fired me up for the skiing season at home. Wow! I could feel the stoke pulsing through my body. Now if only I could convince my buddies to build such a set up for our own use...
This journey fills up every part of my soul! Thanks to everyone in this video - you are a huge inspiration for me :) You're a big part of the reason I just bought a camp trailer to convert to a tiny house, and enrolled myself in natural building school starting in 2 months. I'm hoping to get out on more adventures like this myself :)
Doing what you want, when you want, with those you choose to be with is Nirvana. The effort is ALWAYS worth it, the adventures and unexpected surprises are the seasoning that give the experience a memorable flavor long past the end. The good news is that there is no end so go for it on purpose, and you never have to "explain" it to anybody ever. Lovely video, thanks for sharing it. The Wizard Of Willow on Facebook loves this.
+Sam Giffin you gotta take the good with the bad. 80 hour drive to get to their paradise or 80 hours watching tv. I'm sure the choice is clear to them they are loving ten fold the life as most.
Thank you for sharing, I am in awh of your adventuresome spirits. It made this 65 yr old woman cry. Im so proud of of what you did. Excellent cinematography.
Zack is a great craftsman and wanted to build something exactly how he/we wanted it. That would not have been possible if we were to purchase a used trailer. The heart and soul poured into the Tiny House is amazing. That is what makes it so awesome for this journey.
Your film was breathtaking, brought tears to my eyes. It took me back to the days I snowboarded in my teens. I only dream of building a tiny home, and you all have inspired me even more to make that wish come true. Thank you for sharing this with the world. Can't wait to see the next one.
Hey Guys, My name is Jay and I'm from NYC. OMG what a great film, project and crew! I loved the music throughout the film and the journey. I was searching for ideas in building Tiny Homes for the Homeless and I stumble-upon "Livin' Tiny: A Quest For Powder"... I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FILM!
I like the steps that spiral up to the sleeping loft in the tiny house. I never seen something like that before in a tiny house. I think its better than a ladder. Great tiny house I love it!
this is nothing short of amazing. This truly makes me want to get out there, live a little, and step out of my comfort zone. This video just fills me with so much that that i can not even describe it. I have no clue where my future will take me but i hope this will be a part of it sometime.
i think the fact that you guys let nothing discourage and let your imaginations and skills create such a beautiful thing to go enjoy all the things that make the world great is in inspiration to people like me who would love to do things like what you guys do. thank you.
"The human spirit in action". that's how my girl friend Kimberly described your video. She was literally crying at the end! Great job. We hope to see you in Colorado soon. Barry
I downloaded this about a month after it came out and watched it again last night after just being back from the mountain. I just wanted to say I really enjoy watching this film :) Makes me love the mountain even more and appreciate how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful world. Cheers
That was a beautiful story on many levels. I hope that all of you returned safely after a journey of a lifetime!! I think you're going to need a bigger truck though. Poor "Rusty". Peace friends.
This is really great. I love the fact that you built a tiny house, went on a huge road trip, made it all the way here to Canada, all for the sake of great powder. Koodos to you. I think I might take up skiing.
Amazing. Only one way to put it, absolutely amazing. I want to build a tiny house now :) You guys have inspired me, thanks. That is amazing. Amazing. I don't know how many times i can say that, but it is. Amazing.
The shots looking back at the riders were mostly Neil the snowboarder holding his camera in his hand out in front of him. It was pointed back so that is how the shot was taken. Anything that was up high was taken from a helicopter. Glad you enjoyed the movie!
So far all the ski areas have been really good to us. It is promotion for them that they get to be in the videos so they are generally really stoked on the house being at their mountain.
Great vid! Very inspirational for the Tiny House movement. The scenes with nasty black smoke pouring out of the pickup truck are a little disheartening but I guess some things can not be avoided. Thanks for the vid!
They were stuck in CA for a few weeks until we were able to get a new truck and drive it out to them. Luckily they had great snow while they were in Canada!
Cool video!! Whitewater is the place where dreams are made. I need to go there every year to recharge and feel alive. The tiny house saga is pretty cool. Great idea!!
Thank you for making this movie and THANK YOU EVEN MORE FOR THE ADVENTURE. Made me literally goose bump up for our mountain session tomorrow. Glad your home found it's footing you did well!
I will seriously pay this "ghost town" band to send me their music... how much you want??? 20..30..40?? I dont care, i will pay it! Whoever ghost town is, they are sitting on some stuff that the world needs! PLEASE release your music, the song at 6:20-7:20ish is amazing. Not to down play the videography at all, its awesome as well.
I lived for three years in a trailer. it was awesome. The cost of living was great and the neighbors were all awesome people too. I had the freedom to move my home wherever I wanted. Home is what you make of it. There are people who pay huge rental prices and own nothing, with neighbors they can't stand and getting their vehicles broken into all the time. I like being outside and only really need a place to cook my meals, store my stuff and a place to sleep. All the other stuff is kinda useless.
The truck in this video, Rusty D lives again. After repair from the fire and repower with newer diesel engine, it is ready for its next adventure. I am driving it to AK from Seattle in July to use at my property and gold mine. Great job on this video.
This is an awesome video. Wish I was 25 to 30 again because this is where I'd be for sure. In the meantime, I'm planning my own kind of tiny house for when I retire from the daily grind in about 3 years. It won't be extreme skiing, but it will be skiing and kayaking. Yeah, baby.
True, one can get from point A to point B in a straight line more efficiently, but one misses the experience of the journey down the side roads and all the resulting adventure.
I believe if I had a portable house like that, I would set off for Newfoundland & Labrador. I just love the Tiny house concept. Hope your truck survives. Cheers
what an epic journey... would love to do something like this an travel around in the winters chasing the best snow. gave me goosebumps, when the truck died an the tiny house was at home where it belonged in a ski area parking lot.
Thumbs way up! I had a smile on my face the whole video! I wish I could board like you guys! Anyways this is whats its about......life....live the sh*t outta it! At the end all we have is our memories! I bow to you guys/girls
Some of the inspiration came from that it was just something different and cool. Another big reason was so that the house could be parked at the ski resort in hits spot for extended periods during storm cycles and we would still have a vehicle to drive around town to get food and other stuff.
Hey Ryan, we didn't use any blue prints. This one was built less for one-two person living and more as a "bring your own ski hut" type of tiny home. In my experience, winterizing a septic system is a real pain and does not work in super cold temps. All we did was take this to the coldest places in the country and trying to have a winterized septic that could handle 5 people's waist would have been a nightmare that I'm so glad to have avoided. Ran out of time to build an outdoor shower!
Wow! Awesome video guys: the writing/narration, time-lapse stuff, music, and the feast of short clips from your adventure... masterfully done! How amazing that Rusty held on until you finally found some snow. There's a storm hitting Colorado now, but I wouldn't head south yet. Cheers, Nick from Gold Hill (old neighbor)
@15:28 quote of the film. Watch the whole thing though. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Hey ski resorts, please start letting your back lots be used for rigs like this. And for those that already do, thank you.
Pretty awesome video, I actually live about an hour away from Whitewater in BC and was part of a crew fighting a forest fire above that hill only a few weeks ago.
ahhhhh! so sick! i can relate to this on so many levels, you may have inspired me to move back to canada and build a tiny house. I want a quest for powder! good job fellas
Yup! They were at Crystal this weekend. They will be at Alpental this coming weekend for VertFest, the 16th and 17th. NW largest ski touring event, come check it out!!
Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. This is very heart warming story. I loved every minute of it. It was very professionally done and story was excellent. I would say the best video for how actually the tiny house is being used.
Your last drawing is imaginative, but good luck backing up or stopping downhill on snow! With a semi and a single large flatbed trailer, it would be do-able. Cheers!
Wow.....it's great to have "big balls" and be young...hopefully everyone has done something like this in their past.....modern society makes life difficult...wait as long as possible to "own a lot of stuff" kids. Nice video...
Your Video is great, love it. Had been looking around for Tiny Homes, because we gonna get one for ourself. We do life in Canada. Enjoyed your story and got some nice ideas out of it. Thanks for posting it.
Sam Giffin !!! Golden Globe Award for this magnificent piece of cinematic art !!! Beautiful !!!

This is the best cinematography I've ever seen. Absolutely amazing.
Can only agree with Man Hound! great video, loved it, all the good stuff, the downsides (snow in house, dead truck etc) awesome video, very inspiring
"Home Free"

Fantastic Journey to be a part of and all the friends made along the way....awesome!
Brings me back to my 20's....

My wife and I saw you as we were leaving Utah last December, heading to Texas to build our very own Tiny House that is almost done now! Congrats!
This video made me realize...i'm not living to my full adventurous potential...i really need to get at life.
Excellent cinematography.
sweetest movie I have seen in ages!!! In Europe this House would not be possible at all due to law. such a great work! keep it up! stoked !

Ok so truck repair isn't your thing, but you guys have so much talent and passion for what you do! Enjoyed this immensely!!
Sweet as. Thank you for reminding us all that we skiers are a different breed altogether.
I love this. It's one of my favorite videos on TH-cam.
I never tire of watching this! I send it to friends on a regular basis.
I loved the skiing scenes. Makes you understand why they built it.
Thanks again to everyone for the positive feedback!!! All of us here at OR are truly stoked you guys enjoyed it.
I loved watching this. I miss being young and full of energy. Glad to see you young people doing stuff.
Thanks for the beer & warmth. Cool house, good to meet you guys!

new thing added to my bucket list. this is one of the best ski/snowboard movie/ videos out there so KEEP IT UP!!!
I like the steps that spiral up to the sleeping loft in the tiny house. I never seen something like that before in a tiny house. I think its better than a ladder. Great tiny house I love it!
Bruce and I are old skiers. We loved the whole thing.
this is nothing short of amazing. This truly makes me want to get out there, live a little, and step out of my comfort zone. This video just fills me with so much that that i can not even describe it. I have no clue where my future will take me but i hope this will be a part of it sometime.

That was a beautiful story on many levels. I hope that all of you returned safely after a journey of a lifetime!! I think you're going to need a bigger truck though. Poor "Rusty". Peace friends.
it is twice as heavy, twice as expensive but Zack is "awesome" and "amazing" - thank you - now I understand
This is really great. I love the fact that you built a tiny house, went on a huge road trip, made it all the way here to Canada, all for the sake of great powder. Koodos to you. I think I might take up skiing.

***** Hey Sam! Is this you in the video? The one who built the tiny house?
***** I have not but I will sure check it out. Thank you!
I love it! it's been a dream of mine to transform a bus into a livable space for my friends and i to travel, since I was a child.
The shots looking back at the riders were mostly Neil the snowboarder holding his camera in his hand out in front of him. It was pointed back so that is how the shot was taken. Anything that was up high was taken from a helicopter. Glad you enjoyed the movie!
What a great vid! Y'all are living life to the fullest! God bless you all!
possibly the best skiing video ever made
So far all the ski areas have been really good to us.
This is incredibly inspiring.
Every second I sit here watching it, my mind runs wild, and is at the same time brought to perfect peace.
They were stuck in CA for a few weeks until we were able to get a new truck and drive it out to them. Luckily they had great snow while they were in Canada!
Just love the way Molly says 'C(j)anada'...so cute! Great video.
Noooo Rusty! I cried. Awesome trip
Cool video!! Whitewater is the place where dreams are made. I need to go there every year to recharge and feel alive. The tiny house saga is pretty cool. Great idea!!

I want that "House". Thanks for the idea, my dad and I are crafty with our hands. Might make one of those for my wife and I.
awesome video guys, that is so inspiring, epic trip in the tiny house, and awesome skiing in the end!, thanks for sharing your adventure!

great House. Great Story. Great Camera work. Great Editing. Great.
Great job guys. Something my Dad would have LOVED

Awesome, The Search,... I lived it for 26 years ... I want back in !
I LOVE THE NARRATIVE PERSPECTIVE OF WRITING!!!!!!
True, one can get from point A to point B in a straight line more efficiently, but one misses the experience of the journey down the side roads and all the resulting adventure.
loved the shots of everyone smiling at the end...great doc.
That spiral staircase (I guess that's what you would call it) is amazing! I like it a LOT more than the clumsy ladders that most tiny homes have.
Wonderful video!!!! I envy you guys. What a wonderful way to live!!!!!!
This video was superbly composed, and I am very impressed. Well done.
Love it. A true America story of doing what you love , life , live it

Loved that, let the peace fall on all you come across
Wow. Ill say it thats every snowboarders and skiers dream of fresh powder searching.
Amazing video. Best tiny house that I have ever seen. Wonderful photography.

I wish I could live my life like this.
Do it ! WHats holding you back? Just have faith and you will live a wonderful life.
I plan on it when I get out of school.
Jonathan Akers have you done it yet?
Wish I was still a ski bum. Looks like a great time! You guys keep ripiin for us. -B

Very Inspirational!! Thank you for living the dream and sharing with all of us.
That a was a great glimpse into the dreams of every ski bum! You guys rock, keep it up!
ahhhhh! so sick! i can relate to this on so many levels, you may have inspired me to move back to canada and build a tiny house. I want a quest for powder! good job fellas
