Lmao, yeah it’s amazing. I could tell they were getting tired, because that part where Tracy gave her monologue and Seaweed hugged her from behind I could feel his pain. This song is very tiring to dance to and sing at the same time. Plus like half of them doing it in heels too. 😭

Especially since she didn’t even dance in her Broadway performances! They had a body double switch with her for the big choreography moments. And look at her now!

I danced to this with the 2007 hairspray movie with Zac Efron , Amanda bines and others it’s hard I was out of breath at the end of song but it’s fun to dance and sing to for sure

What's ironic about the fact that Kristen is portraying Dove's mother here, is that also played Maleficent in the Descendants movies and Dove portrayed Mal, her daughter.
Whenever I see this done, my mind is blown at how much cardio power these people have. LOL. I'd be out of breath and on the floor within a minute if I tried this.

You act like I'm attacking her, I just said I don't like her voice for a musical theatre role, and if she was requested to sing in that style (doubtful, just sounds like her normal voice) then I think that was a bad directorial choice. Calm down, I don't hate your fave, she's just not mine. The fact that you have to attack people's income and intelligence for having a different opinion is kinda sad and makes you look really childish and insecure. Are you ok?

This really is one of the best musical finales ever. It's fun to see this version with so many big Stars in the principal roles.
Most impressive - Martin Short at the age of 70 keeping up at the end running around the stage like he is in his 20s. The all-star cast this had is just amazing.
Tbh, Garrett Clayton did amazing acting in this. (Link Larkin). The other cast members did well too but he really shined!
I KNEW I recognized Garret's face!!!! Since watching him in "Teen Beach Movie," he's been awesome!

This is my favorite casts out of all the Hairspray “movies”. Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Derek Hough, Rosie O’ Donnell, and Maddie Baillio are all amazing separately but TOGETHER 😍😍. The 1988 and 2007 casts were amazing too but this one I always remember first when I think of Hairspray. Maybe it’s all of the actors in it not sure. I’ve seen the 1988 way more than 2016 and 2007 combined but it still makes me think of it first.

You don't mention Harvey Fierstein. He won the Tony Award for the part when the show was new. They were nervous about casing him because of his voice, but they had to double the length of "timeless to me" because audiences went wild for it every night. He's not big in Hollywood, but he's fantastically respected in the Broadway world - not only for his performing, but also for his writing, and for his work with up-and-coming people. Cyndi Lauper regularly credits him for shepherding her thorough creation of Kinky Boots, which she won a Tony Award for (best composer).
2007 is iconic. Young Zac and Amanda, AMAZING performances from Queen Latifa and John Travolta. Christopher Watkins also did amazing as well and SEAWEED.. full. Stop, he was amazing

I am apparently in the minority who think Ariana didn’t do great in this role…like I just saw Ariana Grande. It didn’t seem like she was actually playing Penny.

There is a big difference between the people who are really trained for working at the musical theatre and Ariadna Grande.She is not at the same high level like the other singer, dancers and actors of the ensemble.
@@sylviaandiel9201 Ariana Grande came from a musical theater background so I feel she could have acted differently, but didn’t. I think I blame the directors. Vocally she’s just out of place with everyone else and they didn’t give her more direction to match the singing/acting style of the show.

Kristen Chenowith and Dove Cameron playing mother/daughter worked so well in “The Descendants” they got to do it again here.
I really like all this live tv musicals. It's perfect balance beetween movie star/famous peoples and theatre stars with more stage version ( not like movies where always are cutting best songs ... Dear Evan Hansen 😭). Grease live have more songs than movie and original ones. I love this more than movie ( but RIP Olivia Newton John amazing actress and Singer ❤️)

yeah, they had to cut a lot of songs from the stage musical when they put the movie together. They also expanded on Sandy's role because they had a big name for it.

OMG! This just sweeps me up into a whirl of fuming Hairspray! One of the most fun numbers in the whole musical. Everyone of those actors are chef's kiss perfect for their roles. I just can't stop that beat!

I just realized that in Without Love, Seaweed sings, "Who'da thought I'd love a girl whose skin was white as winter snow?" But, in both the 2007 movie and in Hairspray Live, Penny is played by one of the tannest white girls on the cast.
