Well, the license plate was exposed on the video so that means if the cyclist goes to the cops, unless the car was stolen, the driver can be tracked down for attempted murder. VP453 was the plate number, as shown at time stamp 0:17.

Adrenaline is one hell of a thing and yeah, cuts sting and there probably is some bruising, but seriously - he walked away without any broken bones, and his pride intact. I've not been in any road accidents like that, but on my limited understanding, any crash you can walk away from is not a bad one.

That's why there is a need for secured bike lanes. They have them in Germany. That is why I ride my bike on the sidewalk. I was already hit by a car crossing the street at a crosswalk with the walk light on.
Yet American fire departments hate bike lanes as they make the stroads smaller, when in Europe the bike lanes have a secondary purpose of being for emergency vehicles.
If you was hit at a crosswalk then the sidewalk isn't safe either. Secure bike lanes won't solve this issue as the car still has to drive over it to make a turn. To solve this issue you need to take dumb drivers off the road.

Before I came across this channel I never knew it was possible to watch a "news" story and finish up knowing less than I started before I watched.
When I was in college a car hit me on the highway while I was on a motorcycle. I went over the car, flew hundreds of feet and ended up in a dive roll which left me standing in the middle of the road. I had to run back to the accident, I was so far away. My motorcycle was a total. To this day, I attribute the save to God as my college roommates had circle prayed around me ten minutes before, as I was traveling far. :)

Trust me, no cyclist wants to be sharing the road with cars. Any time you see a cyclist on the roads it's for one or more of the following reasons: 1. There's no bike lane and they need to travel in that direction 2. The bike lane has debris 3. The bike lane is full of parked cars and other obstacles (e.g. trash bins) 4. The bike lane is literally a gutter with drains that will catch your wheel 5. The bike lane puts the cyclist in the door zone of parked cars 6. The bike lane abruptly ends ahead and they need to merge with traffic 7. Construction in the bike lane 8. Delivery vehicles 9. They're turning left 10. The bike lane has a speed limit well below their desired speed 11. Pedestrians walking in the bike lane or slow-moving cyclists that they want to pass
This is why bike lanes should be on the sidewalk and not in the road. I don't care if it has tires and is faster. Because i rather be on the side walk then in the path of a distracted, intoxicated, or careless driver

What's more important to point out is a driver's lack of understanding that they have to share the road with pedestrians and cyclists. For many years, as a pedestrian, I've been basically almost hit and seriously injured or even killed by drivers who act like they own the road. I have no car and I have to rely on a scooter to get to and from work and the road I ride on has no sidewalk and is dangerous, but I have no choice in the matter unless I get a work from home job or I get a job that is very close to public transportation.
