The garmin MK2i with its transmitters does all of the things you’re wanting with the addition of much wider range. The only downside is the screen size but even that addresses your desire to have only the details you want. The garmin allows you to customize data pages.

More information is good. Air integration helps in post dive(s) analysis. More calculated assistance is good. You can get rid of everything until something goes wrong. Putting all your information in one instrument is a bottleneck though. Even more so if you are removing all SPGs from multiple tanks you take with you. If your computer fails, you still know how much air you have with an SPG. If you are properly trained you also know your bottom time based on air consumed, SAC and estimated depth (or calculated with an SMB and spool). If your SPG or transmitter fails you can calculate your air remaining from depth SAC and time the same way. If an SPG is justifiably removed in this manner then a compass could be as well. Just use the electronic one. For Rec dives, I'd say the list can be paired down quite a bit before you are asking for trouble. For more technical dives, it's probably good to evaluate each scenario.

The SAC rate calc on new firmware works well in my experience. Done a few dozen dives with it and it feels accurate with two sidemount tanks.

The new software for the teric you can use 4 different transmitter. Also it has a sidemount function that allows you to see your sac. Shearwaters new swift transmitter is much better then the old gray and yellow ones. It also has a led light that works as a battery indicator and connectivity indicator

I would like that battery indicator (nearly missed a cool cave dive because both batteries were empty, but we managed to work around it.). Slightly better range is also nice since sometimes my computer doesn't receive my right sidemount transmitter. I think the new transmitters should be an improvement but I doubt I'll replace my Aqualung ones until they're a bit cheaper.

I use PERDIX AI with transmiter on right post as primary way of pressure check with my twins. I still have backup spg on left post. Never had any issue with transmitter so far BUT I had battery leak in perdix during the dive (it died middle dive) so using only transmitters on sidemount would leave you with no way to know your tank pressure for both sides even if transmitters could be perfectly fine. Battery was lithium ultimate as they recomend for lower chance of leaking.

Latest firmware gives accurate SAC for Sidemount use case, allows up to four transmitters so you can include stages and indicators of when to switch tanks/regs

Thanks, we are currently test diving with 4 swift transmitters and will be making another video based on our finding next month.

@@sidemountscubadiving Will be great to see your review. I am currently certified through SSI and their requirements mandate an SPG still. Be interesting to see how quickly (or not) agencies alter their requirements to support transmitter without a backup SPG attached.

How to configure the display like timecode >5:00 ??? I tested all settings, but never got pressure from tank 1 on the left site on the bottom line.
Can you advise of to do that ?! Thanks

It seems that you're replacing your SPG with the transmitter+computer setup rather than augmenting it. Is that correct? Do you feel that the Shearwater Swift and Perdix combo are reliable enough to retire SPG for both recreational and technical diving? Or maybe just the former?
